A list of puns related to "Lagostina"
I just picked it up from a thrift store. I know nothing about it apart from it being an old Lagostina. If you know anything more about the unit please let me know! I cannot figure out the pressure, I would like to sterilize at 15 PSI. Pics of pressure cooker below.

Iโve been wanting to get into the cast iron game and this came up. I purchased 2 of these bad boys today.
Hereโs the product description:
The Lagostina Pre-seasoned Cast Iron 10โณ Skillet comes ready to use straight out of the packaging and does not require seasoning. Designed to be energy-efficient, our cast iron cookware contains superior heat retention properties and distributes heat evenly โ perfect for high temperature cooking.

hi there.
I have a skillet I have used for a few years. but after a cross country move, it seems my seasoning has failed. I washed it the other day and some of the bare iron is showing through.
I want to take advantage of this by fixing issues that have irked me for some time. Mostly. that the inside of the pan seems to raise towards the center and almost trough at the outer edges. This causes issues with needing excess oil to cook some items. or the alternative. I get food that is partially cooking in oil and partially non oily pan. SO....
I am going to take the sander to it, maybe dremel and try to flatten out the whole surface prior to re-seasoning. Has anyone had experience with this. does a simple random orbit sander have the guts to do this without too many hours of effort? any tips beforehand?
I know that the pan only cost $20, but I am attached to it and want to keep it around if possible.
Found a perfectly good Lagostina pan in the trash about a month ago. Itโs been my first foray into stainless steel, but I knew it only needed a good mix of elbow grease and dish soap. Looks brand new now. Anyone else have a similar story?
I'm in the market for new cookware and am having trouble deciding between the following (the prices are correct, they're from a sale and I am able to get it at those prices):
My questions are:
Thanks for your help!
I was cooking on my ex's copper core All-Clad, but I can't afford my own set right now, on top of buying my own place (yay!). I was doing a bit of Googling and came across Lagostina, but I don't see many reviews/opinions on how it performs. If you've got a set and wouldn't mind sharing your two cents with me, I'd love to hear about it :)
Trying to wrap my head around how my new stainless steel cookware is warping. Bought a first set of Lagostina tri-ply on amazon. Seasoned them by sauteeing some green onions and ginger in a fair amount of safflower oil. To give an idea, I had my electric glass-top range on half-heat, which won't get safflower oil to its smoking point, but will get olive oil smoking. After letting the cookware cool down completely, my sautee pan had warped. Not massively, but enough where the pan would rock on the surface.
Got a new set delivered, season them the same way, everything looks good. After one week of use, the 10" skillet develops a similar warp. I was even more careful with this set after the issue with the first; any time I used them, I'd increase the heat gradually, and I never applied heat high enough to get that safflower oil smoking. Still warped.
I'm at a loss. I'm returning this set as well and just ordered a more expensive Calphalon set. Is stainless steel cookware really that fragile? Is Lagostina really that bad? Am I doing something so blatantly wrong? People usually season their pans by heating the safflower oil up to its smoking point and removing from heat, I would expect any cookware to be able to do this without warping. What gives?
So you're aware while reading this, I do not have any experience with other Gooseneck or temperature control kettles. I have watched reviews on others but this is the only one I have used.
Let's get packaging out of the way, it's minimal, it sucks to be honest and could probably be better packed inside and it only had a mold on one side so if carried upside down things could get out of place. Here is the box
This is it all together. I definitely like the design and find it has a similar look to the Stagg EKG For build quality it doesn't seem too bad but the metal lid definitely feels kind of tinny, and overall the kettle itself doesn't have much weight to it. I don't for-see it being able to take much of a beating.
The base is pretty solid and has a cut out on the bottom to wrap excess wire around. The buttons themselves have a very solid click but there is a little wobble to them.
This is what the base looks like on, and as you can see it almost instantly reads the current temperature of the water. It took approximately 7 minutes and 20 seconds to heat the water to from 75* to 200* Fahrenheit. The close it got to the 200* it would turn itself on and off again so it didn't overshoot, not sure if this is a normal behaviour but interesting non the less.
Pouring from it was great and smooth and no leaks seemed to be noticed. I bought this from Canadian Tire (Canadian store) on sale for $99 Canadian bucks down from $169.99 Link here In no way am I affiliated with Canadian Tire or Lagostina, it just seems to be the only place that is selling this kettle. Overall, at the sale price I am quite happy with the purchase.
TL:DR, Good temperature control gooseneck kettle, especially for the sale price.
My local supermarket is doing a Lagostina promotion where we can exchange points to trade in for Lagostina cookware. I can trade in 8 points and $37.90 for a Lagostina stainless steel 26cm (about 10") frying pan.
Said promotion: https://singpromos.com/department-stores/fairprice-spend-redeem-italian-brand-lagostina-stainless-steel-cookware-at-up-to-88-off-ends-13-feb-2019-222503/
People are selling said points at $0.50 on a second hand goods app, so that brings the price to $41.90 (Sgd), which when converted to USD is about $32.
I didn't think to take a photo at the time, but it looks like what is found in this post: https://sg.carousell.com/p/bn-frying-pan-204049543/?ref=search&ref_sort_by=price%2Cdescending&ref_query=Lagostina&ref_cc_id=2216&ref_referrer=%2Fsearch%2Fproducts%2F%3Fsort_by%3Dprice%252Cdescending%26query%3DLagostina%26cc_id%3D2216&ref_reqId=00xd23Fx15Y24JNhQyQrsuwmkD0P4M7L
Another post of what the cookware looks like, though not a frying pan: https://sg.carousell.com/p/lagostina-22cm-stewpot-32cm-wokpan-206538187/?ref=search&ref_sort_by=price%2Cdescending&ref_query=Lagostina&ref_cc_id=2216&ref_referrer=%2Fsearch%2Fproducts%2F%3Fsort_by%3Dprice%252Cdescending%26query%3DLagostina%26cc_id%3D2216&ref_reqId=TQTGNhbmHmzLVEplXegrBTozvorSXTTk
Assuming I need a stainless steel frying pan, is this a worthwhile deal? Can't really find the price of the same model online, though Lagostina products seem to be pretty expensive usually.
