A list of puns related to "Houseplant care"
I was super into houseplants in my early 20s, but life happened and I unfortunately kind of neglected them. I'm just getting back into houseplants and trying to get my poor old neglected plants to forgive me.
Two plants that are still doing fantastic despite all of this are a boston fern and an areca palm. So I'm really surprised to learn that ferns and palms are known in the houseplant world for being really finicky and difficult! These are plants that are over 10 years old, about 1.5 metres from a north facing window, have needed repotting for at least 7 years, never been fed, never been misted, barely dusted, and yet are still growing and doing well. Most of my "care" in the past 8 years has to be to dump some water when the peace lily next to them wilts. But they don't care: the palm just sent out 3 new shoots and the fern has fronds which are almost a metre long. This isn't a brag btw, I have done nothing! Maybe they just like my cold north western European house?!
Anyone else have "difficult" plants that thrive despite their reputation?
Title kinda says it all, my friend got me this houseplant but lost the directions for it/information, I've never really owned a houseplant before and I'm sure you guys get these types of questions all the time but I thought this would be the best place to ask. Can anyone identify the type of plant? And would you have any advice on how to take care of it? (Sunlight exposure, watering info, what not to do, anything else that would be helpful to know) I apologize if this post comes off as ignorant or redundant, this is my first interaction on this sub and I have no idea what is encouraged/discouraged as far as posts go.

Some hobbies have a must-have guide to that particular field. Is there a gold-standard guide to the care and propagation of houseplants that everyone should have?.
