Sabal palmetto Puns

Trachycarpus Fortunei also known as The Windmill Palm is way more hardy in your area and it gets just as tall and looks just as beautiful. 🌴 stop killing plants. Those Sabal palmetto palm trees are worth hundreds of dollars per foot of trunk! It's a waste of taxpayer dollars. Just plant some Windmill Palm Trees already.

I was living in the south for a while and managed to germinate a sabal palmetto seed. It’s still tiny in a little nursery container but it’s growing nonetheless.

However, now I live in an apartment in NYC with no balcony. Anyone in a similar situation had much luck growing Sabals in pots indoors? I’ve heard success stories of people growing them in pots, but they’re usually able to put them outside in the summer, something I won’t be able to do.

I don't want to step on anybody's toes here, but the amount of non-dad jokes here in this subreddit really annoys me. First of all, dad jokes CAN be NSFW, it clearly says so in the sub rules. Secondly, it doesn't automatically make it a dad joke if it's from a conversation between you and your child. Most importantly, the jokes that your CHILDREN tell YOU are not dad jokes. The point of a dad joke is that it's so cheesy only a dad who's trying to be funny would make such a joke. That's it. They are stupid plays on words, lame puns and so on. There has to be a clever pun or wordplay for it to be considered a dad joke.

Again, to all the fellow dads, I apologise if I'm sounding too harsh. But I just needed to get it off my chest.

I'm going to be moving to Mississippi soon, and as a life-long New Englander I'd love to have the opportunity to grow some palm trees. My understanding is that palms typically prefer a dry winter, and are generally more prone to rotting in places with wet winters, like Mississippi. I'm not going to be living near the coast of MS - I'll be in the Starkville area. I've been able to track down examples of what I think to be Trachycarpus Fortunei on house photos nearby (https://photos.zillowstatic.com/fp/b50f06bcdb55223ba9a89c61eaac6d71-uncropped_scaled_within_1536_1152.webp), but in a protected spot. Any suggestions for palms that are hardy in this area?
