A list of puns related to "Hack and slash"
Hey guys!
I am looking for an arpg/hack and slash style game (like D3, Path of Exile).
Ive tried the new Wolcen and it is paced too slowly for me - i would like to have at least the same combat pace as PoE with a good build has. I dont really care about graphics and i dont give a flying fuck about story.
What I really want is a good loot/gear system that scales well into the endgame. On top of that I would like to have great endgame progression options (a well made endgame) - a game that I could play for thousands of hours (just like PoE or D3 aswell).
Basically I am looking for PoE but another game thats done differently with similar pace and quality.
Edit: Since someone mentioned it in the comments I want to clarify what I mean by fast pace. By "fact pace" i mean arpgs that focus on clearspeed and killing lots of enemies quickly rather than having telegraphed attacks and bosses to fight. (Not saying these things cant exist in the same game, just not too much please.) Spammable movement skills/lots of movement speed combined with screenclearing abilities are just the gameplay ive been looking for. I am not looking for a difficult game - rather a very satisfying one. For anyone who played path of exile its probably clear. Not saying the game cant be hard/complex - id actually appreciate both of these qualities. Also animation cancelling is a must I have realised after trying wolcen (in which you cant). So any arpg that allows for fast moving screen clearing gameplay with decent depth to it would be a fit.
Edit: Thanks for all the responses so far!
I like more dramatic, violent hack 'n slashers like God of War and Metal Gear Rising. They have revenge plots which I enjoy, satisfying finishing moves and cool cutscenes.
Not a fan of Devil May Cry and Bayonetta. Too comedic, not very fun to play, not violent enough, and the MCs don't appeal to me at all.
I am trying to get my brother to give Dark Souls a fair shake because I think he will adore the games once he actually gives them an honest try. They seem like perfect games for him because:
He loves Metroidvania Castlevania games: Claims Portrait of Ruin and Order of Ecclesia to be two of his favorite games of all time.
He loves Challenging games: Mega Man/Mega Man X, Battletoads (has beaten it legitimately) Devil May Cry, Contra, etc.
He loves Theory Crafting in RPGs: Creating game breakingly powerful setups on Castlevania, Final Fantasy, Disgaea and such.
He loves Fighting games: He's a madman at Smash Bros. and really enjoys Street Fighter, Tekken, Chivalry and Soul Caliber.
Despite my trying to explain otherwise, he seems to think the games are an Elderscrolls knock off (Neither of us like Elderscrolls.) He said he tried one of them but doesn't remember whether it was Dark Souls 1 or 2. He said, "It just seemed like your generic roaming through fields and mashing X to mow down skeletons, just like Oblvion or something"
The thing is, I remember sorta thinking the same thing before I really dug in played Dark Souls. I figured it was just another generic medievil-fantasy Action/RPG. The only reason I stuck with it was because I kept reading that it was the true heir to Castlevania in 3D. Then, after dying at the Bell Gargoyles a couple times and then tweaking my gear and changing my strategy a bit to beat them did I realize that there was more to it than I thought.
PS5 exclusive Godfall looks like a hack-and-slash Destiny
https://www.techradar.com/in/news/first-ps5-exclusive-godfall-looks-like-a-hack-and-slash-destiny
Hey Wolcen Team ,
Ive purchased your game yesterday and already got 20 hrs in :D . I started playing hack and slash rpgs when diablo hellfire was released , from there ive played all the diablo's stacking about 5k to 10 k hours more or less . I've played most of the popular hack and slash there poe, grim dawn , van helsing ,and few others .
I went into your game kinda blindly since I watched only several streams and not much info but i like your engine and graphics and decided to give it a try directly .
I want to share some of my thoughts here since your website is giving me error 500 xD , and i hope someone reads and takes my feedback in consideration , now i dont know if some of the issues i ll list are already being addressed but regardless i ll put all that i noticed so far :
- when equipping new items vs equipped items its very hard to decide how is affecting your overall stats , without clicking invetory , stats , extend stands and watch each stat as you swap between items constantly - this was an issue in d3 that took months to fix by the devs , would be a good idea to have stats directly impacted under the item without opening two tabs and expanding and constantly switching between old and new item
- Unique items dont scale properly with their levels , for example i have unique helm lvl 20 that beats the stats of the same unique helm lvl 29, same for rare items i had rare glove lvl 13 that beats the stats of lvl 28
- Why no quivers for rangers ?
