I was just wondering weapons that are using plasma to ignite the propellant compound and then further using magnetic rails or just coil system to give a further power are possible?
Bonus question; Can rail and coil gun systems work together? Like a rail/coil gun is possible?
Another bonus question; Is metal storm missile swarms possible?
So far I've tried: new plug, bypassing the ground wire, checking the coil resistance (in spec) and other potential continuity issues.
It's a bare engine so I don't think its a malfunctioning safety feature.
Referencing pg 36 of the serv manual, I was able to measure resistance of the 2nd coil, but not a continuity, which seems odd.

I have a 2009 Toyota Corolla with 150k miles on it. I bought it used so I don’t know when the coils were last replaced.
One coil went out on me today. A mechanic recommended that I replace all four coils on it since the car has 150k+ miles.
My question is, should I just replace one coil or all four?
Car stopped working. Engine turned over no start. Changed the ignition coil. And worked perfectly for 24 hours. Now it will not start again. What am I missing.

recently i`ve bought a Simson S51 but there was no ignition.
Then I got a PVL ignition from my friend but the ignition has a problem.
The spark is very weak.
I have to clean the spark very often.
The moped misfires in low RPM and it does not accept any gas.
We think the ignition coil is broken, but we are not sure.
Can someone help me? :)
Symptoms - First this showed up as P0335 - Crankshaft position sensor "A" Circuit. Then a misfire on cylinder 3 showed up.
First let me start off by saying that this is a slightly tedious job. Turns out hemi 5.7L engines use 16 spark plugs... that's right 16 spark plugs.
Background - I purchased this new to me 2005 WK 5.7L hemi exactly a couple of months ago. I flew down to a nearby town and just bought it. The price was kind of good. When I got there and plugged in the the odbc scanner ( This portion is more nuanced but ill write up a longer post another day) it detected an issue with the crankshaft position sensor. I bought an crankshaft position sensor at o-Reilly's, replaced it, cleared the codes etc and made a deal with the seller (at a lower price of course) and drove home 300 odd miles with my butt tightly clenched initially but started feeling a lot more confident an hour or so into the drive.
Came back home and everything was great, and then a month or so later, car started jerking and again through a code for the Crankshaft position sensor. I was a little surprised since I just changed the damn sensor nonetheless to deal with murphy's law I went and got a new crankshaft position sensor from the dealership this time, plugged it in and still no dice, jeep was still sort of jerking etc. however this time the scanner also detected a misfire on cylinder 3. So a friend and I got on the internet and started searching various Mopar forums, turns out a bad ignition coil causing the misfire can cause the crankshaft position sensor code to throw as well.
Changed out all the coils and spark plugs as well and she runs pretty good now. No misfires or cps related codes.

I have a Toro lawnmower with a 6.5 hp B&S that I suspect needs a new ignition coil (590454). It is around $50 for OEM, but there are aftermarket compatible coils for as little as $11 but mainly in the $14-$20 dollar range.
How do you fine folks feel about non-OEM magneto coils? Is there a good brand I should purchase?

So my check engine light and traction control light recently came on. Took the car to my mechanic and he stated one of the ignition coils was bad and I needed to replace it, this has happened in the past. He recommended replacing all 3 of the coils on the 1, 3, and 5 cylinders to save money in the long run. He quoted this at around 700 dollars. Am I getting ripped off?
I was driving my Chevy Sonic home when I noticed my car felt like it was shaking under my seat, then I looked at the Check engine light flashing, turned down the music and heard a ticking noise. I drove it home which took a couple minutes and tried to take it easy. I could feel it had lost power and I knew something was really wrong.
I pulled in to my driveway and the idle was absolutely terrible so of course I shut it off right away. Once the car cooled down a bit I popped the hood and noticed the little cover on the engine was already lifted a bit. Once I fully removed the cover, plastic from one of the coils had been blown out. When I removed the ignition coil (all 4 are one piece connected) one of them was in half and the rubber was in pieces all of the engine, it literally blew up. 3 of the spark plugs and coil were in perfect condition but one of them was destroyed.
My old ignition coil had a small crack in one of the coils so I replaced it and it had 4 brand new spark plugs put in about 2 months ago. The engine has 194k KMs on it and it always idled fine when it first started, but would idle a little bit rough after driving it for a while (like if I drove to McDonald’s it would run fine but then might idle a bit rough in the drive thru) It was also a bit jerky at times, when taking my foot off the gas especially, it would lose speed quicker than other cars I’ve driven
Anyone know what could’ve went wrong? If it’s fixable? Any similar experiences?
So my 99 1.8 turbo a4 is giving all the signs of a bad coil. Misfiring, low power, funky idle. Only had the car a year or so, absolutely love it, but I'll be dipped if I can even Find the coils to check which ones I need. YouTube wasn't much help, any hints for a very non-technical minded person?
a small but noticeable increase in horse power, specifically at lower RPM. I was looking for a little more power when driving up city hills between 35-45 mph. this did it, no down shifting to accelerator on our hills when traveling at these speeds.
Also seeing a 1/2 to 1 mile per gallon increase in MPG. its to be seen how much better MPG I really get, but after a week I see slight improvement.
I have a 2016 Forester XT. Just changed the spark plugs and it is not throwing a P0352 ignition coil B circuit malfunction.
Does anyone know which spark plug/coil this would be?
Edit: I found This. And then realized I guess I didn't...nevermind I'm going to blame it on my wife. She didn't hook up the coil harness
I'm a dumb dumb and when I was checking to see if my spark plug socket fit I dropped the bolt that holds down the ignition coil. I believe the bolt is an M6 x 25mm? Is that correct?
I have a 2005 Nissan Altima with a 2.5L engine, I had an engine misfire issue with my car so I finally got to replace my ignition coils last night and that seemed to get rid of the misfire.
Yesterday, I decided to drive my car to see if a misfire would be triggered. My engine light came on after 5 minutes of driving, I checked the code and got P1274.
For the altima, P1274 code is due to a faulty Air/Fuel sensor, my car seemed to drive fine and I didn't hear any strange noises so I decided to reset the OBD code to see if it would flare up again.
Drove around 15 minutes after clearing the code to see if it came up again, nothing. Today, I drove to work and on the way back I took the freeway. The service engine light turned on when I was on the freeway, when I got home I checked the code and it gave me a completly different code this time. This code was P0420 which indicates a problem with the catalytic converter.
I am not sure what to make of this, could there be a problem with the OBD reader or is the computer glitching? or is this all related to something going wrong in my car? I haven't noticed any strange noises and the car seems to drive fine.
should I clear the code and see if I get a different code again?
The rubber boot at the top of two of my ignition coils is cut/ bent. Should i replace the coils? I noticed a slight hesitation after getting my car from dealer which prompted me to check out.
I've had my ignition coil go twice in the span of 1.5 year. Is this a common defect in the car?
So I have a 2004 Honda Fit, but I need some Ignition coil packs because of a misfire (common issue apparently). Normally (western countries) I'd head down to my local auto parts store but I'm honestly not sure if places like Autobacs stock these kinda items.
Any websites you guys can recommend?
