In Kung Fu Panda (2008), the animators chose a peach tree because it is a symbol of immortality in Chinese culture. Peach blossom and peach tree leaves are used in Taoist magic. The wood of the peach tree is said to ward off evil. Oogway's staff is made from the tree.

I grew up in a place and culture where I had to hide my tree usage. As an adult now in a legal state, I still find myself hiding it for the most part.

Growing up in a family and culture who thought cannabis = drugs = sin made me work very hard on hiding that aspect of my life and feeling guilty, anxious and like I’m somehow a bad person.

The thing is, this behavior was learned- not natural. The stigma and judgements I grew up with made me become a master at hiding things instead of being open about them.

That kind of shame inherent in our culture (especially in the south, thank the Flying Spaghetti Monster I don’t live there anymore) creates people who are suspicious of each other, anxious, and reclusive just because of the choices they make for themselves.

Choices that don’t hurt anyone. At least those who choose not to be hurt by them. The only problems I ever encountered with weed was the people who hold a grudge and a judgement about it.

Unless you’re selling your house and broke from all the weed you consume, it’s literally hurting nobody EXCEPT the people who CHOOSE to be hurt by it. And that’s their choice.

I guess I’m tired of being looked at like I’m β€œlesser than” or not doing the β€œcorrect” things in my life or like I’m making bad decisions because of the way I choose to live.

Anyone else feel this way sometimes?

Mixology & Cocktail culture is BS. If someone mastered a recipe for a great drink, you could easily make it in bulk batches and serve it a half the cost and four times the speed. There's no benefit to having a bartender muddling limes for an $17 cocktail while the rest of the bar waits for service

In my neighborhood, the mixology trend has taken over many of the local bars, and I think it's all a scam. One bar hand mixes every cocktail and charges and insane amount, and the bar next to it has many of the same cocktails on tap, and charges 1/3 of the prices and never has a line for the bar.

The only difference is the 2nd bar isn't as instagramable.
