I realized I was Asexual after my girlfriend put on High Maintenance. The moment Avery and Kym discuss sexuality, I had a sudden chest churning crying session. My girlfriend joined in lol. A lot of things made sense for us in that moment. Now, it’s a day later and we decided sit down together and watch some videos on Asexuality. As we discovered the spectrum together, we also discussed what I identify with specifically. I was still getting there when she tapped out of the conversation. She said she needed to take a walk. Instead she went to the room and hasn’t been back smh. We’ve been together for 2+ years. She’s literally the most understanding patient and caring individual. She’s respected all of my sexual boundaries and limits as I’ve expressed them throughout our relationship. I just never accurately defined my sexuality or knew how to express it accurately??? Anyways, I’m writing my first Reddit post ever seeking advice, or just other experiences with a similar dynamic. Is it normal for this to be really hard for partners of aces? Should I be worried about losing the one person I love because of my sexuality?