-Ivakin bow if set to always give you low dmg might need rework because a lower lvl bow beats its stats and makes it better to clear levels than using this unique bow that multiplies projectiles by 2
2/22/2020 - add on spells , if you dont mix some builds sux ...i see people keep complaining about 2 h staff mages
- Ive encountered a whole bunch of terrain bugs where i couldnt advance more , some were crucial and required for me to exit the game (got some screenshots too) - 2/22/2020 its ALOT WORSE .... i have so many places i got stuck , some major freezes and crashes too
- I dont like the health - rage and will power hud location and looks , but i assume you wanted to have unique look of your game , but i cant pay attention to my bars being right under my character . I wish i can put em classic style left and right . and i dont understand why you made mana to reduce rage but hey its a new mechanic for me i havent pay proper attention yet .2/22/2020 still dont like it
I played a lot of hack and slash games like Bayonetta, dmc5 , astral chain , nier automata , vanquish etc Is there any good hack and slash game for me to play?
I remember 2 characters a teen boy and girl, only the boy was playable
You start off in a country village next to a forest.
You have a mini map.
It has fully exploreable maps and attack enemies in like an action/ hack n slash manner
Enemies have a heath bar and drop items
Any help is much appreciated ill edit this as suggestions come in.
Edit: Played in birds eye view full length/non chibi characters
I remember a game my father had for the PS2 when I was younger, it was a hack-and-slash game with tons of enemies (similar to Dynasty Warriors) and proved to be rather difficult for him to beat. I remember specifically a desert or beach themed level with a large platform in the middle where you would fight skeleton/reaper enemies. The game may have had a sequel, I remember the background for the box art was white and had the main character on the front, possibly looking back towards the camera. I cannot remember the box art for the first game, nor if they were actually from the same franchise, but I do remember being convinced that they were. Some key points that I /definitely/ remember are the difficulty of the game, the desert level, and the reaper enemies in said level.
As the title states. I really like hack and slash type games. I currently have an Xbox 360 and a PS3. I really enjoyed Kingdoms of Amalur: Reckoning, Fable, Fable II, The Skylander series and some of the Lego games. I really have a hard time with complicated controls. I tried to play Final Fantasy VII? I just could not get the hang of all the complicated steps. I really enjoy video games, preferably D&D type games or something similar. Any suggestions would be appreciated
I really held out on buying a Switch. I thought... "I want to see if they truely expand the library and its not just gonna go stagnant" but boy am I happy I did it now.
Bayonetta 1 & 2 come at a deal where you buy one, the other's price is automatically reduced so they both cost β¬60 together.
Bayonetta 1 is a game that cares about one thing. Fun. The plot is a swiss cheese of holes and the in-universe logic doesnt exist beyond whats needed to create Fun. Fun jokes, Fun gameplay, Fun music, the lot of it! Youre literally playing a 7ft stripper with guns strapped to each limb, spanking angels while listening to disco-hyper music. The story is not out-standing, but its just enough to be interesting and it satisfied my need to be invested in a plot to enjoy a game. The game starts with a fight on the wing of an airplane thats currently crashing through the streets, and ups the cheese from there on. If you like boss fights, theyre the highlight of this game that is already nothing but highlights.
This game took my depressed ass out of reality while no other game could. Not even the most immersive experiences like Skyrim, Breath of the Wild, Witcher 3, Journey, etc, could get my mind off reality, but Bayonetta's aloof, sarcastic, unrelenting absolute power persona did.
The best part is the game has depth. The game gives you two things in spades: resources and challenges. You have hundreds, yes hundreds of possible moves with dozens of different weapons and artifact comboes you can costumize to completely change your playstyle. On hardest difficulty, the game demands you squeeze out as much value from resources with as much skill as you can build up to get a perfect score. Yet it even has an easy mode that has the game playing itself as you button mash!
Bayonetta 2 is the same game again with everything improved. What a fucking love letter to previous fans. Ive never seen a sequel literallyD take a masterpiece game, and just repeat it with fixes for all the stuff people didnt like. Thats what a sequel should be.
