A list of puns related to "Polyuria"
For context Iβm 27 M. I was recently diagnosed with ADD and Iβm on my second week of treatment with 30 mg of Vyvanse.
The first two weeks have gone well in terms of actual ADD and ADHD symptoms. Iβve seen marked improvement. Aside from the occasional restless and pacing every now and then.
For the most part I havenβt had any major symptoms, on the medication aside from a panic attack and noticeably increased pulse the first day I took it. However I have noticed that while on the medicine, I drink a lot of water and I end up peeing a lot. I donβt know if Iβm peeing a lot and then Iβm drinking the water or vice versa. Iβm averaging maybe one trip to pee, and peeing a fair amount (very clear) about every hour. Also finishing a bottle of water in about an hour or 1 every 90 mins-2 hours.
My question is, should I be concerned? Is this a fairly common side effect or should I consult with a doctor. From a medical standpoint I think that if our pulse or BP goes up on Vyvanse then perhaps the body tries to compensate by excreting fluid. Kind of like how diuretics work for hypertension. However I couldnβt find any info online on this, so I thought might as well ask Reddit.
Thank you and God Bless.
Hi there,
I can't make anything about my symptoms, that I have for six weeks now (started three weeks after COVID-19 vaccination).
I have now stopped the PPI for 10 days. The first two days were pretty okay, then the rebound hit and I got heartburn and lost my appetite again. Heartburn is manageable, but I am also losing weight again.
My biggest problem is that polyuria seems to be getting worse. And it's rather strange to be honest:
Any ideas of experience? I fee

This is a very embarrassing question to ask, but has anyone ever gone to take the USMLE Step 1 wearing either a diaper or a catheter? I tend to use the toilet a lot and noticed that after every UWorld block I take, I get a strong urge to use the restroom. And recently, I've been considering using a diaper or a catheter during my actual test, so that using the bathroom doesn't take up a lot of my time during breaks.
Has anyone ever done this before, and if so, how uncomfortable did it make you feel? Did it distract you considerably during the exam? And did you have anything like UTI afterwards? Thanks in advance.
And no, I don't have diabetes, thankfully. I tested my blood sugar and HbA1c on several occasions and it's all normal.
How does the excess presence of glucose in the filtrate lead to excretion of water and an increase in urine volume? Thanks for any help provided!
I've tested it out and when he doesn't drink too much water for 2 hours, he starts only peeing when he poops and the pee is way less than usual (usually it's like alot) how can i manage polyuria and how long can be go without water? Can i just give him water once a day and then take it away till the next day or maybe give him water 2-3 times a day and then take it away so he doesn't over drink and pee a lot
25 Male here, 140 lbs. In January, I startrd having polyuria, peeing greater than 3L a day. This also gave me nocturia, waking up at least once a night to use the restroom.
I lie awake here at 5am because of polyuria and nocturia that has gotten worse. My doctorβs have done all sorts of test, ranging from CT Urogram, countless CMB panels (kidney function is healthy), electrolytes are good, urinalysis are clean too. At first we were suspecting diabetes insipidus but my urine does have the ability to concentrate, sometimes concentrating fairly fastβ¦.
We have no idea where to turn to next. They say my function looks okay, and we will be doing a cystoscopy. Tonight, I have woken up to pee at 2:30am, 4am, and 5amβ¦all substantial volumes with some yellow tint. Anyone have any suggestions where to turn to?
Hi All,
24M here. In January, I started having frequency and polyuria which is peeing > 3L in a day. This has been going on for almost three months despite my urinalysis and 24hr urine test being clean.
My urine is clear for the most part, and a little yellow if I hold it in long enough. My doctors are lost and decided to rule out diabetes insipidus cuz why not.
My urologist told me that it canβt be IC since my main symptom is polyuria, with a teeny bit of pelvic pain. Has anyone ever just had polyuria alone, without other symptoms? Is my urologist valid?

I only feel somewhat good when sedentary. I somehow get through work (physical job) and just am beyond exhausted. Canβt afford to not work. Really need help. 36M, 6β2β, 202lbs, no prescription drugs, retinal detachment 12 yr ago, otherwise healthy, no drugs, no alcohol (in fact even slightly alcohol consumption makes me feel very sick now)
5 years ago I was denied life insurance as my urinalysis showed +2 blood. I felt pretty good. I was borderline in the best shape of my life. PCP at the time tells me "probably the weight-lifting", yeah, maybe but PCP refers me to nephrologist. Nephro runs urine and blood and says βthere is slight blood and slight protein in the urine...but the bloodwork is totally normal. So, your kidneys are functioning just fine. Follow up with me in 6 months.β I do that, then we start seeing once a year, etc. I feel I have always drank a LOT of water, possibly what many would consider excessive (just over a gallon usually)...but I was weight-lifting and playing basketball. Always pee into toilet obviously. So, never really tracked the volume. Years ago I started to get some pain in my left kidney in the middle of the night, urination would relieve the pain. This comes and goes.At one point (after noticing Iβm always the only guy under 60 in the waiting room)...I asked the kidney specialist βwhat do you think this is?β He said,βI donβt know. Thereβs an outside chance you could have IgA nephropathy. But, thatβs only diagnosed on biopsy, and with you doing pretty well. I donβt want to put you through a biopsy (apparently kidney biopsyβs are pretty invasive, bleeding risks, etc.). Plus thereβs no cure anyways.β
So this goes on for like 5 years. But again, Iβve been active. Iβve been doing well. Even now I am working, productive.

