Breaking the backs of shit like Rathalos and Rathian has always sucked basically. It's never been "just aim for the part," because it's fucking 20 feet above you. If you even do manage to get above it and do an air attack, you're likely to hit the wings. Hitting the stomach sorts works but it's just too inconsistent in most cases.
Now, at least since mh4 you've been able to mount to do some damage to the back. Usually this wasn't really that great unless you played Insect Glaive or Aerial style, but it was a bit of a help. In World, you could mount monsters as usually, and you could even just get them to ram their backs into a wall to break them.
However, now that mounting has been replaced by riding, there is no "trick," to this. Now you might be saying "just use the wirebug to get in the air and use an air attack 4head," but the issue with hitting the wings remains. Not to mention, these monsters also fly frequently, meaning getting above their backs is a struggle to begin with.
The worst part of all is that their backs always have like a 30 hitzone, meaning even if you DO manage to hit them, you'll need to do it another 20 times if you want it to break.
Totally not just salty that I can't get any Rath Medulla...

I've looked at the mirror plenty of time and done the exercise in front of it, literally nothing is different from what I see but it still happens and idk why. Any explanations or how to fix it?
