A list of puns related to "Daryl Gates"
Listening to βThis Day in Historyβ and Howard is saying βniggerβ every. other. word.
Surprised theyβre playing this in light of Howard having forcefully denied saying βniggerβ himself when he was on βThe View.β
Seeing how it's the 25th anniversary of the LA Riots, and after a long search, I was finally able to purchase the poster off of a collector. This poster was created by street artist Robbie Conal as a direct result of the Rodney King beating. If you grew up in LA in the late 80s or early 90s you will remember his posters around LA similar to Shep Fairey.

For those who do not remember, or are too young, Daryl Gates was the LAPD Chief from 78 to 92. He is (in)famous for, among other things, creating SWAT, the D.A.R.E. program, Special Order 40 (kudos), C.R.A.S.H. team which was depicted in the movie Colors by Sean Penn and Robert Duval's characters. He was also personal driver and later in his career assistant to LAPD Chief William Parker.
This poster attributes a quote by Gates during testimony before the Senate Judiciary Committee that infrequent or casual drug users "ought to be taken out and shot" because "we're in a war" and even casual drug use is "treason". He later said the testimony was calculated hyperbole roll eyes.
TL;DR: Scored a poster of a quote from an infamous and dickish LAPD Chief
I posted this in r/Mormon but there's a bigger crowd here.
I just watched LA 92, a new documentary on the riots. After reading about Gates online, I saw he was supposedly raised Mormon by his mother. Not that it particularly matters, but does anyone know if he remained Mormon throughout his life? Seems like he was very influential and controversial throughout his tenure. He created the DARE program, which I did in school (I was in 3rd grade during the riots).
Since Mormons LOVE to pimp their notable members (see famousmormons.net), I guess I would have heard about him before.
Hello voyagers, I'm seeking a video, or the audio, of this legendary chatter. I would be very grateful for any leads!
I've heard him reference it before (Taxonomy of Illusion around the 1:10:00 mark), but I can't find any trasncripts or videos.

I don't want to step on anybody's toes here, but the amount of non-dad jokes here in this subreddit really annoys me. First of all, dad jokes CAN be NSFW, it clearly says so in the sub rules. Secondly, it doesn't automatically make it a dad joke if it's from a conversation between you and your child. Most importantly, the jokes that your CHILDREN tell YOU are not dad jokes. The point of a dad joke is that it's so cheesy only a dad who's trying to be funny would make such a joke. That's it. They are stupid plays on words, lame puns and so on. There has to be a clever pun or wordplay for it to be considered a dad joke.
Again, to all the fellow dads, I apologise if I'm sounding too harsh. But I just needed to get it off my chest.
My brother and I were discussing all the wasted draft picks, trades, and front office moves since Embiid was drafted in 2014. We also properly assigned blame and were amazed at what a long list we were able to put together.
2015 draft Jahlil Okafor selected #3 overall. Tough draft to get real value, but still, he was a top 3 pick and is now not on any NBA team. This was Hinkie's last draft and probably wanted D'Angelo Russell, who was taken #2 overall.
2016 draft Ben Simmons selected #1 overall - Colangelo's baby, currently not playing for the Sixers' citing mental health reasons.
2017 draft Markelle Fultz selected #1 overall - Colangelo's new baby, who traded a #3 overall pick and what turned into our 2019 first-round pick (14th overall) to draft him. Celtics picked Tatum at #3 in case you needed that reminder.
2018 draft Mikal Bridges is selected #10 overall. Colangelo is now gone for burner gate, Brett Brown is in charge, and makes a slam dunk draft pick. A Philly guy whose mother literally works for the organization. An hour passes, and Brett Brown accepts a trade from the Suns to swap Bridges for Zhaire Smith and a draft pick. Bridges recently signed a 4-year $90 million contract with the Suns.
2018 Elton Brand is now in charge, and trades for Jimmy Butler. We lose starters Covington and Saric, but finally, acquire a co-star who compliments Embiid. Elton makes it clear we are going to offer Jimmy a max extension during the 2019 offseason. Turns out, however, that head coach Brett Brown and Jimmy did not like each other, at all, and a nameless idiot in the Sixers' front office questioned whether or not Jimmy could be "controlled" (like Jimmy is AB or something?) to which Jimmy said, I'm out.
Also during that 2018-2019 season, the Sixers' were still struggling after the Butler trade. In the middle of the night, Brand traded two assets for Tobias Harris. That offseason, Elton made the very safe move to retain Harris, giving him a 5-year max contract extension.
That same offseason, Elton Brand signed free agent center Al Horford to a 4-year $109 million deal. They tried playing him alongside Embiid in the same lineup until things went so poorly he became the richest bench player in the league. I remember thinking "maybe this lineup will work well in the playoffs". The Sixers got swept by Horford's old team, the Celtics, in the first round.
Daryl Morey then comes in and is able to stop the bleeding (and then some!). Gets rid of Horford's awf

I'm surprised it hasn't decade.
Don't you know a good pun is its own reword?
Two muffins are in an oven, one muffin looks at the other and says "is it just me, or is it hot in here?"
Then the other muffin says "AHH, TALKING MUFFIN!!!"
For context I'm a Refuse Driver (Garbage man) & today I was on food waste. After I'd tipped I was checking the wagon for any defects when I spotted a lone pea balanced on the lifts.
I said "hey look, an escaPEA"
No one near me but it didn't half make me laugh for a good hour or so!
Edit: I can't believe how much this has blown up. Thank you everyone I've had a blast reading through the replies π
It really does, I swear!
If a real remaster comes out in the future, for a definitive version i'd like the following:
-psx cgi scenes
-gba extras
-snes fan bugfixes
-octopath esque grahipics but vectored sprites instead of pixelated with exvious styled detail or better
-all snes menu options and multiplayer
-animated enemies
-ability to purchase chocobo and imp as playable characters in the auctionhouse with his own story additions ingame in wor. His equip would consist of everything he can equip in chocobos dungeon 2 psx
-further Gogo's story
-complete Shadow's dream sequence
-extend Setzer's story with the search for Daryl even if he still doesnt find her.
-extend the story of the esper gate and make it fully playable (maybe as separate game dlc prequel) with Maduin and other espers as playable characters.
-as chars escape kefkas tower after defeat of God Kefka, he transforms more and goes after your airship with the chars you left in the ship having to defend it before the rest of the party arrives (happens if completion is 100 percent before kefka's defeat)
-explain the connection between ultros and kefka considering they speak and dress alike
-dlc story depicting Sigfried's journey. Add extra content finishing his involvement ingame. He was just forgotten about initially.
-the break system from ffxiii so that you cant just press x to win anymore. would force the player to utilize the magic in strategic ways.
What would you like to happen if it was remastered properly?
Hey guys!
Sorry for any delay on this, was vacationing the past week so I was off the grid when all these cards came out. A brief overview, we have a few great cards, a few good ones, a new budget beast TE that will release today, and a FB that you'll never take out of your lineup.
