Postpartum bleeding - how long?

Just curious how long postpartum bleeding lasted for everyone? I am 2 weeks PP and mine has slowed down significantly and is almost non existent. But not sure if it will ramp up again randomly as I heard for some people it can last 6 weeks or more.

Postpartum bleeding

Hello ladies. I had a question about pp bleeding experience. I am 3w 4d pp with my second child, second csection. The bleeding from day one was very little. Like Those big pads felt like a waste to wear because I was barely bleeding. Is that normal?

With my first, I bleed a lot, a little heavier than my normal period. So it’s a little concerning to me. πŸ˜…

I get random days where I cramp and bleed a bit but this is a completely different postpartum experience than with my first.

4+3 postpartum new bleeding

Hi everyone, I had my little girl by c-section 4weeks+3 days ago. My bleeding and discharge stopped around 4 days ago but all of a sudden this morning I am bleeding bright red again? It's not a lot but enough to have a bit in my pee and quite a bit on the tissue. I have a liner on but it's not full or anything after 3 hours.

What do you guys think it could be?

Ps. I'm breastfeeding and supplementing.

Thanks in advance for any insight

Update: my bleeding is a bit heavier now and I've passed some clots. I called telehealth and they told me to get in touch with my GP. Still debating going to the E.R. it's just wait times are so long and I'm breastfeeding

Postpartum Bleeding

Hi all! I gave birth to a beautiful babygirl on April 18th! After birth I bled for about four weeks then stopped. Really shortly after I got my period, my dr agreed it was probably my first post baby cycle. I was super disappointed cause I’m exclusively breastfeeding so was hoping to get a few months period free. Well, I’m currently on day 21 of my period and I’m still heavily bleeding. I’m also having some pressure and pain where my stitches were. Really uncomfortable. I called my provider who said they were concerned but can’t get me in until the 21st. Definitely feeling off. Anyone else had this experience? How long was ur first period?

I'm barely doing anything but resting and breastfeeding and a daily walk, so I'm not just doing too much

5 weeks postpartum- bleeding and stitches

5 weeks PP and I have my 6 week checkup in a week. My bleeding pretty much stopped around 3 weeks PP aside from some orangish discharge but around 4 weeks PP it started up again. It's a bright red now, not enough to fill a pad, but so much that I can't just wear a panty liner. On top of that, I still have irritation around my stitches (I had a "complicated" second degree tear) and it feels like they aren't healed yet. Is this normal? FTM and I don't want to go in if this is usual stuff.

Thanks!!

Bleeding and clots 4 almost 5 weeks postpartum.

Hi everyone

I posted in a pp forum yesterday but I think I may need a bit more advise. My pp bleeding and Lochia tapered off and stopped 3-4 days ago. Unfortunately it started back up again yesterday and the bleeding is getting heavier and I passed a clot this morning it was longer but thin and also more jelly like). Bleeding not enough to soak a pad through in an hour (even 3hrs) and dark red.

I have no fever or pain. Should I be concerned?? I took a picture of the clot in the toilet for reference.

Continued intermittent bleeding, 10 weeks postpartum

29, female, African American, 5'7", 196 lbs Pre-existing conditions: sacroiliitis and lumbar pain, 10 year history Current medications: Alive! Women's multivitamin, DHA/EPA 500 mg, vitamin D 1000 IU, Zyrtec, Flonase

I had my third child on 1/29/2021 after an uncomplicated pregnancy (other than severe back pain due to pre-existing sacroiliitis and lumbar issues). I was induced at exactly 40 weeks due to back pain. The labor was uncomplicated, 6 hours long. Foley catheter, pitocin, and epidural were used. My daughter was 8 lbs 15 oz. I did not have gestational diabetes or preeclampsia. My pre-pregnancy weight was 182 lbs.

About six days after I gave birth, my blood pressure shot up to 160/99. I was admitted to the hospital, tests were run. No pre-eclampsia, but they did give me a beta blocker intravenously, which lowered it down to about 130/85. I was found to have a UTI, which was later treated with nitrofurantoin.

My blood pressure continues to hover around 130/85. This is much higher than it was before or during my pregnancy. It used to hover around 110/70.

