A list of puns related to "Indoor mold"
Thought I was crazy when my 3 plants (meyer lemon, finger lime, lime) developed a thick white layer of fuzzy mold, two days after applying Down To Earth 6-3-3 fertilizer, and then gave rise to a massive fungus gnat infestation shortly thereafter. Everyone said I was obv overwatering, but I've a very quickly draining soil, drilled dozens of holes in the sides of each pot to encourage additional airflow, water from the bottom, use wooden dowels to keep an eye on moisture, water only when absolutely necessary etc. I KNEW it couldn't be the overwatering.
Today I checked the Amazon reviews to see if I could fertilize while bottom-watering, and was kinda floored to see multiple reviews with my exact same issue, including the ensuing fungus gnat problem. I also read that this doesn't happen when they're outdoors because mold-munching bugs like springtails take care of it before I'd even notice. Makes sense, I guess.
Anyway, the fertilizer works really really well and my plants love it...but the positive effects are negated by the mold and pests that come along with it. Any other suggestions?
My house doesnβt have central air conditioning, and so in the summer months the humidity is generally always above 60% (never seen it lower than that) and most of the time above 70% as well. Reading articles online, everyone freaks out and says βhumidity over 60% becomes a mold risk!β so it seems kind of concerning, but Iβm thinking it must be partially bullshit, because I know many homes donβt have AC and probably have the same humidity level as mine. And what did people do before they invented AC in the first place? Iβm thinking that it may make mold growth more likely, but in real-world situations, does this actually happen with any sort of frequency?
Currently remodeling my hallway. would like to put in a lush green moss wall or hanging wall moss garden to contrast a dark green against a light/pale green paint. Is this possible to do in doors? Will I need grow lights, irrigation, etc.? Or can this be done without lighting, and hand watering with a misting bottle? What is the likely hood it will work?
Any advice, insight, guides, how tos will be much appreciated! Hoping that this will work.
