Celine Nano Belt Bag in Light Taupe from NTS Tom and JXG Factory

Celine Nano Belt Bag in Light Taupe from NTS Tom and JXG Factory

Looking for a great low key bag for everyday wear? Well look no further! I present to you the taupe Celine Belt Bag in nano size. It's well reviewed on here for a reason, ladies. πŸ†

A lot of the Celine bags are IYKYK bags IMO, and this one is no different. Classy and understated - she's the perfect addition to my collection.

This bag comes in several sizes, and I spent lot of time debating between the pico, nano and micro. This blog post has a helpful summary as all of the names are confusing. The largest size is called the "mini" and its huge!

Reasons why this bag is great:

  • Low key branding but still a flex for people in the know. πŸ’ͺ🏼
  • Adjustable crossbody strap - this is key for me as a shorter gal. NOTE: the crossbody strap for the micro size is not adjustable.
  • Zip top - makes me feel more secure carrying the bag. BUT there are still the large gaps on the sides, so lipsticks and items can potentially slip out of you're not careful.
  • Magnetic closure - easy in and out.
  • Spacious for its size - fits my phone, keys, wallet, sunglasses, knick knacks and even room for some small snacks. Youtube video for reference.

DISCLOSURES - No discounts or incentives were offered in exchange for this review. I did tell Tom that the bag arrived safely and he asked me to write a review. I was going to write a review regardless so his request does not affect this review.

SELLER INFO

FACTORY - JXG

PRICE AND PAYMENT METHOD - $175 USD via Paypal F&F (I was told this price included the RL discount)

SHIPPING COST AND CARRIER - $45 to USA via Fedex

TIMELINE

  • 6/16 - Message Tom on Whatsapp a screenshot of the bag from his album and ask if it's in stock and price info. He responds literally two minutes later with my requested info. I make sure to confirm that I have ordered the nano size. I pay that evening.
  • 6/17 - I receive PSPs and immediately green light. NEXT DAY PSPs?! Must be sorcery! πŸ§™πŸ»β€β™‚οΈ

Strigoii by M. Eminescu (1876)

Here is a piece of vampire literature actually from the Balkans. Although I couldn't understand the original Roumanian text, the translation made me enjoy it deeply. The story is similar to Orpheus and Eurydice from Greek mythology. Here, a King asks a druid (Solomonari) to revive his dead beloved. But how would this end?

English (trans. C.M. Popescu)

... for it fades away like smoke above the earth.
They bloomed like flowers, were cut like grass,
Wrapped up in a linen and buried in the ground

Within an ancient church with lofty soaring dome,
Between tall waxen candles, does in her coffin lie,
Her face towards the altar, wrapped in white drapery,
The bride of brave King Harold, the King of Avari,
While softly chanted dirges do from the darkness come.

Upon the dead girl's breast a wreath of jewels glows,
Her golden hair hangs loosely over the coffin side,
Her eyes are sunken deep; a sad smile sanctified
Rest on her parched lips, that death to mauve has dyed
While is her lovely face as pale as winter snows.

Beside her on his knees is Harold, mighty King,
And from his bloodshot eyes does shine untold despair,
His mouth with pain is drawn, dishevelled is his hair.
Though like a lion he would roar, grief holds him silent
there;
Three days he thinks upon his life in nameless sorrowing.

"I was still but a child. Within the pine-tree glade
My greedy eyes already had conquered many a land,
I dreamed an empire grow beneath my fancy's wand,
I dreamed the world entire was under my command,
The foaming Volga's ford I fathomed with my blade.

Countless mighty hosts my youthful zeal led forth
By whom as of some God my name was worshipped.
I felt the very earth tremble beneath my tread;
Before my marching hosts the wandering nations fled,
Crowding in their terror the empty frozen North.

For Odin had deserted his frosty ancient home,
Down long and tortuous ways his wandering people went;
Priests with snowy locks and backs that time had bent
Roused and led through forests where peace an age had spent
Thousand diverse tongues along the way to Rome.

One eve my troops I camped upon the Nistru's side,
Intending on the morrow your battle host to quell;
But there amidst your councillors I came beneath your spell;
Before your marble loveliness my eyes in wonder fell,
So fearless you stood, in all your childish pride.

*Before your soft reproach my words dried on my tongue.
I strove to make an a

6/25 may be the week of June’s highest QS spike. Or not.

I take all unusual options activity with a grain of salt, but here’s an observation.

The largest June rally climaxed on 6/8, which is also the first date I noticed a QS unusual options activity notice. It was a bullish sweep of OTM Calls. $39 Calls for .62 to be precise. Sweep volume was 2,000.

