A list of puns related to "Consumer protection"
Update based on comments request: Name of the bakery is Foundry Bakery in Maryland Heights, St. Louis
TLDR: Wrote a 3/5 star Yelp review for a popular St. Louis bakery, complimenting some of their goods but expressing not liking a drink based on takeout experience. The bakery owner took to both Instagram and Yelp to blast me tirades about my tastebud issues and not leaving a tip for the takeout, and publicly shamed me by posting my full name which he got from my credit card. This is the first time I've encountered such experience, in 10+ years of writing business reviews and sharing food/service related recommendations with my network. Writing here for consumers' awareness, since there is a significant consumer review community throughout Missouri as well, and not much protection if you encounter similar conduct from businesses.

I was overcharged by Vianet and they outright refused to refund the money. Is there any easy way to handle such situation. For Rs 160 I can't go to court and it would be inane. I tried to call esewa today but they don't seem to care.
So what is the wise move. I can forget that 160 but I don't know why I feel so exasperated :(

Surprised to not see anything about this on here yet, but the whole sector took beating today because the Consumer Financial Protection Bureau announced it is investing the buy now pay later sector, more specially, Affirm, Afterpay, Klarna, PayPal and Zip.
>The Consumer Financial Protection Bureau said Thursday it is opening an inquiry into popular βbuy now, pay laterβ programs.
>The financial watchdog said it is particularly concerned about how BNPL impacts consumer debt accumulation, as well as what consumer protection laws apply and how the payment providers harvest data.
>βBuy now, pay later is the new version of the old layaway plan, but with modern, faster twists where the consumer gets the product immediately but gets the debt immediately, too,β CFPB Director Rohit Chopra said in a statement.

Are people buying the dip or are you waiting to see what comes from this? Personally I own Visa and Mastercard and have been weary of the whole BNPL sector.

Regarding this post:
https://blog.ufcstrike.com/posts/ufc-strike-fully-loaded-pack-update
This website was selling packs of NFT's, each pack contained 3 NFT's with a 0.375% chance of one being a "champion" or more rare nft.
Their announcement includes this statement
>For additional context: we utilized a new technology to assemble & distribute the packs in an effort to provide a smoother experience to our collectors and new UFC fans. After the drop, we discovered that the new tool did not work as intended, and did not properly include the expected amount of Champion Tier Moments in the packs just sold.
They are now offering this as a "I'm sorry" is this
>The good news is that we have solved the problem and are taking the following measures:
>
>For each pack purchased that did not contain a Champion Tier Moment, you will receive an airdrop of a randomized UFC Strike Moment by January 31st, which will be packed from a pool of Moments that will include a total of 348 Champion Tier Moments, with the rest being from our Contender Tier. This will return the odds to what was contained in the pack description at the time of sale. For each pack purchased that did contain a Champion Tier Moment, you will receive an airdrop of a randomized Contender Tier UFC Strike Moment by January 31st.Β Β Β
>
>As a thank you for joining our first-ever Pack drop launches, we will also be issuing a $50 Dapper Credit for each UFC Strike pack purchased to your Dapper Account. Youβll be able to use that credit for future Marketplace and Pack purchases ββ consider this a head start on the next generation of UFC fandom. Credit will be delivered to your Dapper Balance by January 27th. Expect more updates to come shortly on the opening of the UFC Strike marketplace.
The "Credit" they give back is not withdrawable- meaning it can only be used on their platform.
Is this legal? Can they really advertise something- with written out odds of prizes, but then announce they were wrong, then give you credit back and not your fungible money?
I was trying to look up "Loot Box Laws" but i could only find news articles from like 2 years ago, I don't know where or how to look into specific consumer laws. I'm not even really sure if "loot box laws" would be relevant
Anyone else in the DSM metro getting letters from Neil Timmins asking to purchase your home? I got one and extremely frustrated that an investor/realtor would go as far as send a letter with a photo of your home requesting to purchase. Considering itβs a local company, are there any consumer protection laws against these types of solicitations? Itβs creepy and very intrusive! TIA
Good evening people of the Netherlands,
I'm having a bit of a difficult situation with my landlord and housemates. So this is the situation: I'm a university student currently living in a shared house in Haarlem. It's a house with 4 (including me) young people living together and each of us have our own rooms, but we have to share the kitchen and the bathroom. Unfortunately, 2 of my housemates are making my life a living hell, not cleaning after themselves, leaving their feces and food everywhere, destroying the shower, windows and doors all the time. The landlord has told me that they cannot kick them out because they would have to take them to court and that would take more than a year and because of this reason, they have stopped talking to those housemates and now they get away with everything until their contract is over. I do not have the financial means to find another accommodation to get out of here, and my university is not helping me either. Mentally I have reached my limit and it really affects my studies. Is there any sort of consumer/tenant protection that I could contact? Maybe they would have some suggestions/solutions for me? Or does any of you fellow Redditors have any idea what I could do? I hope I'm not sounding too pathetic, but this has been going since October, and I really don't know what I can do anymore. I just want to live one day without stress and fear.
Thank you for reading this!
Hey all,
I noticed in the past few years more and more online retailers started adding these insurance product they add automatically to your cart that supposedly covers loss, theft and damage.
Besides the annoyance of having to catch these sneaky charges off my cart before proceeding with the purchase, what really stood out to me was when one goes ahead to de-select the insurance product it will show captions that says along the lines of: "Such-and-such retailer will not be liable for shipment theft, loss or damage when this insurance is not added." The whole thing sounds very predatory and there has to be some consumer protection laws in Canada or even on the provincial level that protects consumers from situations like thisβcertainly with how often things like that do occur.
So please tell me, are consumers really on the hook by not purchasing these so called insurances every time we make a purchase online? Or is this one of those schemes that's betting on said consumers not doing their research and being feared into paying a few more dollars for a rightful protection they already have through the laws?"
Thank you

