A list of puns related to "International Council of Women"
Here's a rare photo of the first deputy director of the Kurchatov Institute - Valery Alekseyevich Legasov, and vice-chairman of the Council of Ministers - Boris Yevdokimovich Shcherbina, taken at the meeting of the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) in Vienna. The conference was attended by more than 800 scientists and government officials who were experts in nuclear energy, radiation safety and health care. The meeting was also attended by government representatives from Belarus, The Soviet Union and Ukraine. The conference looked into the explosion at reactor number four at the Chernobyl Nuclear Power Plant.

I see this a lot last year and this year is the same. At first, I thought people were kidding around, like โhey, isnโt it funny that outsiders looking in see Kabam celebrate IWD by having us beat up female champs? Itโs a funny thought.โ Instead, some of them are serious, as in theyโre thinking โwhy are we beating up women? Isnโt that offensive and sexist?โ
How can so many completely miss the point by that much? You rarely see posts about people thanking Dragon or Cat for the easy or fun matchups, or asking if Katy hates the community with that hard and difficult node. You get, instead, โwhy canโt Kabam restrict our roster to female champs only so that it doesnโt look bad on their part?โ As if thatโs any better? Youโre still beating up women, mate. Kabam did something better this year by giving us a 5 star female hero crystal that contains amazing and sought after champs like Quake, Ghost, Scarlet Witch, Medusa, CMM, etc. But, apparently thatโs not enough because beating up women in a fighting game on a day we celebrate women is a bad idea. Iโm starting to doubt the intelligence of some of the members in this community.
TL;DR: If you unironically think IWD is a bad idea, please stop blaming Kabam for creating these fights. The female members of the community are the oneโs who created these fights. And the IWD boss rush is to celebrate and thank these female members/content creators for their contribution to MCOC. FYI.
After a weekend of carding, I have a nice big stack of outgoing mail. Why not send out some more to celebrate International Women's Day?! I'm offering some postcards I've been saving for about 10 years, black and white portraits of strong women. These are all taken by Richard Avedon, who was known as a fashion photographer but took some stunning portraits of 'ordinary' people as well. These cards are a mix of both.
From left to right on the top row: (1) The great poet Marianne Moore, (2) Author Karen Blixen (who wrote Out of Africa and other books under the name Isak Dinesen) (3) Factory Worker Petra Alvarado. Bottom row: (4) Extraordinary opera singer Marion Anderson, the first African American of any gender to perform at the Metropolitan Opera in New York.
If you're a human of any gender who believes that women's rights are human rights and you have some flair, let me know which card you want and why! (Note that I can send only one internationally after using lots of postage this weekend.) After all these years I am ready to send these to new happy homes :-)
