A list of puns related to "Music Journalism"
I'm looking to develop a career in music journalism - music and writing have always been my passion, and I want to combine the two.
By way of background, I am a classical vocalist and pianist currently in the second year of my bachelor of music degree. I've had a blog since 2014 and have written blogs and copy for several agencies.
I'm not sure where to go from here. I have tried to offer my services to classical music publications locally and online but never heard back from them. Any advice would be appreciated.
Hello there, I'm a Scottish photographer and zinester who's interested in the local music scene here in mainly Edinburgh and Glasgow, I was wondering if anyone else based in Scotland is interested in collaborating on a music zine about local musicians. If anyone would like to get some practice with interviewing musicians. I'd be taking photos of the musicians. Hopefully we'd all benefit by this by getting our work out there. Please let me know if you're interested in this fun little project!
Iβm very tired of every article just complaining about Kanye as a person and not talking about the music at any level and if they do itβs basic ass comments with no explanation of why they feel that way.
Hi! I have a book being published in December and I am looking to enter it into some contests. It is a music journalism book. I did browse a bit online for nonfiction book contests, but a lot of them seem to be for creative nonfiction which does not apply to me. Any suggestions for this type of book? Pop culture or music conference, etc?
iβm a teenager and those are my two biggest interests, love thinking + writing about them in private but unsure how to get into it professionally

Music journalism has been something I have wanted to do since I was a kid, it's something I am passionate about and something I love. I could write endless articles about endless songs, and would love to take it on as a career. I wanted to ask this community if anyone knew of a website, blog, small magazine or anywhere I could apply to write an article for- I would love to just start trying to get some of my stuff out and see what kind of reaction it gets, what I need to improve etc.
I currently live in the UK and am a student doing A Levels, but once I have left I hope to travel somewhere different and get some work experience in the field I just have no idea where to begin. I've researched into this but obviously no current place is guaranteed for years in advance. So if anybody has any suggestions on where to begin submitting pieces or even posting them to a music journalism community, it would be really appreciated information! :)
Hey yβall!
Iβm dipping my toes into the waters of music journalism and am trying to figure out how to create content (although I fucking hate that term) that will be engaging and keep people coming back to my blog / social media pages. Iβm definitely open to suggestions, because I donβt want to do playlists / album / show (when we get them back) reviews / interviews if that kind of stuff isnβt appealing to people!
Lemme know what floats your collective boats!
Thx <3<3<3
Best ec's to get at a freshman in HS living in NYC? My interest is anything music and STEM related as well as journalism.
Hello! I am a current student in my second semester at Berklee College of Music. I have two dueling passions - a love for producing, composing, and songwriting, as well as creative writing and blogging. I have been entertaining the idea of starting a music blog and trying to delve into the world of music journalism, but I am unsure of where to start. Berklee offers a minor in creative writing (or an individualized minor in liberal arts), but I am not sure if that would be suitable to pursue a career in the music journalism field. In middle school I was featured on the local NPR for a personal essay and wrote a self-published book, in high school, I wrote for the school published poetry journals, took various AP classes for college credit, and hosted art/music events as an intern. I'm in the βreal worldβ now and I don't think any of those skills will help me very much. Does anyone have any advice for a contemporary writing and production major who also loves to write? I would like my career to reflect both of my interests. I am feeling stuck. Best, Lily
So basically i'm about to graduate with a bachelor's degree in English Literature and I am planning to pursue journalism after this for my Master's degree. But what i particularly wanna do is Music Journalism. But i'm not exactly sure what are the things I'll be required to do in this field, except the fact that i'll have to work with a music magazine and interview bands and review gigs, artists, albums etc.
Also, is it necessary to have a degree in music to pursue said stream? I am really passionate about music and play an instrument myself (im a noob, but yeah).
And how do i go about connecting with the local scene? In my country music is not a popularly pursued career path but we do have an averagely happening local music scene.
Or do I just not go for Master's degree at all because frankly I really wanna start gathering some experience in this field. I am taking a year off this year and not enroll in any Master's programme yet, so I have some time to decide. In the meanwhile, I have decided to start a blog to build up some content to present as my portfolio but I'm not aure how to go about it. I'm sure it will be difficult to approach local bands just yet, without anything to show that "i do this work". What kind of stuff do i start writing about first? About stuff that i've already listened to or listening to?
Also is it even worth it to take this path up as a career, because a lot of people have previously pointed out otherwise. But this is what I really wanna do, so I want to gather as many opinions on this as possible :v
Hey there I'm 21F and I'm looking forward to pursue music journalism as a career. But I'm not sure how to go about it. I have confidence in my writing abilities in English and also I'm a total music buff. I even play an instrument (although I'm still on the learning process) and have some knowledge in music theory. All in all, music plays a very important role in my life.
I am currently about to graduate with a Bachelors' degree in English and was looking forward to pursue jornalism as a Masters' degree. However, since I specifically wanna do music journalism, I was wondering if there are any universities (any country in favourable) which provides a course in Music Journalism specifically. Even if it's a Bachelors' degree that's fine.
Or if not, what are my other options to follow about a career in music journalism?
I have decided to start a blog where I publish stuff related to music - just general stuff like album reviews, local gig reviews etc. like that and will slowly reach out to my local scene.
But if I want to make a solid career out of it, is there any specific strategy I should follow? How do I go about building my CV so that I can approach music magazines for work?
P.S. I live in India currently but I want to relocate to some other country in the future where the music scene is much more alive, and work for magazines there (I'm thinking U.K or the U.S.A.). But before that I want to build a solid CV in my local scene here. How do I begin to approach local music platforms and magazines to let me work for them?
I believe it was called either "A Brave Small World" or "A Small New World" and it was by an LA music outlet, maybe LA Weekly, but could be something else.
In it, the author maps the rise of bigger and bigger sellers in the music industry, culminating in the diamond record certification for selling 10 million albums. He then talks about how Napster had at once effectively killed the diamond award but also made larger indie successes viable. Outkast and The Postal Service were both mentioned.
I spent all afternoon trying to find this on the Google with no luck. The thing that really sucks is that there's every chance that the article is just no longer online. It's been 15 years and maybe the outlet is just gone. Or deleted their archives.
Any help would be appreciated.
Thanks!
Does anyone know if there are any audio recording booths available to reserve if I'm not in a major that requires me to record audio? I just wanna record a song that I wrote for shits and giggles. I am able to check out a mic from Durham but I would love to actually be able to record in a booth.