File a Consumer Complaint
The state attorney general is your best bet for filing a complaint against a business based in the state and against outside companies that do business in that state. Be prepared to complete a form that asks for the companyβs full contact information and a summary of your complaint. I can draft something up for apes to modify and make it their own, if requested.
On a national level, you have the option to file an FTC complaint. Federal Trade Commission complaints can be filed online.
https://www.ftc.gov/faq/consumer-protection/submit-consumer-complaint-ftc
File a BBB Complaint
As a consumer of a business, you can file a complaint against a bad business by contacting your local Better Business Bureau. The BBB sends your complaint to the business and asks for a response within 14 dsys. Your complaint may be publicly filed on the BBB's website.
Search for Apex/Ally/Broker by doing a better business bureau search on their website. If the company is a member of the BBB, it is required to respond to all better business bureau complaints so it doesn't lose its accreditation. Other companies are not required to respond, but many do so when they consider that a complaint could become available for everyone to read online.

Get the LOCAL Media Involved
Some LOCAL television/online news stations host shows designed to help consumers having problems with a business.
Any airtime is good airtime to help bring light to these corrupt business practices. If you are able to get airtime, I'd recommend consulting with a lawyer prior.
If you feel like Apex, Ally and others players are not acting ethically, please consider filing complaints and let's hodl them accountable.
Buy. Hodl. DRS if you want.

Hi,
I have AT&T cell phone service and am considering switching to Consumer Cellular to save $74 a month to get a better plan. However I'm concerned that protection against SIM card swapping may be worse with CC than it is with AT&T. It's not that I think AT&T is so great, but they do provide an optional PIN code set by the customer that's supposed to be required before doing anything that is significant with the account. They also require a different temporary PIN they generate for port out operations. CC doesn't have these as far as I can tell. Thoughts?
Thanks,
Mike

I was just wondering if there is something similar to a lemon law per se for a $5000 furnace. An authorized Lennox dealer installed a furnace that has had similar issues (random rev patterns and shutdowns) since installed in 2012. Parts/labour were warranted so long as we paid them to maintain it annually. We have paperwork proving that, along with warranty repairs made on four different occasions. Though paperwork doesnβt reflect the several times weβve had to call them in for repairs.
They have not been able to accurately explain what is happening. They also seem quite unclear themselves as to why it is acting up and are just trying speculative repairs. Meanwhile Iβve been trying again and again to emphasize that they are neglecting whatever the core issue is. Their response this entire time is βrelax you have warrantyβ. Although I acknowledge the attention given, beyond our warranty, it seems we are about to be left with a very expensive boulder in our basement. The impression I get from them is that they may just be waiting us out.
Iβm just wondering if further action is possible. If it is at all worth it to hire a lawyer, something Im sad to say I am strongly considering, Iβm all ears.
Thanks ahead.
I'm getting ripped off by a car dealer in Virginia and was wondering if there is any free help in MoCo?
Thank you!
Hello,
I'm trying to get a refund from a subscription I signed up for yesterday. I requested the refund like an hour after signing up and there was no notice about waiving my right to a refund anywhere so that shouldn't be an issue and the company is based in Belgium so EU law should apply.
They have given me a 75% refund and claim that their refund policy makes it so they can't give me the full refund. Can a refund policy really override the right to a full refund within 14 days?
Thanks
Edit: This was their response so far: "You were eligible for the maximum (prorated) refund within 14 days and I issued it to you.Β "
The crooks over at Sun & Sand Sports have been postponing picking up my return request for more than 2 months, have removed their customer service phone number, their chat and email agents have kept on saying βwe are investigating the issue and are doing our best to resolve this issueβ (despite me even offering to bring the item myself)β¦all a scam to hold on to my money as long as possible while they try to find another buyer (I think).
Complained to DED, next day an agent called me to reconfirm the issue, said sheβd called Sun & Sand Sports next and if required would call me back.
Same day an Aramex courier came to pick up the item and within 5 minutes the refund was processed (they didnβt even wait for the item to reach them).
This is amazing. I donβt know of such a service in any other country or city.
Next time youβre getting screwed, give the vendor one last warning and if they donβt cooperate, donβt think about it and just complain to DED.
I am doing some spring cleaning and have some original packaging for some items that I might toss. The only reason I am keeping this packaging is because I don't want any hassles if the item needs to be returned due to a fault while its still under warranty. Once the warranty is up I usually toss the boxes.
So this brings us to the question - would the warranty be void or the product not accepted if it is not returned in the original packaging?
