A list of puns related to "Jacob's Ladder"
I will do my best to avoid spoilers in my post.
First of all...God damn
Second, I went into this movie knowing very little about it, aside from its positive reputation. I assumed it had something to do with aliens???
Anyways, IT IS ON HULU IN THE US and decided to give it a shot.
Damn. It was well written, well shot, well acted, etc.
I'd describe it as a brain scratcher, like Memento. But very satisfying, because you don't need to go outside the movie to figure it out (at least in broad strokes).
Ontop of all that, it had a strong emotional core. So I would recommend
This might be a long read, but I wanted to stress the importance of Semen Retention for Manifestation. If you look at the word Man-I-Fest, it can be broken down into Man + Fire.
If SR is practiced long enough, with channeled thoughts and actions, Semen will climb up the Spine. The Spine has 33 vertebrae. In Hermeticism, Kabbalah, and in Alchemy, Jacobβs ladder is the spinal vertebrae that the Semen must climb in order to achieve Enlightenment (Light in the Mind). Your Semen carries consciousness. That consciousness comes from your thoughts. In the Bible, Jacobs ladder is about how Jacob had a vision about angels climbing up and down a ladder delivering messages for God. Those angels are metaphorical for your Seminal Fluid.
So for example, if you masturbate and orgasm to porn, the angels will deliver that message to the lower spiritual realms, because that is where the penis is directed when we stand. Porn is full of hidden symbols (spirals, certain colors, sounds, etc) that the subconscious picks up on in ways that most people don't know because of the lack of occult education. Black Magic sigils work because people masturbate and orgasm to sigils, literally sending their angels into the lower realms, opposite of the vertical spinal cord. This is not the proper way to manifest and only works temporarily, and always ends up backfiring (pun intended).
If you do the opposite of this, and instead of masturbating to porn when you get the urge, go do something aligned with your ultimate goal in life. The angels (your fluid) will see this through your consciousness and deliver the messages up the spinal cord. It will take YEARS. But that is what is required in order to become a man of the highest order.
Look at extremely famous MMA superstar Conor McGregor. He has a tattoo on his spinal cord depicting the double helix, winding all the way to the top of the 33rd vertebrae. There, he has a cross, depicting Christ Consciousness. It is here where you can MAN-I-FEST all the thoughts and actions you had while climbing the ladder. I urge you to take this serious if you want to live the life of a true Man. One who fulfills his destiny and is fondly remembered by his descendants. It is no accident you are finding this knowledge in this perverted world. You are already favored. Don't let your angels die.
This one's been on my list for awhile. I remember I skipped it for awhile thinking it was going to be some dark, gritty war movie, but it is so much more. Man, this one blew me away.
I know some people didn't like it because of the "twist", but I think it was made pretty clear throughout the movie with Singer being told multiple times throughout the movie he is dead already, not to mention the chiropractor's pretty on the nose explanation of what was actually happening.
The movie kicks off almost right away and feels like a nightmarish fever dream until the end. Not many movies make me feel sad after, but can't lie, the agony the main character went through in life and death and his unwillingness to let go had me reflecting on life too. This movie was so tragic and bleak and creepy but also beautiful in its own way.
With the explanation that when we die, if we try to hold onto our life, the ones pulling our old life away can seem like demons, would you say his girlfriend is a demon or an angel? The chiro is clearly an angel, or at least perceived as one. She obviously is trying to help him move on. She burns the pictures of his kids near the beginning, but she's also in the hospital scene when the surgeon tells him bluntly he is dead. Is she an angel or demon? Or both?
Also is Gabe at the end actually Gabe (since he's dead too) taking him to the afterlife with him, or just an "angel" since he has finally let go?
I've just rewatched it for the first time in about 10 years (the original obviously, no desire to watch the remake) but used to watch it religiously, back in my misspent pshycedelic youth. So must have seen it 30 times minimum over the years. Right, we pretty much all agree on here it's a masterpiece (about the only one we do agree on). But rewatching after a break is like watching a brand new film, it's such a well structured film, that's open to your own interpretation to a certain degree. Theres bits I've just watched that I swear I've never seen before, yet I know I have. So yeah, I suppose it is an appreciation post, apologies. But if you're an old head like me, who hasn't seen it in years. Do yourself a favour and rewatch it. It's just blown me away all over again. (I've got a nostalgic yearning for "Altered States" or "Angel Heart" next).
