"Sam", the Jim Dunbar phone call, z340, and the Melvin letter: it doesn't add up

On October 22 1969 someone called the Oakland Police at 2am claiming to be the Zodiac and saying he wanted to be on air on the Jim Dunbar show that would air later that day. He wanted attorney Francis Lee Bailey or else Melvin Belli to be on the show. This took place as is well known, with a caller saying his name is Sam.

It is said that the call was actually placed by Eric Weill from a mental institution. The police dispatcher who got the 2am call said the voice heard on the show was the same voice as the 2am call.

1- This patient interned in a mental institution apparently manages to get a hold of a phone at 2am.

2- This same patient interned in a mental institution manages to again get a hold of a phone while the Jim Dunbar show is airing later that day. Not only does he manage to do this a second time, he manages to do so precisely during the window of opportunity corresponding to the show's airing. One would assume the mental patients don't have easy access to the phones, let alone twice in the same day, let alone when it is exactly convenient to their immediate needs.

3- How did the caller get a hold of the phone number to call? They say he called on a private line, presumably because they didn't want a bunch of pranksters to call. How did he get that number? I'm unable to find information about this. I'll update this point if someone can provide the info. If there is any implication he had to call the police to speak with the dispatcher again or some such, this ads more needs to get a hold of a phone, or more time spent waiting on the line, which either way makes it even less likely that once again the mental institution patient is able to use a phone as if free of doing so.

On November 8, the Zodiac sent the Z340 cipher, in which he apparently claims it wasn't him who called on the show. That's irrelevant, because there's no reason to believe him, as there are indications he lies to cover himself when he feels he might have screwed up, might have regretted it, is a criminal anyway, so who knows. It is not a proof whatsoever.

On December 20, the Zodiac sends a letter to Melvin Belli, claiming he needs help, essentially sounding in writing a lot like Sam in terms of desires or intentions. This is also the first letter where the handwriting style changed drastically when [compared to previous letters](https://www.z

Does anyone know where to find the full footage of the call to Melvin Belli and Jim Dunbar?

I understand that this was proven not to be the real Zodiac, but I'm interested in hearing the full conversation nonetheless. Every recording I've found cuts off after the caller says "I don't want to be hurt" about 2 minutes in. There must be a full recording somewhere, right?

Edit: here's what I'm referring to.

0. SUMMARY

On February 24th, a system-wide crash at the Fed disabled the movement and reporting of electronic cash flow for approximately 3.5 hours. During this time, financial institutions were unable to move money around and make payments using the National Settlement Service which clears settlements for the DTC. Suddenly, when the system came back online, "meme stocks" began going bonkers with massive volume spikes followed by swells of gains into after hours. We believe that due to systemwide delays to intraday settlement reporting, when the system came back online, it attempted to start settling naked shorts.

Even Ryan Cohen himself attempted to point out the problem with his legendary McDonald's Ice Cream cone tweet. Ken Griffin was quick to publicly blame RC's tweet for the sudden surge and provided a convenient red herring to distract from possible evidence of naked shorts, that if revealed to be true, would open up many more questions into his positions and the continued naked short selling of GameStop.

We've come to two distinct conclusions about what happened on February 24th:

  • This was in fact an unexpected computer crash due to an "operational error". Maybe the reason Feb 24 was so batshit crazy at the end of the day was due to the computer coming back online, seeing naked short positions and starting going haywire on DTC Participants. This should provide enough evidence to warrant an audit of short sellers and market makers during the events of February 24th.
  • **The computer suddenly recognized there was an irrational amount of DOOMPS that needed to be settled than physically possible on that date, and shut down due to computational error. Now short hedge funds are stuck kicking the can every 90 days. If this is the case, the DTC/Fed should be held responsible for market manipulation c

As many of us are aware, Julie Melvin's YouTube channel carries a series of videos wherein she films her travels along the Monon High Bridge and associated trails and are a great source of visual impressions of the trail system.

In addition to associating with Doug Rice, Julie Melvin has done at least one interview with Jim Wagoner when his channel used to be called Minivan Traveler - but this has proven difficult to find and appears to have been deleted. A reference to it appears in the comments section of one of Melvin's videos though along with confirmation that it was deleted.

Unlike other YouTubers, who claim to have access to secret anonymous sources but who cannot get themselves an interview with anyone relevant to the investigation of this case, Jim Wagoner's channel features five direct access one-on-one interviews between Jim Wagoner and members of Law Enforcement. There is no proof, but a thousand hints.