Bayonetta 2 is the only game I ever played more than once. I usually get so bored, sometimes I dont even finish games! But this game was so Fun, I just had to perfect score it.
The only reason I could see someone not enjoying these games is if they dislike the edgy, the macabre, and the sexual to the point where you cannot even humor yourself with these subjects. I dont judge, to each his own!
I am so excited for the even
... keep reading on reddit β‘Hey everyone!
As everyone is talking about Diablo 4 and the things we want I had started thinking about some of the things that I want to see in Diablo 4. No! Don't leave! Come back! This isn't going to be one of those posts. I promise.
Does Diablo 3 feel like an RPG to you? I feel like it took out the RPG out of Hack and Slash.
When comparing it to the other Diablo games, you had the ability to set attributes. I recognize that in D2, this was pretty much, did you mess up or not.
Question 2. Do you think that Diablo needs to be an RPG?
Hey folks, going to run my second Dungeon World campaign.
I ran my first several years ago and have watched a ton of playcasts of Band of Blades which is a Forged in the Dark system which is an offshoot of the apocalypse world for those that don't know.
What i find that i really like in FitD system is the concept of scale in regards to combat and other actions. Handling scale and effect are built into the system seamlessly. Essentially your actions have less effect than they normally would if you don't have comparable scale to the situation.
As an example, a Fighter (human) taking on a massive Earth Elemental (say huge or gargantuan) in DnD terms. In FitD system it accounts for the fact that the smallish human will have a harder time taking on the massive earth elemental and the system handles it by giving less effect.
In Dungeon World, has anybody experimented with this? For the same example in Dungeon World, the Fighter would just Hack and Slash. Do you guys implement penalties or other such things to account for difficulty and scale?
There was an interview of riot world CEO on the french channel Ogamingtvlol, i don't have access to the replay because you need to be subscribed but the CEO answered to the question, are you making a MMORPG by something like :
We haven't announced a MMORPG but we haven't say we aren't developping one.
This is still not a total confirmation but as a french speaker i can tell you the way he said it makes me prettt sure they are making one even if it's likely in very early developpement.
He also stated that the ARPG that was shown in the trailer was a cooperative PVE game but he also stated that it's a game made by riot so it will have challenge, he said that riot doesn't make casual games. (Even if you can play lol casually ofc)
Lastly it's not mentionned by the title but he told that they aren't entitled to the f2p monetization and that some of their new games may have a different model based on what's the best
For better context I'm looking for hack and slash and hopefully anime type hack and slash / beat em up.
I'm playing salt and sanctuary right now and have nothing else after I beat this game lol
Seriously though, why.
Its always the same few people who feel the need to spam chat with racist and homophobic slurs. Hurr durr "its just a word why are you getting so mad?". OK. if its just a word, try going into a majority black neighborhood and yelling that shit. Then report back. /endrant
Looking for games like Diablo , torchlight and Path of exiles, titan quest. What are some other good ones out there?
I love the scythe in DmC but hated that it was limited in use. What are some other games with a scythe for melee?
Edit: on pc
So i have come to a halt with games and have been in a slump for a while now. So here is the issue. I have played diablo 2 for YEARS and it has been my favorite game for a bit but recently over the past 2-3 years I have kind of just fell out of it. I played path of exile for over 1k hours and Diablo 3 on the ps4 more then I'd like to admit. So here is what I'm looking for. Something of the isometric style of Diablo/path of exile, f2p if possible I am open to suggestions but I like those styles best. I have out in hours into neverwinter, gw2 and trove as well and been around the block with a few other f2p mmorpgs. I have considered getting d3 for the pc but yet again f2p would be best.
I've recently gotten into Diablo 3 and I was hoping to play some more games like it on my One X.
I didn't like Chaosbane or Torchlight 2, tbh. I'm looking forward to Grim Dawn coming to Xbox One, but I'd love some suggestions for the meantime
A little late thanks to some technical difficulties but here and ready to go.
If I can't answer something, I'll let you know why, and potentially give you instead something else to read, like a cute story about one of my cats.