My postpartum bleeding initially stopped on 2/19/21 at exactly 3 weeks postpartum. It returned at exactly 5 weeks on 3/5/21 and continued until 3/9. It returned again from 3/12 until 3/19, 3/27 until 4/4, and started again today, 4/10.

The bleeding is light to moderate most of the time, but heavy at times. I do not have any cramping or pain, no large clots, no fever, no strange smells. I did notice small amounts of yellow mucus in my underwear and while wiping, in between the times I was bleeding.

An ultrasound was done around 6 weeks postpartum and found to be normal. No fibroids or other abnormalities were found. Blood work was done -- CBC, TSH, etc., all normal.

My husband and I have only had sex three times, and with a condom every time. The sex was not rough, and intercourse lasted for less than 5 minutes each time. The bleeding does not seem to coincide with the times that we had sex.

I am exclusively pumping milk 3 to 4 times per day, producing 40 oz per day.

I'm currently seeing a midwife at my OBGYN office. Thinking about switching to a MD/DO instead. Are there any ideas as to what might be causing this abnormal bleeding?

The midwife had suggested it could be the return of my period, but it just seems so strange for me to be bleeding so often. I did not experience this after my other two pregnancies.

Thank you!

FTM seeking advice for postpartum bleeding -- maxi pads? Thinx? Depends?

What is the most practical and comfortable system for handling bleeding and discharge? I want to make sure I'm stocked up on whatever I need. My old period system was a menstrual cup with off-brand Thinx for backup, but obviously I can't use a cup postpartum. Will period panties suffice, or should I just get super-long overnight maxi pads and suck it up?

Postpartum Bleeding

So when I had my daughter, I was in the hospital recovery room for 3 days and shockingly I was bleeding pretty well all the doctors and nurses that came to check on me told me so. When I got home yeah I was bleeding lighter and lighter. Some days I won't bleed and just have some discharge.

Well last week I completely stopped bleeding so I thought, "Cool, that's great I guess I'm almost done!" I thought this because, my 6 weeks checkup is near and my doctor told me usually by this time I would stop bleeding, but they also told me that I could stop for awhile and bleed again, which actually happened 2 days ago. I went to the bathroom in the morning and there was like a lot of blood. Not bad that I have to go to the ER, it's more like a heavy period. I started clotting as well and it's got me worry. They are tiny but TMI, but like there are some clots that look really weird and suspicious to me.

I don't know, maybe I'm overthinking it but it's definitely got me sketched out, and wonder if this is normal. I would go into more details with the clotting but I don't know if anyone would want to hear about that gross info lmfao.

Postpartum Bleeding

Currently 5 days postpartum, and honestly feeling spectacular! Way better than I imagined, I was prepared for intense bed rest and severe pain, but haven’t needed anything for pain management (ibuprofen) since day 2. Went into spontaneous labor on 40+2 after a fall while jogging (my dumbass trying to kickstart labor. But hey! It worked.) I labored for about 37 hours in total, but got our little bean out in 10 minutes of pushing, and luckily got away with only one tiny β€œskid mark” of a subcutaneous tear. (Thank-goodness for small baby genes I guess)

From what the doctor and nurses told me to expect, and everything I’ve found online, I was imagining much more bleeding than I’m experiencing now. I used the adult depends diapers for day 1-3, though the bleeding by day 3 was so light I decided to go to pads that night. Now on day 5 pads seem to even be too much and I’ve only been using liners. I’m still passing the occasional quarter-sized tissue clot, but the bleeding is 10x lighter than my normal periods are.

I plan to call the doc on Monday just to make sure (it’s Friday night over here), but I’m assuming she’ll probably tell me it’s fine as I’m feeling basically my pre-pregnant self other than some perineal pain, and feeling a bit sleep deprived.

Has anyone else experienced light postpartum bleeding, or is this perhaps normal for other mothers? Does it tend to increase at a certain time postpartum? I’m still experiencing light contractions/cramping during BF, but I’m also antsy sitting around all day so I’ve been doing a fair amount of standing/walking in between feeds which I would’ve thought would increase bleeding, so I’m a bit confused!

Period underwater for postpartum bleeding.

