A list of puns related to "Genistein"
I suck at chemistry notation, so, please forgive me if this actually fails to make sense, but, while researching flavonoids in soy, I stumbled into the following and to me the it looks like a weirdass database error caused by automatic parsing & database automation gone awry:
https://pubchem.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/compound/5281757 = https://www.surechembl.org/chemical/SCHEMBL15241300 = 5,7-dihydroxy-3-(4-hydroxyphenyl)-8-[(2S,3R,4R,5S,6R)-3,4,5-trihydroxy-6-(hydroxymethyl)oxan-2-yl]-4H-chromen-4-one = 'Genistein-8-C-glucoside'

https://pubchem.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/compound/44257270 = https://www.surechembl.org/chemical/SCHEMBL4743882 = 5,7-dihydroxy-3-(4-hydroxyphenyl)-8-[(2S,4R,5S)-3,4,5-trihydroxy-6-(hydroxymethyl)oxan-2-yl]chromen-4-one = 'Genistein-8-C-glucoside'
Related compounds: https://www.surechembl.org/search/results/5c0cc21874a61589d44a9f06a911d983/
And what seems even worse:
5,7-dihydroxy-3-(4-hydroxyphenyl)-8-[(2S,3R,4R,5S,6R)-3,4,5-trihydroxy-6-(hydroxymethyl)tetrahydropyran-2-yl]chromen-4-one = https://pubchem.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/compound/89814329 = https://www.surechembl.org/chemical/SCHEMBL15270574 = 5,7-dihydroxy-3-(4-hydroxyphenyl)-8-[ (3R,4R,5S,6R)-3,4,5-trihydroxy-6-(hydroxymethyl)oxan-2-yl]**-4H-**chromen-4-one = 'Genistein-8-C-glucoside'
Which has a link to https://www.wikidata.org/wiki/Q27106711, which just calls it 'genistein 8-C-glucoside'.

I wouldn't see this as much of an issue, if it weren't for the facts of:
All of these seem to share an origin from this patent, except for the last one:

I've seen database errors mislead researchers who do a literature research before, and this seems like a prime candidate for maximum confusion. HOWEVER, due to my rather very shitty chemistr
... keep reading on reddit β‘I want to make a spritz with 1% genistein and understand that soluability is difficult with this active. My skin is intolerant of alcohol. I have read it can be dissolved in glycerine. Is this the case? This would be my preferred medium but I understand that PG is another option. Any recommendations would be much appreciated.
Hello!
Last week I suggested to my doctor that the reason for my new dx of anemia (hemoglobin = 7.9, iron level = 12, more numbers if you need them) might be an osteoporosis supplement I am taking that contains genistein. I told her that I read online that it was an iron blocker, and I think it might be the culprit (urinalysis and fecal occult were both negative and I am post-menopausal). She agreed with my guess and I stopped taking the supplement. BUT, taking that supplement for two years coincided with eliminating dx of osteoporosis on my last bone scan. So after giving it more thought, I am very reluctant to stop taking it forever.
I don't know if there is anyone here who can decipher the abstracts on genistein and iron, but I sure would appreciate any thoughts you might have on the question. Did I read them right, that genistein blocks iron? Thanks!

Go post NSFW jokes somewhere else. If I can't tell my kids this joke, then it is not a DAD JOKE.
If you feel it's appropriate to share NSFW jokes with your kids, that's on you. But a real, true dad joke should work for anyone's kid.
Mods... If you exist... Please, stop this madness. Rule #6 should simply not allow NSFW or (wtf) NSFL tags. Also, remember that MINORS browse this subreddit too? Why put that in rule #6, then allow NSFW???
Please consider changing rule #6. I love this sub, but the recent influx of NSFW tagged posts that get all the upvotes, just seem wrong when there are good solid DAD jokes being overlooked because of them.
Thank you,
A Dad.
So far nobody has given me a straight answer
..... Will get a reward.
Because they work on many levels
Well, toucan play at that game.