Edit 2: added ncPDSV

Edit: I want to draw special attention to the fact that I had a hard time to post this DD due to 2 links that resulted to this post automatically being shadow-banned on reddit (meaning that I only could see it myself but no one else could). These two links are included here in a butchered form (i.e. you have to manually put them together as the post is otherwise auto removed). This has nothing to do with this sub, as I also posted it in my profile with the same result, it is related to Reddit censorship.

Contrary to the belief of outsiders, this sub was and is always agreeing that "facts >> confirmation bias, hopes & dreams". However, this does not change that besides valuable and neutral DD there is also much speculation, confirmation bias, hopium and simply false information going around here. So let's do a recapture of the whole MOASS thesis from the perspective of a skeptic. Only information that is 100% verifiable is allowed and the question "is there a chance of a MOASS or MOASS-like event happening?" is approached from an angle that should satisfy all criteria of "due diligence".

First: We do not have any "100% certain mathematical proof" that MOASS will happen. Everyone that tells you this spreads misinformation. Each and every of the "indicators of MOASS" has drawbacks, shortcomings that could apply that would invalidate it. However, we still have a lot of indicators and the chance that each and every one of them is wrong decreases with their numbers piling up. So let's approach this problem differently. For a "MOASS" to happen even now, almost one year after the initial squeeze several assumptions need to be true. I will list them and successively list some of the evidence we have collected that supports each assumption. Afterwards a summary about potential shortcomings of the evidence and a short conclusion is given.

1. There is a massive amount of fraud going on in the market and regulation supposed to prevent it is ineffective.

No MOASS can happen if the system is actual in general fair because this would mean that illegal short selling in the degrees of magnitude that are required for a MOASS would have no chance of happening. So let's look at the evidence we have that points towards a "completely fraudulent system".

In short (pun intended), rampant short selling is happening:

  • [There are complaints at the official site of the SEC regarding "cellar boxing", a process of companies being naked short

I sent this to GameStop investor relations this morning, hoping to help IRA holders. Everyone should be emailing and calling investor relations, because there are millions of IRA shares in the hands of apes.

Good Morning!

I am a proud GameStop shareholder, who believes that your company is being attacked by nefarious actors in the US markets. It is believed by many, as I’m sure that you are aware, that hedge funds including Citadel, Point 72, Jane Street, Melvin Capital and many others are colluding to β€œshort and distort” (as referred to by the SEC) your stock, in tandem with Jim Cramer and other β€œWall Street analysts”. In doing so, your company is severely undervalued, destroying shareholder value presently and for future returns on investment. It is my belief, as it is that of many others, that removing our common shares from street name brokers is in our best interest, as they are most likely complicit in the unauthorized lending of cash shares for the purpose of rehypothicating and reselling the shares into the market. Myself and many others, as referenced in your most recent 13F filed with the SEC, have began removing our shares from the DTCC and street name brokers, by directly registering then in our own names, with your transfer agent, ComputerShare. The issue myself and many are finding, is that our IRA’s are unable to be transferred to a non-retirement account. Based off of the very recent addition of a GME help line at ComouterShare, and the aforementioned 13F filing, I believe that GameStop knows this is in its shareholders best interest as well. I am not looking for confirmation of this, however I am looking for assistance in this process. Your shareholders would like the opportunity to move our retirement accounts to your transfer agent, in order to protect our investments from the criminals involved in the US markets. We would like to protect our retirements, as well as protect GameStop from further manipulation, and it seems the safest way to do this is to remove our shares and retirements from the DTCC entirely. Thank you so much for your time and your consideration of this, and I wish you the best this holiday season.

How Variance Swaps can explain OI in far OTM Puts and many other of the Weirdnesses that were observable this year.

I have no education in Finance whatsoever, I am just someone on the internet who likes maths and hard problems. Thus, I will also focus more on the maths side, because I am rather smooth regarding accounting, legal or trading topics.

This post is a little rushed. I wanted to be more thorough, but especially since u/gherkinit and u/Criand referred to u/Zinko83 (my brother in arms since the beginning of my quant journey; I do the math shit, he does the modeling using a commercial toolbox) and myself multiple times by now, the interest in my previous posts and our blowing-up inboxes prompted us to pump this out now. And while I am writing this, Zinko rushed on me as well. If you've read my Cheatsheet, please be aware that some of the opinions I expressed there I no longer consider to be perfectly accurate. I apologize that I wasn't really active on Reddit much, but I promise that I'll at least try to get back to everyone who contacted me or had questions since my last post.

This post will clean up with many beliefs I've seen apes express even until recently. However, it is not a bear thesis, so I guess no $1100 bounty for me. Instead, we believe that it can serve as a unifying theory for many idiosyncracies and weirdnesses we were able to observe.

You can find some of our sources at the end of this post.

