A 14 year old girl went to hospital with a kidney infection and doctors found this kidney stone pencil. She stuck the pencil up her urethra and into her bladder which caused a stone to form around the pencil.

I think my kidney stone is attempting to leave the bladder but won't pass. When I pee it leaves an odd sensation along the urethra for a while. Is this the stone or a UTI?

Follow up question, has anyone experienced a PGAD like state when they have a stone near the urethra?

Anyone have a cat with Bladder Crystals / Stones

Hi cat friends, my cat Pookie has racked up some SERIOUS vet bills in the past week ($8,000+) because of complications w/ bladder crystals and he is in need of surgery to reverse it. My vet told me this was common for male cats, so I'm curious-- has this happened to anyone else, and what worked? Was the surgery worth it? How did you treat your kitty at home?

Thanks in advance!!!

Gall bladder, gall stones

F36: start weight 122kg (bmi 43,2); current weight 116kg (bmi 41,1); goal for now: 99kg (bmi 35,1); healthy weight: 70kg (bmi 24,8)

Any body else experiencing gall bladder problems? It started with me two years ago with a horrible pain attack in the mid night. I thought I was dying. But it was only small gallstones and one probably passed my gall bladder exit that night. Echo showed no big stones and so no treatment.

Doctor advices me to take the loosing weight slowly. So I did. In the meantime I got pregnant, have a beautiful baby and when he was 6months I started weight loss again. One pound every two weeks. Lost 6kg since Christmas 2020. So I am going slow but steadily.

In the past years I had three other gall stone attacks. I recognize them now, take pain pills and sit is out. It is normally 4 hours and then the pain is gone.

But now I have pain since sunday. It stays. Doctor thinks it is an inflammation. I need to do bloodwork and go see the surgeon in hospital.

First reason for gall bladder problems is loosing weight too fast and eating fat food. I don’t do the last at the moment. So I feel very bummed and discouraged by this.

Anybody who can give me advice or has some comforting words to share?

How do I know when the stone has moved to my bladder?

Hello. I had terrible pain in (what turned out to be) my right kidney for a week or so. Went to the ER, CAT Scan showed a kidney stone. They gave me five days of Tamsulosin (Flomax), which I believe was intended to help the stone move through my system. I've taken the five days worth. I don't have PAIN in my right kidney, but there feels like there's a ....tinge? So my question is, how do I know if the stone has passed through to my bladder? I believe it's still in my body, just not sure where. It was 3-4 MM, so I think I'd notice if it came out. Thanks.

She is currently under an urgent operation but due to the size she may have to be put down. Our Piggie has A Large Bladder Stone

Hello everyone!

I am unsure where to go to talk about this/get advice. Our 5ish year old guinea pig, Wolverine, recently started to make weird noises while using the bathroom. We took her to the vets and they said she had a large bladder stone. She had already lost some weight (the vet even said she lost some muscle mass) but we couldn’t tell if we were just crazy or not. She is still eating hay, carrots, etc and drinking water. The vet tells us that to have a bladder stone removed is risky (she says a 60/40 chance over her not making it).

This is tearing me up because, even with pain meds, I can tell that bathroom stuff is painful for her. Further, her sister, Gandhi, has been staying at her side almost always to comfort her and she needs her. They would be lost without each other. Assuming that this issue won’t resolve itself (that’s what the internet has been telling me) I imagine that now is the best time to get the surgery as she will only weaken over time. The thing is, I don’t know how long she could live without the surgery or how much pain (even with pain meds) she would endure. If the surgery worked she could keep living her happy life with her sister.

Has anyone dealt with this? Any recommendations? Can her diet fix this issue or alleviate it or is surgery the only way? I assume surgery is the only way, It breaks my heart to have her going through this and I feel like the hope offered by surgery is tempting because I want her to be able to be happy and pain free.

How do you know when the stone has moved to bladder?

Still dealing with my first stone (4mm) since the first week of March. Next Wed will have been a month. The worst of the pain was the first week and with things being better now. But I have no idea where that stone is. This week I have been having what feels like bladder contractions about once every few minutes with an urge to pee without actually being able to pee much. How can I tell where this stone is? How will I know when it has moved out of the ureter and until my bladder?

Constant bladder discomfort and bloating - CT scan shows no more stones, slightly inflamed bladder wall. Help.