EDIT Thanks for having me, all! I'm very grateful that so many cool folk read my books. EUTHANAUTS #1 is out in July, it'll be in PREVIEW soon, with amazing art by Nick Robles, so keep your eyes peeled! Thanks!
Are there any good PC games with hack and slash type sword fighting that aren't extremely gory? I have nothing against people who like that type of gore, but I would prefer something that doesn't get any worse than say Halo or Uncharted in terms of blood.
EDIT: I ended up getting Jedi Academy, and Blades of Time and RWBY went on my wishlist. Thanks.
I am looking for recommendation, for games that are something like i still play or even finished: Diablo, Torchlight, Victor Vran, Bastion, Hades, Grim Dawn, Titan Quest, The Incredible Adventures of Van Helsing, Path of Exile, Guild Wars.
I recently bought a new PC, so I'm finally able to actually play anything else other than early 2000's games. I tried PoE and D3, both are fine gameplay wise, but the graphics are a turn off.
Also currently playing [Bladebound] on mobile, really like the graphics, but the energy system sucks.
tl;dr:
Looking for something like Darksouls "for beginners" kinda I think.
It's the weekly game night in Chaldea! And this week's theme is: Hack-and-slash(Metal Gear Rising, Devil May Cry, Bayonetta, Ninja Gaiden, etc.)
Who is/are the participating servant(s)? And how does your night go?
>!As usual, Mashu must participate in some capacity, whether as a player, or a spectator.!<
A combination of Diablo 3 + Witcher 3 + Dark Souls 3.
You pick weapons from melee to ranged bows/crossbows or magic, third person up close camera, thousands of demons/mobs to kill easily like in D3 where you can basically one shot everything but you move freely from keys, not from the mouse and the camera is up close in a 3rd person perspective and the combat is not tab targeted or click targeted but free cast sort off like in Skyrim/Overwatch (think Hanzo for bows, Skyrim for Magic, Mordhau/Witcher for melee) and you also get skills that upgrade your auto attacks and give you bonus abilities and ultimates, you level up and improve your gear and skills similar to D3's loot and leveling system, and get to TP across acts and zones and it has CO-OP too. Maybe Destiny 2 or Warframe come close but they are more SF Loot Shooters, I'm thinking of a magic medieval style 3rd person action looter.
I never really blade these types of games growing up(more FPS/platformers) and I just canβt get the feeling for it.I get greedy on enemy patterns and canβt seem to train myself.Case and point Iβm playing Hellblade and dying more than I probably should.
I'm looking for a 3rd Person Hack And Slash Game that I once played the demo for on PC after downloading it on CNET...
This was around the late 90s or early 2000s...
The demo had 3 characters you could pick; a buff warrior guy with an axe, a female with daggers, and a wizard guy who had a staff which shot long range projectiles.
3d graphics, it looked sorta like this: https://archive.org/download/h2_demo_us/h2_demo_us.jpg
The demo was you going around a dungeon (?) and fighting goblin type creatures or something.
Are there any PS3 games like the ones in the title? I'm particularly interested in the ones with more than 2 players, if they exist.
Hello! I'm looking for a somewhat specific kind of MUD, and though I've browsed around I haven't had a whole lot of luck. Maybe your own fits the bill? I don't have too many requirements.
I don't really have any preferences as to setting or even population, as I'm planning to just play with a friend of mine. That said, the more people, the better! That's all I can think of, feel free to suggest your own or any you've come across that might fit the bill!
EDIT: Forgot to include it in the original post, but I'd prefer a focus on PvE, or at least opt-out PvP - not particularly a fan of it.
Only console I know it was on I'd ps2 I didnt play very much of the game but the first level had a similar art style to mission 18 of dmc 3 with the color of the map mostly being white and black, and you'd kill hordes of demon like creatures sorry I know it's not alot of info any help is appreciated though
I'm putting the final touches on my indie game Arcane Domains.
I thought it would be cool to have a fantasy game where most player abilities are unlocked at the start of the game, since most people don't get the cool spells until the last few hours of game-play. Who wants to play for hours before they get to do the cool stuff?
The game is completely playable in split screen co-op, I would like some strangers to run through it and give me some comments or last minute suggestions before I release it.
Leave a comment if interested and I'll send you a message for a pre-release code. You need to have two controllers, and Steam!