That movie was so good. I donβt know how Iβve never seen. Iβm 28 yrs old. Been watching horror movies since I was 6.
Can yβall recommend me some horror movies like Jacobs Ladder. I know they made a remake a couple years ago but I heard it was trash.
I think the commonality is that the aforementioned films share a similar genre as a "noir psychological horror". But more than that, I think it's more on how the screenplays were presented that make the two somewhat similar and, at the same time, outstanding. I genuinely like their atmospheric display, which is the kind that keeps you glued to the screen from start to finish with satisfaction.
Is there any other movie that can be assumed as in the same league as these two films mentioned, in terms of overall presentation?
I watched A Cure for Wellness a few days ago and like it, although it's unnecessarily long movie. I like movies where the protagonist or group of people find themselves in a mysterious situation and slowly solve it. Shutter Island is my favourite movie so can you please suggest something similar to Shutter Island and A Cure for Wellness? Also I don't like old movies so it is better if movie you suggest is released after 1995. Thanks.
I watched the movie yesterday and I really liked this type of psychological horror and the dream-like atmosphere. Any ideas?
After reading a bunch of praise on here, i decided to watch the movie. wow. just wow. it seems very loose and up for interpretation so here's mine!
the movie i think, was quite confusing. there's no true way to know where in time he is, and whether what we're seeing is a flashback, a hallucination, or neither. i think this is intentional to show the horror of living with mental disorders that induce dissociation. it is so scary to not know whether or not youre in reality, and the movie does an incredible job instilling that uncertainty and dread in the viewers.
loved it!! if uk of any movies like it plz recommend π€πΈ
I want more movies that make me remember how delusional and hallucinating I feel. I know is about a Vietnam war. I just think the flash backs really reminisce imagery of the end in watchtower for babies. Babies see Armageddon in books. I've been diagnosed with schizoaffective disorder, acute psychosis, I'm 26 years old. I've had to leave reddit two times already. This is my third account but I have a lot of growth since I've posted one and a half years ago.
I'm planning on wrestling my delusions and flashbacks. Religious trauma syndrome. High control groups. Gang stalking. I feel paranoid to post this to be honest. I don't understand most social interactions and also reality. I really don't get reality. I've watched movies and played games and listened to music "religion" described "evil". I don't know.
The thing that is getting to me the most is my denial; "this is silly, this could never happen to me."
I have schizophrenia likely now it's paranoid schizophrenia. I know that's common for Jehovah witness too I wanted to be given a type of support maybe.
I'm on a pretty good run where i can unlock either of those, but i feel i might not be good enough to kill blue baby, so what should i do?
I have been given a copy of the above book and it is next on my reading list. The theme is the rediscovery of Mussar: the ancient Jewish tradition of inner development and spiritual discipline, which has aspects in common with what we now call βMindfulnessβ. I look forward to reading the book but wondered if any of you have read it, or have any wider thoughts on Mussar?
My heritage is not Jewish but I feel a close spiritual connection to the religion, and a cultural connection as I have always had many Jewish friends and colleagues. Itβs something I think at times of taking further. My demographic is middle aged gay man, married to long term partner.
My co-workers and I started putting together our favorite scary movie list. I jotted down Jacob's Ladder at the top of my list. Some co-workers never heard of it, and for the one's who watched it nodded in approval. I watched it in high school thanks to Bravo's 100 Scariest Movie Moments and I only watched it for the scares, but the philosophical and existential themes truly scare hell out of me as I've gotten older.
I enjoy horror films that deal with religious and existential themes, and Jacob's Ladder finds a perfect balance with both. As a viewer, you are along for the ride questioning Jacob's reality, the scares are truly haunting, and by the time the movie ends I can't help but want to tear up for Jacob. I guess this is more of an appreciation post to a great movie that ages as good as the other greats. Anyone have any thoughts on the film they would like to share?
