My pitch for a predator film

I've been reading through a few of the ideas thrown about on here on personal ideas for a better Predator film, and I wanted to add my own because it's been rattling around in my brain for a while and wanted to share my own.

It opens on the African plain, where a small group of paleontologists are excavating for Spinosauridae fossils. You have the classic trope of someone digging too deep or stepping in the wrong spot and falling through the ground into a previously undiscovered chamber. It's the interior of a very ancient spacecraft, with walls filled with hunting trophies. The presence of the human causes power to be restored, and from a stasis pod in the back comes a gnarly-looking Yuatja in stranger armor than we've ever known. A member of the human party, a guard of the party with an AK repels into the hole. Startled, he opens fire and the Predator attacks.

Next, we meet the human protagonist, an old soldier leading a multination reactionary group of soldiers whose job is to respond to potential Predator sightings and stop them. It's believed that making themselves too dangerous of prey will dissuade future Yuatja from seeing the earth as a hunting ground, but with every engagement, it seems the number of visitations keeps growing. Protagonist is a worn-out man, and he's facing potential forceful retirement due to age and medical issues, but his men love him and their counter-terrorist activities keep them active and sharp. An alert comes in, and it looks like a Yuatja incursion may be happening. It points to northern Sweden, near a military training complex, where it is well forested and snowy.

At the same moment, the Yuatja in Africa is looking at a viewscreen displaying the same place. As a beacon blinks from there, the screen shorts out and the ship shutters, obviously devoid of life. The Yuatja is obviously upset and frustrated, and it likewise reveals he had killed everyone from the paleontologist group. Next, it shows a garage sweltering in the African heat, a number of men with guns lounge nearby. They are attacked and killed by the Yuatja, who has none of his technology. He begins to scavange, and uses human technology to begin welding together various pieces of metal.

The reactionary force is deployed to Sweden, but Protagonist is pulled aside. He's to go to Africa, where something like Yuatja technology has been discovered. He is disgruntled but trusts his secondary-protagonist to lead the team well. Arriving in Africa with a number of

Fraud Film Composer and Potential Child Predator in Louisiana

This is not a witch hunt. This is a warning for people near my area and a warning for people who would potentially hire this man based on his lies.

In south Louisiana, in multiple parishes, there is a man named Gerry Math aka Gerald Matherne. I know for certain he has worked in St. Mary Parish and Terrebonne Parish. He claims to own 4 academy awards for his musical work on films such as Jurassic Park, Schindler’s List, Titanic, etc. The only problem is that he has no connection to any of these films and can likely not even play an instrument. Gerry Math is a fraud who has convinced countless people that he is high-level talent. Even more scummy is the fact that he gets many gigs in restaurants just because of his claims, and I’m sure he gets paid well to swindle these people. Another thing: in 2020 he was arrested for β€œindecency with a child”. This man is 71 years old. What he’s doing with a child is beyond me.

Arrest report: https://kwhi.com/2020/11/24/louisiana-man-indicted-in-austin-co-for-indecency-with-a-child/

Playing in restaurants: https://youtu.be/cVYrB8q9rP0 https://youtu.be/d8_T9JHb4FE

Local article where he fools them to write his lies: https://self-storageinsider.com/what-does-a-hollywood-music-composer-a-retired-bp-executive-and-a-self-directed-retirement-expert-have-in-common/

This man is cheap and manipulative. I only post because he tried to swindle me. I caught a performance of his and we ended up talking. He claimed he was looking for a young writer to help him with a play he planned to bring to broadway. obviously there were red flags, but being a young aspiring writer (19yo) I thought I would at least exchange a few emails. Of course, after a few minutes of research I uncovered the truth. Given his criminal past, who knows what his true intentions were.

I would like to get the word out on him so no one else is swindled by this disgusting con-artist.

Disney needs to focus on adapting the Alien & Predator comics for the big screen instead of continuing down the same sequel/prequel path of the films.

That means Machiko Noguchi, Earth War, Bad Blood, Labyrinth, etc. This is what they've excelled at with the MCU - these loose adaptations of comic books that bring everyone's favorite characters to live action. If they just apply that approach to Alien, Predator, and AvP and have them all in the same continuity then that could save these franchises.

Just reboot and pull from the massive history of the EU. It's so obvious!

Predator 1 & 2 are perfect Predator films. The latest one (not skulls) is everything wrong with modern movies imo and a stain on the Predator franchise

Now I know the Predator franchise isn’t exactly the MCU or even the maze runner films but there’s so much potential in Predator name but that last one is an absolute disgrace to the franchise and film in general. How can they make something so cool/scary/fun into something so boring unfun and just complete shit if I’m honest. I distinctly remember seeing Shane Black being announced as the director and quotes saying how he’s part of the franchise and knows where to take it. Oh boy did he take it somewhere, hopefully we never have to go there again it’s so boring there. I’m not sure where I’m going with this but how can it be so easy to fuck something as cool as the predator up and why do they make the human characters people you just want offed asap. Predator 1 & 2 had characters you actually like to a degree as well as being much more grounded and realistic to a point, like every time I watch them I feel hot and sweaty just seeing them in boiling hot LA or deep in the jungle. Now you just have a predator that just does whatever really there’s no real end game or point to them being there they just are and humans are getting involved being in the way. Like (spoilers) when Boyd Holdbrooks character is wearing the predator armour at the end I couldn’t believe what I was watching and he delivers a cheesy line and I think I just shook my head and walked out of the cinema thinking why did I not leave sooner.