Hi again,

After ESWL I passed all my stones and fragments, but have been dealing with constant Bladder discomfort and bloating. It’s like I’m always hyper aware of my bladder, lower abdomen and penis.

Had a follow up CT scan and showed no more stone but slight inflammation of bladder wall. I was already on antibiotics and my pee showed no UTI present though it is being sent for culture.

I don’t knows what to do, the discomfort is ruining my life and I have had multiple anxiety attacks and thoughts of doing something stupid. I woke up feeling better today but it returned in a few hours. I can’t focus on being a parent or anything.

It’s not necessarily a feeling of always needing to go. It’s almost like constant pressure and agitation, and my brain/bladder messaging is all over the place. Sometimes I don’t even know if I need to go but I’ll go to the bathroom, empty a full bladder and feel exactly the same afterwards.

This has all happened since my kidney stone.

Guinea pig just passed a large bladder stone. Now what?

A few hours ago one of our guinea pigs was standing in the corner of the cage making pained squeaking sounds every few minutes. Eventually she moved and we were able to see a hard, white object coming out of what we initially though was her anus, but on closer inspection was actually her urethra. We called the vet, and while they couldn't tell us exactly what it was, they recommended we hold a warm towel on the area to see if it would dissolve or loosen. We tried that, as well as just holding her rear end in a bowl of warm water (which was another recommendation we saw online), and it eventually came out. Seeing it after it came out, it became obvious it was a bladder stone. It was around 10mm long by 5mm wide (photo). She now seems much happier and more comfortable.

Our guinea pigs' diet consists primarily of Timothy hay, as well as Timothy hay pellets and a handful of greens + a baby carrot each day. As far as I can tell this diet should't cause bladder stones, but judging by the size of this one, it seems like it could've started forming before we adopted her around 2 and half months ago (granted, I have no idea how fast these things grow).

Does anyone have any thoughts on what we should do now, or if there's anything we should be concerned about? She seems fine now, but my gut feeling is that we should bring her to the vet for an x-ray to see if there are any more stones or other issues.

TL;DR: Guinea pig was in pain, passed a large bladder stone, seems fine now, but we want to see if there's anything else we should be worried about or do.

Obligatory pigture

Meaning of Bladder Stones explained by Urologist in Model Town

Urologist in Model Town, Dr. Saurav, explains Urolithiasis, the presence of stones within the urinary tract, can take many forms. Stones in the ureters can lead to obstruction and pain, and bladder stones can cause bleeding, irritation, and prone to infections.

What are Bladder Stones?

Kidneys have highly efficient filters, function in our body to keep the good and flush the bad. The kidney dutifully filters out certain things, such as calcium, potassium, magnesium, sodium, citrate, phosphate, and oxalate, which we have in excess in our bodies. It holds on to things we need, such as sugars, fats, proteins, and significant minerals. Waste materials get to concentrate in the urine**.** Urologist in Model Town, Dr. Saurav says this is where stones can form.

Not all Bladder stones are preventable, but most are treatable. This seems difficult, but preventing bladder stones is the best cure. Urologist in Model Town, Dr. Saurav says, that for the early diagnostics and preventions you must select the right urologist who is expert and qualified.

Why early treatment is important?

Early treatment is the only way to stop the infections and other complications caused by the Bladder Stones. If you delay the treatment, it can lead to some serious problems like Urinary Tract Infections and Chronic Bladder Problems says Urologist in Model Town, Dr. Saurav.

can my fellow kidney stoners offer me advice for my updated situation? they said the 5mm stone is in the ureter very close to the bladder and the other 7mm is lodged tight in the right kidney.

I was concerned this morning about despite the amount of water I was drinking and a little sprite to settle my stomach didn't seem to be peeing much and my bladder hurt it was more dribbles than anything else. I thought OH FUCK the stone moved and blocked my ureter.

didn't find out one way or another "officially" but they did an ultrasound tha massively showed the 7mm stone in my kidney that hasn't dropped. I've left two messages with the Urologist the previous ER was supposed to be referring me too.

They gave me a shot of Toradol which DAM that's good stuff. should I really be super concerned about the stone blocking off my ureter completely?? just took my daily Flo Max. I have no appetite so what is the food and beverage secrets for kidney stones? how do you keep from losing a ton of weight and being cold all the time? I know to avoid large meals cause that's what set the stone moving big time for some reason. That and the beer I suspect. Beer seems to make stones moooooove