Lately she had has polyuria and polydipsia.
She is drinking so much water and peeing so much more than normal. She is very tired and lethargic.
Since she was spayed in Spring 2018 we have battled constantly with her weight, and feed her extremely carefully in line with vet guidance on underfeeding for neutered dogs. All food is carefully weighed and measured out. But she still gains.
She was spayed just before we adopted her, we are not sure if it was the appropriate time in her cycle after heat to do this, but the charity insists all adopted animals are spayed before rehoming.
We have taken her to the vet already, who did a urine test and a thyroid blood test. The blood test came back clear and the only thing they said about the urine test was that it was quite diluted. She is not diabetic.
The vet said there is not much more they can do apart from telling us to manage her diet so her weight goes down.
We have been doing just this for 2.5 years with literally no positive progress.
We even followed the vet prescription diet to the letter with her for 6 months under the vet's supervision, and she put on weight. The vet said they had never seen that happen before.
She walks an hour a day at least.
We are quite worried about her, and I would have thought that a full blood screen and a thorough health check would be practical next steps.
Can anyone help us with some suggestions so I have some options for when I call the vet to get a second opinion organised please?
Thank you in advance!
Warning: wall of text. Sorry :( I'm desperate. Also, lots of poop mentions.
My Linnie is 6 years old, she's always been chatty, eaten a diet of pellet, and been generally healthy. She doesn't really eat vegetables/fruits, only tears them up and throws the bits around.
At this time, she started to drink a LOT of water and straight up urinating. There's some stool mixed in sometimes, but she urinates frequently to the point where the paper at the bottom of her cage is sopping wet every day or 2. Even though her mood is still good and she shows no other symptoms, this is a LOT of fluid.
The vet was extremely busy during this time and it was difficult to get an appointment, but arrangements were made and finally we are able to get some help. I tell the vet i'm worried as she is drinking so much water, i'm scared for her kidneys and how much fluid she's processing, but vet says diabetes is VERY rare in birds, especially birds which are healthy and not overconditioned. Linnie receives a physical and cropwash /gram stain, is diagnosed with a yeast overgrowth and is sent off with some medication. I am told by vet that sometimes they drink more water to try to flush an infection from the system.
After 2 weeks, medication is completed but linnie continues to show symptoms. i purchased a food scale during this time to track her weight daily, and find her weight to be consistent during this time. We went back to the vet and she got another gram stain/ crop wash and we were told she had a bacterial overgrowth now that the yeast was under control. Sent off with antibiotics.
Two weeks pass again, linnie's symptoms persist. The vet called me and suggested we switch to just a bit of linnie's regular pellet in the morning, then free-feed seed the rest of the day, just to see if this helped anything. After about a week of this nothing was changing, her weight is still consistent (49grams), but she begins sleeping during the day a lot. Her cage is in my bedroom, so i often hear her gulping water from her bottle at night, this led me to believe she was losing sleep due to the excessive thirst.
We go back to the vet again and i explain i'm getting really scared etc. Vet does her physical and linnie passes a huge puddle of urine at this time, vet calls me back and says it's very concerning and asks permission to perform urinalysis, to which i agree. It is found that the urine contains a lot of glucose and vet explains linnie may be diabetic. We arrange to get linni
... keep reading on reddit β‘Hi, first time poster. Let me start this off by saying I am an extremely anxious person who cannot for the life of my calm down about anything. My pet(s) health is something I panic about on a regular basis, however Iβm very worried about my baby right now. My cockatiel is around 3 years old and has always been a huge part of my life. Itβs not uncommon to find me freaking out every few weeks because I think she might be sick, however this time Iβm very worried.
On Monday, 1/20, I thought my cockatiel was having diarrhea. Her vent was extremely dirty and her poops looked watery. I made her an appointment for Thursday 1/23 and kept an eye on her. She acted completely normal, grinding her beak and preening herself a LOT, which is when I realized she was also molting. After about an hour of me agonizing, her poops suddenly returned to normal!