At the moment, those same Calls are trading around .03 and there’s an Open Interest of 3,230.

Nice that I can point that out now, but I haven’t monitored the activity in the mean time - so innumerable possibilities abound:

  1. someone got overly excited, and was on the wrong side of the trade
  2. they’re already out of the trade, bought in volume, then parched off at small profits
  3. used the volume position as cover to sell short, yet have protection on the upside
  4. No. 3 above through today, but will no longer be selling short next week, … , looking for the bounce back to the upside
  5. Other

Either way, it will be interesting to see if there’s actually any movement. The bullish sweeps were slated for end of June / beginning of July.

I’ll be calmly holding and just watching. I’m leaving my upside open, just in case, as I don’t want shares called away if I’m petty writing OTM Calls for premium as I have up until now.

DAD JOKES ARE NOT DIRTY.

Go post NSFW jokes somewhere else. If I can't tell my kids this joke, then it is not a DAD JOKE.

If you feel it's appropriate to share NSFW jokes with your kids, that's on you. But a real, true dad joke should work for anyone's kid.

Mods... If you exist... Please, stop this madness. Rule #6 should simply not allow NSFW or (wtf) NSFL tags. Also, remember that MINORS browse this subreddit too? Why put that in rule #6, then allow NSFW???

Please consider changing rule #6. I love this sub, but the recent influx of NSFW tagged posts that get all the upvotes, just seem wrong when there are good solid DAD jokes being overlooked because of them.

Thank you,

A Dad.

Authentic

I’ve never seen myself as a bucket bag type of girl, but I follow a small luxury instagrammer and I immediately fell in LOVE with this bag. So versatile, and will my very first empreinte piece. I was between the empreinte neonoe and empreinte artsy mm for a while. I did try to get the auth of this for quite a while, but I never saw it come in stock. I can hardly find it anywhere. It seems not a lot of people even have it! Must have been a very limited release.

I did purchase the 1:1 highest quality version from OC which is supposed to be 100% accurate.

Quality - 9.5/10

β€’ Stitching is great all around.

β€’ Stamp looks a little β€œblurry” could be crisper (-.5)

β€’ I was expecting to receive a parched and dry empreinte leather but the leather on this looks great. Has a bit of natural shine to it. Will condition it after I get some wear in.

β€’ Leather feels exactly the same as an auth empreinte piece. Same exact grain. Doesn’t feel β€œrubbery” like some reps can.

β€’ The texture and quality of this empreinte leather is amazing. Absolutely luxurious!

β€’ Zipper runs very smooth.

β€’ No fufu smell is always a plus.

Accuracy - 10/10

β€’ Height: 10.25 in (accurate) β€’ Width: 6.5 in (half an inch too narrow) β€’ Top strap drop: 5 in (half an inch too big) β€’ Crossbody strap drop can be adjusted so I’m not going to bother measuring that.

Again, take these measurements with a grain of salt as this all depends on how much the bag is used and worn and broken into/stretched out. Obviously the bag from Fashionphile was pre owned, so.

β€’ Monogram pattern lines up correctly on all sides of the bag.

β€’ Empreinte/logo stamping appears to be the correct depth. Embossing is very crisp.

β€’ Sizing and weight of the hardware is excellent. The gold tone is also not too yellow or

Has anyone tried toasting and then steaming rice grains?

I recently made toasted rice powder to use in Thai dishes and was wondering - what would it taste like if I steamed the unground toasted rice grains?

I know several countries have scorched rice dishes, but it seems like that tends to be done by "overcooking" untoasted rice, rather than toasting uncooked grains and then cooking them.

Has anyone tried steaming toasted rice grains the way you would steam normal, untoasted rice? Or is toasted rice - which I've only heard of being used in Thai/Lao dishes - usually ground into a powder?

There are Bones in Our Mouth

I need some solid, constructive criticism for this. Please feel free to tear it apart as much as you can.

I can't believe you were the smartest kid in class.

Porch light eyes, Guardian Angel of The Unredeemed

C-graders, you talked like you carried the burden of the skies

between your barely pink ears.

The back of your shiny head laughed at us

and me and Anne-Marie flicked erasers at your head in reply,

and I can't believe that made you laugh.

Legs grew too long beneath our parents’ tables,

icicles wept like old mothers, and it must have been that one

summer we stole your dad's car and drove to the Grand Canyon

to watch the sun tumble from the sky into our laps.

So much excitement it overflowed from our mouths,

we couldn't stop laughing.

we couldn't stop touching.

Rivers persisted and carved the earth grain by grain.

Light danced on cliffs and we couldn't stop kissing.

