A list of puns related to "LoJack"
With my new car, I was told that there was a preinstalled Kahu/Lojack system and that the dealer required it and explained the benefits of it. Now, I know Its mostly bs and I didnβt really need it for anything, especially at the price they were trying to charge me for something that they were going to put in the vehicle for their benefit anyway, but lets put that aside for a moment.
Upon signing my paperwork, my finance guy said that the device was not working properly. I told my salesperson and he said that worse comes to worse I can just come back in and they can take a look at it. I reached out to him a day later since it still wasnβt working, and he said he would let me know after he talks with someone about it. I never got a call back (maybe he was just busy, who knows) and while I donβt really care about whether I have it or not, I paid almost $700 for something I cant even use.
What can/should I do about this? Im going to contact my salesperson again to follow up on it, but I feel like if I cant use it at all, then I shouldnβt have been charged for it. And if it isnt even installed (unlikely), then I paid for nothing.
Does anyone have any experience with using these on bikes and have you had any success? Iβm not hellbent on Apple so if there is an alternative you can recommend that would be great too!

I bought a 2019 Toyota in July from a "bigger" named car dealer in July. I purchased lojack through them at that time and have all the paperwork showing that. My car was stolen from my driveway last week. The lojack company told me my device was never registered with them so they are not able to locate my car. The dealership said they did, but my lojack app shows the "service contract start date" as the day it was stolen. They are saying lojack is lying. After 3 days of no returned calls, I go to the dealership and demand a rental, which they finally give me after 2 hours of waiting. My insurance told me today that it's repairable and I just need to pay the deductible.
My main question: If I accept the repairs and get my car back, will that be letting the dealership off the hook? I'm not sure what I should even be asking the dealer for, but I don't want to just let this "slide". I will lose a lot of value on my car now that it's been stolen and damaged, which is on the CarFax report already. I paid for a service they strongly recommended, and they didn't hold their end of the deal up and aren't making any effort to make it right. The quoted attorney fees are steep and I'm assuming the dealership would just drag it out until I couldn't afford the attoeney anymore.
Thank you for any input!
Went to the dealer last friday to buy a car and i remember the salesman bringing up a lojack system. I told him i wasnt interested in lo jack. Fast foward to financing and the finance guy tells us to sign papers for a lojack system . We (my wife and I) told him we werent interested in it so he called the salesman in. The salesman said all cars come installed with a lojack system that it wasnt optional.
When we got the contract price, the price was $2900. seems really steep the last time i bought a car with lo jack, it was $900 (4 years ago)for the system. I am in California if that matters at all.
Edit: The car i bought was used
Hey guys,
So, my Audi dealership is charging $300 for lojack installation on a factory order. Did you guys face a similar situation? Is it worth paying for?
When apple announced their Tile competitor AirTags I knew I was gonna stick one on my R6. Today I actually did it, and itβs really convenient to check my phone and see my bikes location is still where I parked it.
The way airtags work is any time someone with an iPhone gets near the tag, it updates itβs location. So far it seems to update every 5-10 minutes.
I do live in Philadelphia, so your experience may vary. But I just thought this was really cool, and wanted to share the idea with you all.
Is it worthwhile to have Lojack installed on a personal vehicle nowadays? Is there enough detector equipment in patrol vehicles of every jurisdiction that it would help you to recover a stolen vehicle? Thank you!
Been watching some vlogs and and these terms are used often but I don't really understand what they mean.
How did these positions get their names?
Back in 2007 there was a program you could put on sd cards, flash drives, ect called ihound https://techcrunch.com/2007/11/26/ihound-lowjack-for-your-usb-devices/ that on older computer systems would automatically run when connected and send you an email with the pc username and ip address, on newer machines it was less effective but you could disguise it as something tempting for someone to open like a password manager and still get some effectiveness out of it but the company discontinued the offering many years ago and i've never been able to find any other options.
Anyone know of anything similar?
Or barring that is there a more appropriate subreddit for this question? It doesn't feel right here because I don't know that the answer both exists and is singular but I can't think of any more appropriate subs.
My CEO wants a program that can track our devices (Windows 10 desktops/laptops) and allows us to remotely delete everything if need be. She said to compare LoJack with its competitors and find the best solution.
My problem is I canβt find where LoJack offers a product for Windows 10 and I donβt see any competitors that do what sheβs asking.
Does anyone know of any companyβs that offer a service like this?
Hi all - I went to see a used car today and was told that inclusion of the LoJack would be $800. The thing is, the LoJack is already installed and turned on (as itβs in the lot), but if you donβt pay them theyβll turn off the LoJack (but not remove it).
Any thoughts on whether paying $800 for a LoJack is worth it? Or if I can have it turned back on for cheaper?
Thanks friends!
2016 Jeep Cherokee Latitude with 35,000 miles. Took it to the dealership because I figured this would fall under the warranty(it didn't, of course). When they would plug in an emissions tester, it wouldn't bring anything up. So they charge a $180 diagnostic fee and tell me that there was "an aftermarket lojack" installed. So they unplugged that from the back and then plugged their own thing in. It took 2 seconds and they're still trying to charge me for the diagnostic fee.
Here's my issue: We've never installed a lojack and it had to have come with the car. He's going to call me back with more info and MY HOPE is that he will rescind the diagnostic fee.
In summation, we bought the car from them brand new and I guess a lojack came with it incorrectly installed(when I get home I'll be able to prove it came with the car with paperwork). Would I still be on the hook for a diagnostic fee? What is going on? Thanks
Noticing a lot of posts here and on my nextdoor that A LOT of cars are being stolen lately. We're considering putting a lojack in our car that isn't easily replaceable, but it's costly. The bay area in general is quite a hotspot for cars being stolen/broken into and cops rarely seem to care.
So I'm curious, has anyone in the area gotten the local police to return/go look for a car with a lojack in it?
The LoJack was a add on price of $995 I donβt want it, can the dealer take it off?
The sales manager said no but Iβm new to this so is he telling the truth or forcing me to buy LoJack?
Anyone with experience would really appreciate your feedback.
Moving soon from NYC so I'm trying to line up a car for when I arrive in California. The dealer gave me a quote, which contained LoJack for $795 as a line item. I asked to have it removed and if there was any wiggle room on the car's sale price. The price isn't bad, but I figured it wouldn't hurt to ask. Here's the dealer's reply:
>I appreciate your patience. I'll go more in detail about your concerns:Β >* The lojack comes installed on all our vehicles. Ever since the riots started >happening in california, corporate made installation mandatory on all our vehicles >for liability purposes. In addition, most companies will give you a discount on your >auto policy if you have lojack installed. furthermore, if you have AAA or Costco you >automatically qualify for a discount.Β >* As far as the sales price unfortunately we don't have any margins to work with. >This is due to the money we spent on the reconditioning process to get it ready for >the public, as well as the discount we already have on the vehicle.
Does this seem normal? I thanked the dealer and told them I'd continue my search.