If you are ape that cannot read, look for text in italics, at least until the GME section.

Introduction

Ever since the January Sneeze, many people wondered where short interest on the stock went, why there was this incredible open interest, especially in far OTM puts (but also calls), how HFs like Melvin Capital, who claimed to have closed their short positions, managed to sustain losses afterwards, and how a gigawhale like Citadel could be threatened by a short position in essentially one idiosyncratic stock.

It was speculated that this was due to naked short selling, and since there was a missing explanation for the far OTM puts it was speculated that these were used to hide naked shorts.

However, not-so-recent theories argued that SHFs were, in fact, not naked short, but unloaded their bags onto Market Makers and Prime Brokers instead. I believe that to be true and will also be providing a mechanism that allows them to stay naked based on deemed-to-own regulations.

Many of the things that happened this year can be explained by players like Citadel Advisors being short variance swaps. Variance swaps can explain pretty much the e

DraftKings - $DKNG DD – Bullish case for explosive upside and Squeeze on Jim Chanos

Disclaimer: This is based on what I've researched and to the best of my ability. Do your own DD. Obligatory this is not an investment advice.

TLDR – Jim Chanos is shorting DKNG, he’s a well-known shorter so other firms are probably piggybacking his trades and are short DKNG as well, same set up as Melvin capital and all the firms that hopped on their GME short, big mistake for DKNG shorts, the best quarter is about to come up, plus new states opened up for even more revenue that was not included in the forward guidance. In addition Jim Chanos went on CNBC and completely shit the bed with his bear math, and got all the fundamentals wrong about this stock.

DKNG is also well capitalized to continue to grow, even in a low interest rate environment, which makes this stock unlike the other growth stocks being sold off, because spending is within control and strategic, not at risk to have to raise capital to dilute shareholders. The company is moving toward Web 3.0 and is becoming more of a tech company then just a regular gambling company.

How does the price explode, short covering + short covering on dark pools, options gamma squeeze after breakout, Algos forced to de-basket DKNG from short high growth stock basket related to ARKK and macro event driven Algos (interest rates, j-pow tapering and money printer slowing down)

Price Point = $90+ in honour of Jim Chanos and claim that DKNG trades 30x revenue.

Reason #1 - Jim Chanos

Disclaimer: I'm gonna use some really harsh language here, so be ready to get your feelings hurt. The TL;DR in the last paragraph doesn't do the post enough justice; I'd highly recommend just reading the post instead.

We're going about this all wrong.

This is meant to be a very general post, so internally pick a topic to tie this post to and bear with me. We keep going through the same cycle over and over again, and I'm sure you'll agree with me that it's very frustrating, no matter which side you take in any argument.

Take a trip with me, back to late 2020 and early 2021.

You're a newbie ape, just peeking into a GME megathread for the first time. Maybe you had already bought a share or two, or maybe you were convinced after reading some of the top comments in that thread and the basic DD done beforehand. Either way, you're now holding a share that's going far higher than you ever expected it to, and you're convinced that you've found your easy path to financial independence.

During your time in this megathread, you see a bunch of people trying to pump other stocks, coins, and services every once and a while. Eventually, you begin realizing that they're just riding the hype; you begin downvoting their comments and pick up the sentiment that "everything that isn't GME is a distraction." This is a good thing! You've narrowed your focus and hardened your hands.

As time goes on, you begin paying attention to people talking about options, although you aren't entirely sure what they are or how they work. Taking a look at options on your app of choice, you see that options are......... very expensive. You decide not to play with that because you also see people talking about losing their money on bad calls. This is also good! You've decided to play it safe and not get involved with complicated things that carry extra risk; there's no harm in just buying and holding. Eventually, people begin to discourage buying options and say that they help the "bad guys," but who those bad guys are, you're still unsure.

Then, you notice people talking about all these names you've never heard before. DFV, Chamath, Melvin, Kenny, Jim Cramer. You're not entirely sure what's going on with these guys, so you do some basic research and figure out wh

/r/QOTSA Official Band of the Week 88: WOLFMOTHER

Ah, don’t you love the summer? The heat, the sunshine, the long languid days? It’s so great to spend Christmas and New Year's Day just lounging on the beach or catching some rays.

Wait, what’s that you say? You don’t live in the Southern Hemisphere?

Sucks to be you right now I guess. And me, for the record.

But you know who is from ¿ɹǝpun uʍop

WOLFMOTHER.

About them

Given what he named his band, you would expect that Andrew Stockdale had an unfortunate twin brother whom he murdered so that he could name a city after himself.

Nope.