So, come Thursday, the vet calls and says their avian vet called out sick and that I can still come in, but I wonβt be seeing an avian vet. I really weighed my options, but in the end decided it would probably just be a waste of time to see someone who wasnβt familiar with birds. We rescheduled the appointment for Monday 1/27 instead.
That leads us to today. I notice my cockatiel is having watery droppings again, but this time it looks different. There is still fully solid urates and feces in her droppings, just A LOT of urine. Naturally, Iβm freaking out now because Iβm worried sheβs getting worse. I was hoping sheβd go back to normal after the fiasco Monday, but polyuria is uncommon for her. And there are no emergency vets that operate over the weekend. I feel like I want to rip my hair out and cry my eyes out over this. She is still eating and drinking lots of water and preening a lot, but I do notice sheβs hesitant to grind her beak. When I hold her she will occasionally ask for cuddles, but spends almost all over her time preening her feathers. She wonβt just relax and grind her beak like she usually does. Iβm watching over her like a hawk, basically.
Is it possible that her polyuria is being caused by the stress of her molt? She has seemed grumpier recently. And we recently introduced a dog into our house who she is not fond of at all. I know that every case is different, but I was hoping someone might be able to calm my anxiety over her a bit.
(Tldr: bad diet 3 years ago, 2 years being vegan, low creatinine levels, thirsty and peeing a lot) This is going to be a long post, but please help. Hi, I know that this should be addressed with a doctor, but since quarantine I can't and I'm getting fed up of all this. I had a blood test 6~ months ago, where it showed that I had creatinine levels of 0.63 (+ low numbers on some white cells). Well, about 5-4 months ago, I started peeing a lot despite not drinking that much, and also getting really thirsty throughout the day. The peeing intensifies at night, since I go to the bathroom about 3-4 times before sleeping and 1 time midnight. Are the creatinine levels causing this? Or what can it be? What can I do? Note: 20 year old Male, 1.53 cm, 44.5 kg. I had a bad diet 3 years ago, dropping to 37 kg at my lowest, and started doing something about it 2 years ago, but with a vegan diet, that I think might also be harming my health (I'm really considering eating meat again)
Has anyone dealt with polyuria in their tiel? Mine has had consistently runny droppings for the last 4 or 5 years. The AV doesn't seem that concerned and tests showed normal kidney function, etc. I don't think it's stress because she wants to nest and tries to lay eggs all the time. Tiels normally won't do that unless they're comfortable. 90% of the time her droppings are liquid urine with a solid green tube of poop.
She's on a mostly pellet diet. She likes hard crunchy things and isn't a big fan of lettuce and other veggies. She does seem to drink a lot of water for a cockatiel but I'm not sure why. I give her a pinch or two of seeds every morning. I'll give her little bits of what I'm eating. Tiny pieces of peanuts, cracker, a few grains of white rice, banana or apple (not the seeds).
I thought the RAAS system will counter that. Plus isnt the excess fluid extravascular
As above, isolated proteinuria is almost never stated as a cause of polyuria and polydipsia. Why is this the case? Does this hold true for both nephrotic syndrome and sub-nephrotic range isolated proteinuria?
Weβre scheduled to get neutered at the end of this month. Assuming the issue doesnβt worsen, or other symptoms emerge, weβre going to have our vet look into the situation during his appointment. Hoping to get some insight in the meantime. Heβs 45ish pounds, 5.5 months old, not neutered (yet), eats dry kibble, not experiencing increased water intake, pit bull puppy. Heβs had frequent accidents in the house, since we took him home at 12 weeks of age, despite being taken out for potty training every 30-45 minutes. We assumed he was just struggling to learn, since weβre his third home since only 12 weeks of age. However, within the last week or so, Iβve noticed that he has some major accidents (in volume), and then once taken outside, immediately upon discovery of said accident, he will pee another normal to excessive amount outside. Sometimes he has these accidents while walking or sitting, like he just canβt hold it any longer, despite having been out relatively recently. Iβve also noticed discharge from his penis ever so often. The last time I noticed some, it was green in color. However, we had also been playing in freshly cut grass, so it could have been a contribution to the color, or appearance of colored discharge. Otherwise, the discharge is usually milky white in color. No other symptoms. Very playful, very energetic, good appetite. I may talk to his vet today about running by a dirty catch urine sample in the meantime.
