A list of puns related to "Assassination Nation"
I feel like every mercenary group or assassin has their price right? And there's always some country or entity that would want to overthrow the current government. Why aren't there more attempts in to the point that it's common in modern day?
This isn't referring to any current geopolitical issue.
All economic sanctions do is make people's lives worse while kicking the root problem down to the next generation. For example, North Korea has been under sanctions for well over 50 years and the same problems are still there, and families were pretty much permanently split into two and South Korea is under a constant nuclear threat. It isn't really a solution to anything.
In all cases where economic sanctions have been used, the authoritarian or totalitarian regime is pretty good at passing the buck to the lower class while still living in luxury themselves. In many cases, it solidifies their power.
However, assassinations of key political figures keep the authoritarians out of power, don't hurt the common people at all, and if done right even allow the common people to choose what to do from that point forward.
(The downside is, of course, a power vacuum leading to a civil war, but I personally think that that's preferable to a nation ruled by an authoritarian who's carrying out a genocide, for example).
The only reason political assassinations aren't commonplace is because it isn't considered "gentlemanly" but I think allowing atrocities to continue is also not gentlemanly.
(I just remembered while writing this, but there's a plotline in Tom Clancy's "Executive Orders" where they send a stealth bomber to bomb a foreign leader's house instead of fighting a war or using sanctions)
I love Euphoria, probably my favorite show of all time. I can admit the writing is sometimes awkward, but holy shit, Assassination Nation is BAD. 25 minutes in and almost every scene is a mixture of bad acting and shitty writing. I cannot believe that this was made only a year prior to Euphoria.