Hi guys, I'm usually team cup, so I've never used period undies before and I'm a bit overwhelmed by the options. I'm expecting my first baby in July, and I know there will be some pretty intense bleeding, especially at first but I don't really know what to expect. I do not want to have to use disposables if I can avoid it, and my cup obviously isn't going to work.

Has anyone used period undies for post partum bleeding? Will they be absorbent enough? Are the suitable for that type of bleeding? How many pairs am I going to need? Are there any recommendations for brands?

Any and all advice appreciated!

More or less what the title says. I'm due in two months, and I was looking for some recommendations for reusable pads or period panties that can stand up to Postpartum Bleeding. I've never used either before, as usually I'm a menstrual cup type of gal, but after my first pregnancy, it was a good six months before I was comfortable using my cup, and I was forced to use disposable pads. I far, far prefer the lack of waste that reusable offer, but they are an investment, so I'd like to hear from some experienced voices before I buy.

Postpartum bleeding returns after driving and using rocking chair?

I'm officially 3 weeks postpartum today. I'd say just around the 2 week mark my bleeding tapered off, and became mostly just a regular discharge. However, after I hit the 2 week mark, on two different days I drove short distances (grocery store pickup, and coffee run), and began to bleed again. I've also noticed this happening when using a rocking chair. I had stopped using the rocking chair the first week bc I had noticed an increase in bleeding after using it, every time. I don't feel like I'm bleeding an alarming amount, but I am wondering if I should hold off from these activities and then try again in a week or so? I'll probably speak to my obgyn about it, but wanted to see if anyone experienced anything similar.

Postpartum Bleeding; how much is too much?

I had my baby 2 weeks ago. I bled right after fairly heavily, and the bleeding slowed down and eventually turned really thin and watery and pink. Yesterday I started bleeding bright red again, like a light period. Today, 13 days postpartum, I had a gush of bright red that soaked a pad and a few clots. For the last hour I've had a steady trickle of bleeding and light cramping.

Is this normal in y'all's experience? It's Saturday night so I can't call my OB. My only option is the ER, which I'm nervous about due to Covid19.

I'm not sure how much bleeding is too much, or if there's anything I can do at home to slow this down. I'm also not sure how long to wait at home before I get worried.

I’m currently 8 weeks postpartum and have been on the mini pill since week 4. My postpartum bleeding tapered off completely around 5 weeks. I’ve noticed a bit of spotting for the last week or so and today it’s gotten slightly heavier, but no where near as heavy as any period I’ve ever had. Also for the record I’m breastfeeding exclusively.

Because of this I’m questioning if this is actually my period or some other bleeding problem. I’m not crampy or moody (any more than usual anyway haha). I haven’t have my postpartum check up because my OB got COVID, so he’s out of office. I’m supposed to see him next week so I can ask then.

Until then, I’m just wondering what others’ experiences have been with their first postpartum period while on the mini pill, and also in combination with breastfeeding. Thanks in advance!

Postpartum bleeding and BF/pumping?

Hi! Looking for any similar experiences...

I am still bleeding from a vaginal delivery and I’ll be 6 weeks postpartum on Monday. I thought it was going away at 3.5 weeks but it picked up to the level of a period from then to now.

I’m just realizing it started when my LO started taking more at each feed and I started pumping with the Spectra. I just recently have been trying to stretch him to go 3 hours between feeds so doing more BF at a time and also pumping, and the level of bleeding has not subsided.

I saw my doctor yesterday and we ran a blood test for the pregnancy hormone to see if there was any retained placenta and it came back negative. I’m still going to get an ultrasound to be sure but that’s not for a couple weeks, since I still have some internal tears that need to heal before the wand goes on.

So, has anyone else experienced extended bleeding from an increase in BF or pumping volume?!

Hello, I gave birth 10 weeks ago. C-Section. I exclusively breastfeed as well as pump multiple times a day to build a stash. My PP bleeding stopped around week 4.

So, yesterday I started spotting, cramping and having lower back pain like I’m having a period. It’s very light spotting, mostly just there when I wipe, but it feels like an actual period.

Isn’t it kind of early for a period, and late for postpartum bleeding?
