A list of puns related to "Bethel"
Just watching the convention intro on Lloyd Evans Channel, the one with the parents indoctrinating their daughter.
Am I the only one wondering how a JW couple that skipped out on any education somehow has a pristine home and plenty of cash for clothes, recreation and travel to conventions?
In the real world both uneducated low wage parents are working their asses off for necessities. By the time theyβre done with their day all they want to do is pass out, forget about reading repetitive propaganda to your unsuspecting child and putting on your βgoodβ Walmart clothes to attend yet another meeting.
Just completely unreal.
I'm out of touch with the scale of the layoffs but I know two couples that went into BethHell from my old circuit have been bumped to the kerb this month.
Couple one - went in ten years ago - he is an electrician, she of course did cleaning and laundry and the looking after the "(overlapping) generation that would never pass away" in the infirmary.
About 40 years old; no property; no job. They hit the streets this month and are living her with aging mummy and daddy super dubs. What a blessing for the congregation to have a "young elder" move in.
Couple two - even sadder - no qualifications - they will be hitting the streets in August. Similar age but they have been in fifteen years. Another "young elder" for another congregation. Rumour has it that they will be window washing and are looking for "help" to set up business.
Obviously no kids. At least the delusion will not infect another generation.
Go in peace, be warm and well fed ... I wish I had more sympathy. I just can't muster any.
It just occurred to me that it is unlikely that they have some sort of 401k, but wanted to know if anyone have any insight on this topic.
I received a phone call from secretery of my congregation. First the normal small talk like how are you blah blah blah. Then he finally managed to reveal the real reason for his phone call.
The letter from branch office urged elders to make sure that all publishers (i am inactive) have two things in their home:
Blood card accordingly filled and signed
Emergency kit ready
I am not sure why they are so fussed about these two? Blood card i understand, but this emergency kit?
Is Armageddon near? But if Jehovah protect his people anyway, who needs toilet rolls, dry food, bean cans and sleeping bags?!
I would like to know whatβs in that letter. Any PIMO elders out there, who have access to the letter?
Christians wanted to cancel Harry Potter cause witchcraft.
Christians wanted to cancel Target over their trans-inclusive bathroom policy.
They wanted to cancel starbucks over a fucking holiday cup design.
They wanted to cancel Proctor and Gamble for opposing measures that would limit gay rights.
For years, conservative Evangelicals have led the charge when it comes to "cancelling" groups, businesses, etc. with which they disagree.
However, when someone dares to cancel them, they want to whine and cry and play the victim and act like they are so opposed to "cancel culture."
Don't believe that bullshit. They have zero problem cancelling anyone who challenges their narrative. They just don't want to be on the receiving end.
Thereβs an old couple in my cong who has two sons, the older one never got baptized and had serious drinking n drug problems.
Another one is very zealous n βspiritualβ, heβs a very talented young man who graduated from good uni and was earning good money in the world. However, he gave everything up to climb the βspiritual ladderβ, heβs now a young elder serving in Bethel, doing very intellectual n professional stuff for the org for free.
So just before Covid, the older son of the couple died of accident, this couple was very sad n devastated, so the younger son who lives in Bethel tried to come home a lot to comfort them. But soon came the Covid, then Bethel is in complete lockdown, the younger son could not come home anymore, which leaves his mum in serious grief. She couldnβt sleep every night as she misses her sons and until now this couple hasnβt seen their younger son for over a year...
Theyβre in their late 70s and they really need someone to take care of them. Iβm just really sorry to see them like that, and their younger son has become a robot for the org too...
This whole situation is just really sad, I hate to see genuine ppl suffer for the stupid n cruel rules of the org.
They read a letter this week asking for applications to go to bethel.
For the born-ins, were you ever tempted to apply at some point during your jw career?
Why did you not go?
A few years ago one, my mother (who is heavily PIMI and pioneer since I was a child) told me she was hurt and started to question things when Bethel started sending people home. Those people who had no skills and no education and lived at bethel for years (some upwards of 30) sued the organization and won. They claimed that they were told not to pursue education and were promised life at bethel. Now that theyβre out with no skills, they couldnβt live, make money and take care of themselves. I donβt know how she got this info but she was quickly reassured with some talk the society put out that said those brothers and sisters who sued will have Jehovah to answer to. Anyone have any info regarding this..this was the only time I ever heard of it. I CANNOT BELIEVE all the secrets we as PIMIs donβt know!! The organization does an AMAZING job of keeping people from searching for information.

Bethel Church is a Christian group that has its tentacles in numerous parts of contemporary Christianity. They are a force on college campuses around the country with funded on campus Christian groups, they produce some of the most popular Christian music of the past decade, and have hundreds of thousands of followers across the country.
Their music is played by thousands of churches across the country and Bethel makes an absolute killing financially by charging church groups to play the music live. They are also notoriously anti-LGBTQ, anti-women, and have pushed numerous Q-anon and other alt-right narratives. A viral video recently had one of their leaders apologizing for a false prophecy of Trump remaining president that contributed to the January 6th Terrorist Attack on the Capitol.