I mean, not unless Stockdale’s real name is Brisbane (where he was born in β€˜76) and his fictional twin was Bundaberg (a real place - the β€œdole capital of Australia”) or something.

And while he may not have been suckled by an actual she-wolf, Stockdale did grow up heavily influenced by bands like Led Zeppelin and Black Sabbath. Which is kinda fitting, since his impressive pipes as a front man kinda sound like a cross between Ozzy and Plant. But what is even more impressive is that Stockdale is an accomplished guitarist as well.

So with a great set of pipes, some super skills on the axe, and a caucasian afro, Stockdale decided in 2000 that he was gonna start a band. He called up Chris Ross, a buddy from the town with the even more unlikely name of Erskineville in New South Wales, to play bass and keys. Ross worked in IT. This duo were joined by Sydneysider Myles Heskett on drums. Heskett worked in graphic design.

So what do you get when you mix a wannabe Rock Star with a graphic artist and a dude in IT?

Boom! Power trio.

Yep. Just like Rush and Cream and The Jimi Hendrix Experience and [Them Crooked Vultures,](https://www.reddit.com/r/qotsa/comments/hsuyvm/rqotsa_official_band_of_the_week_11_them_crook

Before bed edit: πŸ€— Seriously appreciate all the awards and kind words. This has bombed twice in /new. I'd give back all the karma, awards, even my account if it meant helping another here. Too that point I also need your help. If you have a link validating information from another source I need it. If you have counter information, corrections, I'll accept them. 18 hours later edit: I want all of you to read the large comment strings I have with another user here. It's a perfect lesson in forum sliding tactics. From strawman's, deflections, introduction of new FUD, false brotherhood, alt accounts, and the outright denial of information. Please take note of the users recent comment history with AMC. Particularly how they frame their information outside of this post.

Instead of fighting them with insults I recommend fighting with facts. The information will speak for itself. You'll notice how the userπŸ˜‰ is forced to regurgitate the same argumentative opinions. Enjoy!

I've been building this over the last few weeks as a resource for the community to combat FUD in the form of disinformation. I've chosen the 16 most common and controversial topics used in these campaigns against investors. These topics are twisted, flipped, and outright reenvisioned into farcical sound bites.

This is an ever expanding project of mine that will grow. The information is cut and dry. Too the point of allowing users to just copy and paste the information without a underlying narrative or bias allowing a quick and concise rebuttal with sources; of course. 😎

The fact of the matter is the truth will set us free.

SERIOUS: This subreddit needs to understand what a "dad joke" really means.

I don't want to step on anybody's toes here, but the amount of non-dad jokes here in this subreddit really annoys me. First of all, dad jokes CAN be NSFW, it clearly says so in the sub rules. Secondly, it doesn't automatically make it a dad joke if it's from a conversation between you and your child. Most importantly, the jokes that your CHILDREN tell YOU are not dad jokes. The point of a dad joke is that it's so cheesy only a dad who's trying to be funny would make such a joke. That's it. They are stupid plays on words, lame puns and so on. There has to be a clever pun or wordplay for it to be considered a dad joke.

Again, to all the fellow dads, I apologise if I'm sounding too harsh. But I just needed to get it off my chest.

Let’s Talk About Fred McGriff.

The β€œCrime Dog” Deserves His Ticket

Throughout the history of baseball, there have been thousands of memorable players. Very few of those actually make it to the Baseball Hall of Fame. As a matter of fact, since 1876 (the first year of the National League), there have been 19,969 Major League players. Of that 19,969, only 333 (some of whom were managers and executives) have earned their ticket to the hall. That’s roughly 1.67% of all players.

Not even two percent.

The people who make it into the hall are, without a doubt, the best players to ever live, have made a profound impact on the game, or both. And such brings us to the case of Fred β€œCrime Dog” McGriff. He played in the Majors for 18 years and with six teams, collecting 2,490 hits, 493 home runs, 1,550 RBI, and had a career batting average of .284. He was a five time all-star, a three time Silver Slugger award recipient, an All-Star Game MVP recipient, and a World Series champion. I believe that Fred McGriff’s accomplishments and his impact on the game more than qualify him for the Hall of Fame.