Signalment: Dog, 14 years old, Male/neutered, Beagle, 25lbs
History: My dog has historically been a champion at holding his bladder throughout the day and part of that I'm sure could be credited to his lack of thirst (although a bowl of water was left out for him, there would always be water left). My parents took care of him while I was on vacation and they tend to spoil him with random foods, unsure what was given, but generally healthy vegetables, peanuts etc. I don't give him any human food and stick with just dog food. My parents mentioned he started peeing around the house more and should be careful cause he's getting older. At the time I thought maybe my parents just gave him too much food with liquids or maybe something salty so he was drinking a lot. Although once I got my doggo back he has been CONSTANTLY 24/7 thirsty and licking the water bowl dry which I believe is leading to his weak bladder now (no more iron bladder). It's raining in SoCal right now and he even constantly licked the ground while I was walking him today (NEVER DONE THIS BEFORE). My dog's behavior is completely normal otherwise, he is not showing signs of pain, still has energy, tail wagging, and still an appetite.
Signs: Polydipsia and Polyuria. My dog will drink any amount of water in the bowl and even look for water anywhere. He actually got on the coffee table when I was gone one day and knocked over a glass just to drink water. This has lead to accidents whenever I come home. He has been good about holding his bladder while I am home but that is also cause I am walking him more frequently while home.
Length of Time: 3 to 4 weeks
Test Results: I took him to the vet about 1 week ago, they performed blood tests and urine culture analysis and everything came back normal in their opinion. This was disheartening as I was hoping this was being caused by a UTI or something minor like this. A link to his results can be found in the link below:
Location: SoCal
Please please help out with any advice that I can do to help curb his Polydipsia or if anyone has similar experiences to this. Need to solve this as coming home every day is scary to see where the massive puddle of pee will be :(
Thanks in advance for your advice!
Hi,
This suggests that hypovolemia or low blood volume could be important:
https://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pubmed/30525014
I had severe polyuria starting in childhood, and recurrent dizziness when standing or sitting but not when exercising. Anyone else have similar issues? Anyone have solutions?
Thanks!
Our 18 year old cockatiel has had polyuria for 2+ years. No other health problems that we know of. Her droppings always have excess urine. Sometimes, her droppings will be mostly urine, with maybe a speck of feces.
Aside from the polyuria, she behaves normally. She plays, eats, drinks etc. She's very alert etc.
She used to lay eggs every few months, but in the spring of 2016, we got her several dummy eggs, and she hasn't laid any eggs since then.
She still gets hormonal every now and then- we usually resolve this by keeping her cage covered for longer periods of time during the day.
Her weight has stayed consistent.
Back in May of 2018, we took her to our vet. We got a lab test done, and she had elevated levels of klebsiella in her stool. We put her on Baytril for a month, but that didn't affect the polyuria.
In December of 2018, we took her again and got some blood work done. Her lip levels were high, but the vet thought this was likely because of her hormonal behavior at the time. Her livers and kidneys seemed OK too.
Since January, she's been on a Milk Thistle + Omega 3 supplements.
Here's what her droppings have looked like from May 2017 - present:
I'm making this post because her droppings today have been extremely watery, and I'm not sure why. Again, she's not behaving differently. These extremely watery droppings seem to happen every few months.
Currently, the heat in our apartment is off, and we're in the middle of a cold snap. It's been 62 degrees in our apartment for the past 5 days. Could the cold have anything to do with it?
Has anyone else had something like this with their bird? If so, what action did you take?
Any thoughts on the cause?
Diet:
She was on LaFeber's at seed for around 15 years (before we had her). We switched her to Lafebers's cockatiel pellets in for 2016-2017. She ate LaFeber'sclassic nutri-berries for most of 2018, but our Vet thought it'd be better to switch back to pure pellets. She was on Zupreem for most of this year, then 5 days ago we switched back to Lafebers's cockatiel pellets since she seems to like them more.
She doesn't eat fruits or vegetables, though not for lack of us trying.
31/M here. I'm a doctor but I don't want to self diagnose as I work in a surgical subspecialty and have forgotten most of my IM.
Last night I suddenly began experiencing fatigue and body pains. Within the last 6 hours I've passed urine 4 times and have been extremely thirsty. Urine is light straw in colour.
I now have a headache as well.
Of note I had tetanus and yellow fever vaccinations 6 days ago but no symptoms after the vaccine.
Not a smoker, moderately drink alcohol, had maybe 4 drinks 2 days ago and none for about 2 weeks prior to that.
No other known medical problems. Strong family history of DM but I usually check my fasting glucose levels every few months and it's always normal.
Oh, I'm also moving to a new country in a few days so excited/stressed out about that. Possible psychosomatic?
My 8 month Shorty Bull was just spayed about 72 hours ago in MD. I was given a 10 day supply of Simplicef during her recovery. After 24+ hours her polyuria became increasingly obvious. Prior to this she hasnβt gone to the bathroom in the house in months, but now she canβt stop. Sheβs trying to pee 50+ times a day now. The Simplicef website doesnβt list polyuria as a common side effect. Is this okay or is there something seriously wrong?
Im trying to write a short explanation between the two. I know that they are both characterized by increased urination. But what are their differences? Can they be used interchangeably? Thank you in advance!