This feels more like a rant which is basically is but if you feel the same then please add your 2 pence in I’m happy to rant some more

Following the formula of the first 2 Predator movies in which the films starts as a generic action flick set-up (military action film and gritty cop movie) and then the Predator shows up, what would be your ideal pitch for a new Predator film?

I really wish the later movie followed that original formula. I loved the idea of simply dropping the Predator into generic 80's action movies and I think there is so much potential out there with other tropes and genres.

What do you think would make a great setting or pitch for a new Predator movie in the spirit of the first 2 films?

Film Union Has Pulled My Work Permit Based On Attempt To Paint Me As A Workplace Sexual Predator. I Need To Save My Good Name And Reputation. Do I Have Enough Grounds For Civil Suit?

I have worked in the Ontario film industry on 26 different film projects over the past 6 years under the union status of "permittee" as a non-member of one of the big film crew unions. Recently, I applied for full membership in the union and a meeting to vote on new applicants was held mid-September via ZOOM.

At this closed meeting to which I had no access, a small group of detractors, in a concerted effort to keep me out of the union, lodged both written and verbal accusations against me that included a serious allegation of workplace sexual predation, namely: creeping around film sets surreptitiously taking pictures of women's backsides. This is completely fabricated from thin air to paint me as unfit for membership. Furthermore, I was also accused of two more allegations of uttering threats of physical harm. One of these has limited merit from an inconsequential argument two years ago on a non union-sanctioned production, but both have been convoluted/fabricated to fit a much more serious narrative.

As a result, this group of 3 or 4 people were able to persuade the majority of members in attendance to not only vote down my application for membership, but to also vote on a resolution to suspend my work permit pending the results of an internal investigation to be conducted by the executive board into the serious nature of the sexual predation allegation.

I was immediately emailed a letter notifying me that I could finish the show I was currently wrapping up, but could not start work on another show immediately following on which I had already been hired, as well as another two after that which I would have rolled over into with the same busy production company. In addition, I can not work on any other future union-sanctioned production until the whole thing is resolved and I can at least get my permittee status back, to say nothing of getting full membership...

I have not yet been afforded any opportunity to defend myself whatsoever. In fact, I haven't officially even been. told what any of the allegations actually are - their letter to me simply states they are "in receipt of several written complaints about unprofessional behaviour of a serious nature." I only learned about everything from a few friends who are members and were present at the meeting...

So here's my case as I see it:

  • I have been baselessly accused of a serious workplace sexual predation offence and have been libelled and slandered in the process
  • I have been accused of p

I watched all the films again and here are my personal rankings after almost 50 views on each film with exception of "The Predator".
  1. Predator

Easy spot here. The original film is the one that brought us the Yautja and is the most iconic for all the right reasons. Great premise, great execution. Actors, production value, good minimalistic story, great action and tension all come together in this masterclass of a film.

  1. Predators

May get a lot of flack for this, but Predators did a great job of innovating and not harming the source material while adding new things. I love the new Predators we see and the concept works well enough for me to get behind.

I do think the film miscast Adrian Brody but I appreciate his performance and genuine attempts to nail the role.

I wish it had a better budget because not all the effects live up well and some scenes are anticlimactic and poorly written. The characters are either hits or misses, but definitely the film I would watch the most besides the original. The third act is a little rollercoaster for me but the action and effort on practical effects makes me very pleased with the film.

  1. Predator 2

Good sequel, but it seems very formulaic and doesn't make a big enough jump to really make me feel like this is a film I must watch. I love what it does for the lore and the additions the City Hunter brings to the arsenal of weapons. Danny Glover does a good job with the role but I think the film suffers from a full first act trying to be a cop film and doesn't genre bend well like the first film. Besides that, enjoyable film with a great third act that does well to copy the first film and focus on a 1v1 struggle.

  1. AVP Requiem.

Movie is awful. No interesting story, does no justice to xenomorphs and is a generic movie for movies sake. If you watch this just to see how fucking cool Wolf is though, then you're in for a treat. The one saving grace of the film and he's cool as fuck. They nailed one thing down and that was him, wish he had a stand alone film. I just think the movie as a whole is too bad for me to justify it any higher.

  1. AVP Better of the two films for sure and Celtic and Scar are very cool, even if Celtic gets his shit rocked. I just don't like how we don't get the tension in other films and I think the movie suffers from the Predators having too much screen time. Weird complaint, but I would like more tension and build up and the human to predator relations is very cool, but drags the film down in some regards too. The Xeno fights are cool, but something about the way the Predators are basically just having a WWE figh

In the 1989 film Star Trek V: The Final Frontier, Captain James T. Kirk secretly spikes his chili recipe with whisky. First Officer Spock, upon discovering this sleight-of-hand, raises an eyebrow, confirming years of suspicion that Kirk is indeed a sexual predator with cunning tactics.

Fraud Film Composer and Potential Child Predator

This is not a witch hunt. This is a warning for people near my area and a warning for people who would potentially hire this man based on his lies. This is also a warning for teens who may be swindled by him.

If you know other good places to post this, please let me know.