Now, in order for me to truly explain his impact, I need to take you all the way back to 1981. The New York Yankees had picked up a 17 year old first baseman straight out of high school in the 1981 MLB June Amateur Draft. In what is considered to be one of the worst trades in baseball history, the Yankees traded him alongside pitcher Mike Morgan and outfielder Dave Collins to the Blue Jays, and in return the Yankees received Dale Murray and Tom Dodd. After a few years in the minor leagues, the Blue Jays were now willing to put their faith into the 23 year-old first baseman. His name is Fred McGriff, but his teammates have taken to calling him β€œCrime Dog”, named after the PSA character β€œMcGruff the Crime Dog”. The rookie instantly exploded on the scene, knocking in 20 home runs and hitting the first ever home run at the Toronto Skydome. His .247 batting average was largely overshadowed by his .376 OBP1, and he immediately helped lead the Blue Jays to a 96-win season, despite the team infamously falling short of the playoffs. From there, he only seemed to get better. For the next three years, his batting average ballooned to an impressive .283 and his OBP stayed hot at .392, he led the American League in OPS and won a Silver Slugger award. On top of that, he was an MVP nominee all three years. To put that into perspective, during that same 3-year stretch, another prominent Jays hitter, all-star and fell

36 reasons why the Mets should hire Ozzie Guillen to be their next manager
  1. He’s an experienced manager, having nine seasons of experience leading a big-league team (2004-2011 White Sox; 2012 Marlins).

  2. He managed a world-championship team (the 2005 White Sox).

  3. The team he managed to a world championship ended a very long championship drought (88 years, making the Mets’ current 36-year drought a piece of cake in comparison).

  4. He has recent managing experience as well, having managed a winter-league team in Venezuela.

  5. He’s not employed as a manager by any major-league team right now.

  6. He clearly has interest in managing again (he interviewed for the Padres’ managerial job before they hired Bob Melvin).

  7. He’d surely be more interested in managing the Mets, who are trying to win now, than the rebuilding A’s (the only other team without a manager right now).

  8. He wouldn’t command as heavy of a contract as Buck Showalter would, which is important now that Steve Cohen has spent his entire net worth on player contracts.

  9. He has a very baseball-savvy mind (I once watched a game when he was with the Braves, and a player lined a ball off the front of the mound and was rolling between third and home, and he came in from shortstop and told his much younger teammates converging to pick it up, to not touch the ball because it was going to roll foul. Indeed it did, it was ruled a foul ball, and the batter was subsequently retired later in that plate appearance. It makes complete sense in hindsight, but in watching it, it didn’t seem as obvious at the moment because it literally started as a liner up the middle. If any player were to pick it up, it’d been considered a base hit, but Ozzie came in, used his smarts, and made sure that the right thing happened).

  10. He’s bilingual, so he’s able to effectively communicate with teammates who speak English and Spanish.

  11. Having managed in Chicago, he already knows how to handle a large media market.

  12. Having managed the White Sox, he also knows how to gain attention toward his team despite being viewed as the β€œsecond team” in the market.

  13. I got his autograph once (it was in KC in 2000 and he was with the then-Devil Rays. I saw Jose Canseco was signing, so I went down to see if he’d sign my program. He walked away before he got to me, but then I saw Ozzie and asked for his autograph, and he signed, unlike that steroid-addled self-centered affront to humanity Canseco).

  14. In addition to the world-championship team he managed, he also coached for another

We have good reason to believe that Bridge Guy arrived at the CPS building at around 12:00 pm or shortly thereafter and was in the area of the trails prior to the murders - the reason being that's what Law Enforcement has implied in their public statements about the vehicle parked there.

One problem I've always had with the notion that Bridge Guy was seen entering the trails at 1:30 pm - a claim that comes from Doug Rice - is that his time between 1:30 and 2:30 is completely unaccounted for. What was he doing for that hour? This is not a large trail system. You can walk from the Freedom Bridge access to the Monon High bridge in 10 minutes. So what was he doing for the hour prior to abducting the girls?

This problem is resolved immediately if we adopt the 2:15 pm sighting proposed by Julie Melvin, and if we accept her claims that he approached the trail system like a man on a mission. In a sense, that's what he was.

This 2:15 pm sighting, while having been more or less memory-holed here on Reddit was acknowledged as a possibility by at least one of the Facebook groups and seems to also have been known to Doug Rice.

Remember, Julie Melvin is aunt to Cody Patty, an associate (or at least former associate) of Doug Rice, and a probable local source to Jim Wagoner. She may have been the one who revealed to Jim Wagoner that the witness to Young Bridge Guy sketch was a teenage girl. I wouldn't be at all surprised to discover that she had some connection to this witness, given all the small town degrees of Kevin Bacon separation in this case.

Timestamp 35:54

TS: Yes, and now remind me, the sketch of the younger individual, where did that come from? Who was dictating that sketch to the artist?

JW: Well of course they're not saying, surprise surprise, but all my contacts and sources on the case say that that younger man sketch, we're looking at it right now, the second sketch released in April of 2019 was based on a teenage girl, an eye-witness account from the trail that day. And that's what I've been told.
