A source close to director Farhan Akhtar says, “It is tough casting the male leads when the female leads are already in place. All the top actors assume the women have meaty roles while the men are mere shadows. Lekin aisa nahin hai. The men in Jee Le Zaraa have very important roles to play. Lekin abb inko kaun samjhaye (who is going to explain to them?).”
Apparently, Farhan wants three male superstars to be paired his trio of super-ladies. He may end up casting himself as one of the leads to set an example for other top-notch leading men who are wary of being seen in the company of assertive women.

Actor-director-producer Farhan Akhtar and VJ Shibani Dandekar, who have been dating for over three years, are all set to tie the wedding knot in the next few days.
Earlier, media reports had claimed that the couple was planning to get married in March 2022. But now, the latest is that Farhan and Shibani have preponed their wedding and will now exchange vows on January 9, Farhan’s birthday. The actor-director will celebrate his 48th birthday this year.
The couple will get married in the presence of family and friends in an intimate wedding ceremony. The preparations for the wedding ceremony have already started, for the date of the marriage has been preponed.
The couple has finalised their wedding day outfits. However, nothing regarding their marriage has been confirmed yet.

A horrific incident had left everyone shocked in the year 2019 when a girl from Hyderabad was brutally gang-raped and then set on fire by four men near a toll plaza. At that time, many protests, candle marches were held and many celebrities from Bollywood, Tollywood and other film industries raised their voices demanding justice. However, some of these celebrities revealed the name of the victim on social media, and now that has landed them into legal trouble. According to reports, a case has been filed against 38 Indian celebrities from Bollywood and Tollywood including Akshay Kumar, Ajay Devgn, Salman Khan, Rakul Preet Singh, Anupam Kher, Farhan Akhtar, Maharaja Ravi Teja, Allu Sirish, Charmme Kaur, among others for revealing the identity of the victim on social media. The case has been filed by a Delhi-based lawyer by the name of Gaurav Gulati under section 228 of the Indian Penal Code in Sabzi Mandi Police Station. He also filed a petition in Tis Hazari court. Gulati in his complaint mentioned that rather than setting an example for others, Indian celebrities of such stature forgot their moral ethics and revealed the real name of the victim without any social responsibility. According to law, it is unethical to use the real name of rape victims in media or any public platform. Therefore, Gulati has requested for immediate arrest of the celebrities named by him as they failed to maintain the privacy of the victim and showed no social responsibility.
Soon after the Indian men's hockey team won a bronze medal at the Tokyo Olympics, several Bollywood celebs sent congratulatory messages to Team India on social media. Farhan Akhtar too posted a message. But, instead of the men’s team, he praised the Indian women's team.

Indian filmmaker, singer and actor Farhan Akhtar is returning to direction after a decade with feature film “Jee Le Zaraa,” starring Bollywood A-listers Priyanka Chopra Jonas, Katrina Kaif and Alia Bhatt.
The film is due to start shooting in Sept. 2022. “It’s a road film, a slice-of-life film, with three women on the road,” Akhtar tells Variety. The film is written by Farhan Akhtar, Zoya Akhtar and Reema Kagti and co-produced by Tiger Baby Productions.
Akhtar and his business partner Ritesh Sidhwani run Excel Entertainment, one of India’s most successful production houses, which turns 20 on Tuesday.
Excel is currently celebrating the success of Rakeysh Omprakash Mehra’s boxing drama “Toofaan,” starring Akhtar, streaming on Amazon Prime Video, and has a robust slate lined up. Besides “Jee Le Zaraa,” the feature film slate includes action crime thriller “Yudhra,” directed by Ravi Udyawar (“Mom”), starring Siddhant Chaturvedi (“Gully Boy”) and Malavika Mohanan (“Master”), which starts shooting in Portugal Sept. 5; adventure drama “Pukar” by Ashutosh Gowariker (“Lagaan”), which kicks off in November; while Mrigdeep Singh Lamba will commence the third part of the “Fukrey” comedy franchise in Jan. 2022.
In the streaming space, Excel, which already has a successful relationship with Amazon, has two shows with Netflix lined up. “Eternally Confused And Eager For Love” is in the teen romance space, while “Queen of the Hill” is led by two women protagonists. For Amazon, Reema Kagti’s “Fallen,” starring Sonakshi Sinha (“Mission Mangal”) as a police officer, is in post, the second season of International Emmy nominated drama “Made in Heaven” is in the works as is the third season of cricket themed “Inside Edge,” which is also Emmy nominated. The third season of hinterland crime drama “Mirzapur” is also in the making. “Dongri to Dubai,” the series adaptation of S. Hussain Zaidi’s Mumbai mafia book of the same name, directed by Shujaat Saudagar (“Rock on 2”) is 50% shot.
Excel’s first film was Akhtar’s directorial debut “Dil Chahta Hai,” which released Aug. 10, 2001. The film is about three friends reuniting and the formation of Excel mirrored that somewhat. Akhtar had put in a stint as an assistant director and was working in advertising and his schoolmate Sidhwani, with whom he’d lost touch with, was involved in his family home appliances business. Akhtar was looking for a producer for his script and a mutual friend informed him Sidhwani was keen to join the film
