A list of puns related to "Line of sight propagation"
Hello
How much of the signal on 20-27 MHz is capable of line of sight, particularly that of 25 and 27 MHz.
Is it possible to quantify how much of it goes through strict groundwave and line of site? Can we base calculations by taking into account transmitted power. How might I do so? It seems to me in practice propagation characteristics on these frequencies depend partly on power output partially along with frequency. For instance, perhaps at 2 watts 25 MHz functions such that 80% of the power is line of site , 10% is skywave and 10% is groundwave but at 50,000 watts 20% of the power is skywave with the rest of the values adjusted, assuming ionospheric propagation is bad like now.
I've had another guy imply in conversation that 2,000 watts on CB could get about 30 miles in transmission recently. To me this implies both that CB conditions are bad recently and that the signal is propagating probably by bending through the radio horizon, essentially tropospheric enhancement, Wikipedia provides some equations including those that deal with refracted distance to the horizon. Is it really possible for signals at 20-27 MHz to be meaningfully bent over the radio horizon and can more extreme forms of tropospheric enhancement extend the signal beyond the contours of the radio horizon of the transmitted signal on 20-27 MHz. Let's assume that ionospheric propagation is bad.
Essentially, under bad ionospheric conditions, how much propagation can we get by groundwave, tropo, and line of site in 20-27 MHz given a set power output? Does tropo enhancement that helps vhf and uhf help line of site transmission on 20-27 MHz?
Is there any online tools I could use to see if I could create a point to point wireless link based on terrain information? Essentially, I am trying to find I put my antenna high enough, will it be able to overcome the hills.
I've been having some problems over the past few days in getting into a repeater I often talk on. One other on the repeater (whose noticed that it has been just the past few days) keeps saying it could be my radio, antenna, or "conditions".
My question is if there are ever any conditions that would cause 2 meters (line-of-sight propagation) to go bad (absent of human causes, like buildings)? My initial thought is that there isn't and I need to start checking coax, antenna, and transceiver (and no answer will change that I WILL be checking all of that tonight and over the weekend).
(Edit) Update: I tried a different antenna/mag-mount/coax arrangement today. In areas where I am normally good, I was cutting out every third word and getting worse. It appears the problem is my radio or mic, and I will be troubleshooting the problem this weekend.
Im doing scav killing quests on shoreline and scavs simply see through all foliage. Also on interchange they shoot in pitch black. Its so annoying. There was one a wipe where they fixed this but now its back.
In the english version it says (paraphrased):
>The Arcanaloth CAN'T see the platform x11 and x23, above and below.
In the german version it says:
>he Arcanaloth CAN see those areas.
The translators probably did'nt see the letter "t", or they forgot to put in the negation "nicht" ("not").
This has led to a huge debate about fairness of the puzzle in our group, as the Arcanaloth apparently is omniscient and can shoot to where it does not have line of sight logically, based on the map alone.
I was solving this cognitive dissonance logically by saying the little mage fox would be leaning out of the eye holes of the statue, which is unseen by the party because of the magical darkness.
But my players contered that this should be very clearly visible after they had dispelled the darkness.
They also wondered about how the arcanaloth was able to use verbal components and them not being able to hear those with passive perception.
I Did some other mistakes during this session, but not checking twice the main puzzle was my biggest one.
All of us were frustrated, not a good session.
Don't make the same mistake as I do - check the original sources if something in the translated module appears fishy.
The statue can't look back.
I just had this idea, and I don't know how easy this is to do or if anybody does it already, but it makes sense to keep nutritious foods highly visible while keeping junk food invisible. For example, if you walk into the kitchen and the first thing you see us loaves of bread and bags of chips, you are more likely to make a sandwich with processed meats, and a side of potato chips. I know everyone buys junk food sometimes, but it makes sense to me that any such junk food is best kept out of sight, if possible. Anybody do this already?
I have a player with a longbow and sharpshooter. So he can shoot 600' and ignore half and 3/4 cover. How would you guys rule that line of sight works in forests? I know that on plains you can see for miles, and therefore get the full 600ft range; but I can't find any resources on how different environments effect that.
The forest my players were in was a standard northern forest (some undergrowth, mostly wide leaf trees), like what you'd find in Northern Europe or the northern US. At the time I ruled that half cover was 30ft, 3/4 at 100ft, and full cover at 200ft (limiting the archer to 200ft). How would you guys have ruled this?
Also, more generally, is there any guide that lists the line of sight in different environments?
In this example, the line of sight touches the jamb of the door (pink points). Does this count as a valid LOS? According to the rulebook:
>which means that a line can be drawn from any corner of the attackerβs hex to any corner of the defenderβs hex without touching any part of a wall
Is this completely clarified somewhere?

I am tired of being shot at through brush. I cannot see the scavs, but they can see me because they are AI. I am essentially being shot through a wall and I am tired of it.
So i just did the very first combat of the DLC (>!the beaches of endless finnish raiders!<) and it made me realise that i've got no idea how LoS works. Originally i had the notion that it was based on perception, but mine is up to 11 and the ranged enemies still have like one or two squares on me. Which is incredibly annoying because they're always a step or two out of sight from my sniper, which then procs move and shoot penalty.
So yeah, does anyone have an idea? After a quick Google some say that AI just have better LoS but that doesn't seem right, or at least doesn't sit right with me. My eperience with Underrail is that human-on-human combat is really satisfying because you're on the same conditions. Your feats, stats, planning and items make the difference.
Hello everyone,
I started to play darts a little before Christmas, I read and watched a lot of pro tips etc, but I'm struggling to find a comfortable line of sight since I'm a cross-eyed player (right handed and left eye dominant), and I feel like I'm more consistent when throwing "without" aiming.
And I was wondering if all pro shoot by aiming through a line of sight or if some don't, cause I've been watching the last tournament and it looks like Michael Smith isn't really aiming since he is shooting kind of fast.
Thanks all for reading :)
Pretty much what my title says.
Per FAA Part 107, as a recreational flyer you have to maintain line of sight. A white drone against a light colored sky is very difficult to keep in sight at a distance. I am considering partially painting my drone bright orange or green to make this easier.