I left Christianity for good near the end of 2019. I sang Bethel songs for years with a non-denominational Christian Church band and, as an openly Queer person, it just crushes me that I supported this shit indirectly. I had no idea that the words I sang were created by such hateful people and it contributed to the main reason I left the church: Their constant and unapologetic oppression of others.
The story here is about a Bethel "seminar" I attended and the terrifying information I found.
At my last church, I was approached by an individual named Sam and she said she was part of a Holy Spirit group that was based on Bethel teachings. We talked for a bit over lunch after service and she invited me to a seminar she was hosting the next week. The seminar was scheduled for over six hours and I said I would check out some of it.
When I arrived, it was filled with about 50 people and setup almost like a time-share sales operation. After an hour, I was handed a packet of information and found something curious; they offered a form of "Spiritual" therapy for up to $100 a session. I inquired more about this and, as I only received some general info on what the qualifications were to give this therapy, I decided to research this myself. They call it "Sozo Minisitry". It includes anti-gay conversion therapy that has been banned in numerous states, and also has a sinister form of therapy meant to uncover repressed memories to become closer to Jesus.
There are numerous therapy methods that have been deemed unethical and even illegal in the United States. One of the most prominent of these was a therapy called "R

Does anyone know how much it costs to ship a car to Bethel from WA state? Trying to weigh option is better buying a car in WA and shipping it there or buying in Anchorage and ship there. Or maybe driving it to anchorage then ship it from there. Any info will be greatly appreciated!
For the first time I've been able to see a bear outside a zoo, 1000ft from my home. She was with her cubs before they flew up a tree. She didn't seem to mind us watching from a far distance. She was rolling and just was really awesome to witness :)

Thereβs COVID-19 and they still wanted to get new Staffsβ¦this is a fucked up Twist and Iβm shocked how itβs ridiculous
Not sure how to link it, but Spartan just posted to their facebook page an update for Bethel, NY:
Updated on Tri-State, NY: Customers that are fully vaccinated are welcome to not wear a face-covering in festival or on course. Customers that are not vaccinated are still required to wear a face-covering in festival and maintain six feet apart unless sitting and eating.

Where are them sweet, sweet roads at up there?
(Any particularly good roads or areas for riding? Of course, I'm eyeing the Big Indian wilderness.)
Today I was told a story by my gorgeous (seriously, sheβs really pretty), smart, single girlfriend.
Well-meaning married couples in cities all over America (maybe Canada too?) are helping single sisters meet single Bethel boys virtually. It canβt be too obvious, of course. But there are virtual social nights, trivia nights, happy hours, movie nights, etc with a mix of married and single people.
During one of these virtual events hosted by a married couple, my friend met a single Bethel guy. Side note: there were only 2 single guys at this virtual event. So it seems that the ratio of single guys to single girls at Witness events hasnβt improved much even though itβs on zoom. Sigh.
This Bethel guy is in his late-30βs, attended an Ivy League, drinks expensive wine and has a high-profile job at headquarters. (letβs talk about his Ivy League education another time)
After the virtual event, Bethel dude got my friendβs number from the host and started reaching out to her.
My friend wasnβt physically attracted to this dude but she decided she shouldnβt be shallow and instead, try to keep an open mind. When he invited her to his public talk (PT) a few weeks later, she agreed. He had been invited to be a guest speaker and she had heard that she is a great speaker.
So on the day of Bethel dudeβs PT, she signs on to zoom. Itβs not her hall so she introduces herself to this cong, etc. etc. Much to her horror, she begins to realize that she is not the only single sister that he has invited to watch him give his talk. He has invited, wait for it... TEN other single sisters from all over the country to watch him give his talk.
Why do I think this is bad behavior? Your answer might depend on where you are on the scale of PIMO, PIMI, PIMP (the last one is my own; youβre βinβ but youβre βp!ssedβ).
If I had heard this story five years ago, I would have barely batted an eye. I was totally used to single boys and especially single Bethelites boys treating women like a commodity, a way to establish status, maybe even clout. Letβs keep in mind in the JW world, Bethelites are our version of A-listers. To me, this Bethel dude used my gorgeous friend and 10 other single women to establish his status and clout to this random cong that he was visiting as a guest speaker. He needed to establish his status as an A-lister in this org. Itβs A-Rod showing up at some sporting event with 11 hot supermodels, just because he can.
Like most of you, I have so many stories. Iβve star
... keep reading on reddit β‘I have lived in bethel for the last 7 years, and I really enjoy it here, I see a lot of negativity towards it on this sun, and I'm just wondering what people dont like about it?
Hi! Iβve always had my heart set on raising my own chickens for food as well as to help control ticks and bugs in my yard. Unfortunately 1 1/2 years ago Bethel amended the law of one acre and up can have chickens.. now it goes by zoning. Iβm in an r-10 district and despite my 1.36 acres Iβm not allowed to have chickens.. even though neighbors a couple blocks from me with less acreage is allowed. Iβm not asking for a surplus of chickens nor even a rooster. I know this is a long shot but I am wondering if there is anyone interested in helping me amend the law, and/or anyone that lives in Bethel that is affected by this law. In times like these I think growing your own food is a very important thing to do.. we were so close to not being able to go to the grocery because of the pandemic, people getting Covid and having to hire others to go to store for them etc. Thanks in advance for any and all insight!
Edit: I may have trouble responding since this is a new throwaway.
Edit 2: my neighbors are kinda iffy.. I donβt know how theyβd feel about chickens, let alone their names. People can be really weird and I would hate to get chickens, build a coop..just to have them call the town and get them removed.
I was looking into a variance but as I stated above we think our neighbors within 100 ft of our property line could vehemently protest at our public hearing.. thinking we might have a better chance getting more people on board.. strength in numbers :)
Edit 3: What happened was people wanted to have chickens in smaller lots so for a compromise they allowed smaller lots in a different zoning r-20 and up to be able to have chickens but restricted those closest to town. Sorry my replies are getting removed!
Edit 4: Ordinance is out of the question per lawyer. Even if I got the okay from neighbors it would be hard to claim βhardshipβ due to financial/economical reasons not being allowed. Hardship only pertains to topography, landscape issues with building permits. I moved into a place I thought Iβd be allowed to have chickens and did not get the memo that they were changing the law about 6-7 months into my move in. You have to physically go on their site to see public hearings and was not notified by mail this was to be changed.