Time couldn't stop rearing her ugly head,

and clouds broke across a stubborn summer sky.

You called me, your voice cracked like the parched earth

"My mother is no more."

and I heard something crash behind my door knob,

something decaying, wilting. I found blackened leaves

under a sun so warm, but I was cold. So fucking cold.

The silence in my chest threatened to stab it's way out.

I wanted to hold you once more, pull you back under the sheets,

kiss your mouth till it bled more than your heart,

drive us to the Grand Canyon and get our smiles back.

"I'm so sorry" I held my breath and

the world crashed in your throat.

My breath is stuck in my lungs ever since. It's grown thorns

that have crawled into my skin, and now look at us,

just look, we’re more tired than we ever were.

We never grew up past that summer,

two children trying to mimic adults lives.

In another life across the galaxies, we grow flowers in our garden,

get a dog, Sundays mean cheese nachos and trash tv.

We breathe love and this darkness never knocks at our home.

We could have been something worthwhile.

But you're under a different sky, under a different skin,

holding the burden of the skies between your head.

There are stars blazing in my hands and

your face is floating in the ashes

We'll love someday when we're alive again.

My son accidentally handed me a dad joke on a platter and it was glorious.

This happened a few years ago when my son was 6ish. When my kids hurt themselves and it doesn’t look serious I always do the β€œwe might have to amputate that bruised hand” shtick with them. I’ve done it enough that they now roll their eyes.

So, my son got hit lightly in the face with a rubber ball. It wasn’t a hard hit and I could tell he was more upset by the shock of it rather than the pain. So I say β€œlooks like we will have to amputate your nose.” To which he replies β€œthen how will I smell?” And I say β€œterrible!”

It was my greatest dad joke ever. I felt like I could retire after that.

On the romanticizing of history and the deification of historic monarchs

While many other periods of history are romanticized, medieval Indian history has been romanticized to ridiculous lengths. In movies, tv shows, pop culture etc., we usually see an over-reverence of past kings such as Shivaji and Rana Pratap. In these shows, there are excessive references to an imagined sense of pride i.e. Rajput pride and Maratha pride, eloquent expressions of valor and bravery, the duty of defense, patriotism, and love for the motherland, warriors singing songs about their Maratha or Rajput identity and marching away to lay their life for the safety of their people and women. Such kind of Rajput pride and Maratha pride is embodied and overly expressed by people, especially Hindu nationalists, even today. Monarchs of medieval India are held to near Godly status. Let’s look back at how what the reality would actually be back then.

In reality, this was not the case. Going out for war wasn’t a matter of pride back then, the way a family today is honored if a member of that family is in the military. What it actually was is a means for the soldier to earn his bread and feed his family. Soldiers might have been stirred up and motivated by their generals before a battle using references to some ideals of either religion, ethnicity, or land, but that was not what the entirety of their warrior lives revolved around. For them, war was a day job like any other, a day job that involved terror, horror, severe injuries, and death. If this was so horrific, what made them do it? The answer is either poverty, slavery, or being forced into fighting by a king, and for him.

The common people were nothing but chess pieces for the kings to help them attain and secure their power, their dominion, and their luxuries. Every king had only these three things on their mind. Unlike the common belief that people have today when they revere these people (even people in those days did not revere them), the actual monarchs had nothing to do with defending motherland or religion when they were out fighting or rather, making people fight for them. It was only to gain power and later to defend their own thrones and subsequently their dominion and lives of luxury. People make entire stories and fables to say they fought to preserve religion, nationhood from foreigners, and women from lustful men. Neither of these is true; religion was always used by kings only to give themselves a supposed divine right to rule (and this was true not just of Christendom but for every single

Proud dad moment.

Keep in mind, my son is 4 years old, so everything is an original to him.

I had to work late into the evening yesterday, and he was just going to bed when I got home. I had left home for the office nearly 14 hours prior, had a long day, lots of meetings, traffic, etc.

When I walked through the door, I was exhausted, run down, and starving. My wife hugged me and asked how my day was, and I replied, "Done. It was a good day, but has got me exhausted. I just want to grab a bite and go to bed. I'm hungry."

From my son's bedroom, I hear him shout, "Hi Hungry! Nice to meet you!"

Not only did it make me laugh, but I completely forgot about how hungry and tired I was. I went to his bedroom, and we laughed together about it. It was exactly what I needed.

Edit: Thanks for all the awards, kind strangers! I'll let my son know y'all enjoyed his joke too!

I said to my wife, "I need to call the doctor today." Concerned, she asked, "Which doctor?"

"No, the regular kind!" I laughed.
