We bought a cabin on a nice piece of land recently. We had kind of assumed we could put a point well (folks we know close by have a point well). But now that we’ve closed we’ve spoken with the previous owners who said they went down 30 feet and didn’t hit water for a well. He said the clay there is making it so water can’t travel side to side. There is a spring fed (underground spring) pond on the property, that is pretty deep. What would you do for water? Do we just bring drinking water in? Do we filter the pond water? Should we keep trying for the point well? Thoughts?
We don’t want to do a traditional well, as we don’t want to have to have electric to run the well pump etc.
I have a race that is... Elf-like. Tall, thin, run fast, etc. I have plans for them living in the plains and the deserts (I think of them like gazelle people if that makes sense). I don't really know how they would deal with finding food and water though. Like I know oasises are a thing, but they don't feel reliable enough for a civilization to form around. I did add a river (like the Mesopotamia Valley) for them, but was hoping for a more spread out society

Then again, I wouldn't be near you, right now, either. Since it was the sum of all of the decisions made in my life up to a decade ago that led me to you. Even though some of those decisions… make you impossible. For me.
For a quarter of my life, now, you've been on my mind. Not… like you are now, to be sure. It's been a slow burn. Always aware of your presence. Always drawn to it. But it used to be a silly, sensible thing. You'd give me a smile and I'd feel a warmth come over me… but then life would go on as usual.
Now, though. I couldn't even begin to describe what happened, but… without meaning to, you drilled right down into that aquifer, releasing the pressure that had been building inside of me without me even realizing it. An artesian well of love and lust, endlessly pouring out of my heart. The aquifer replenished not by rain, but by your smiles, your warmth, your everything…
I fought it, for the longest time. Tried to cap off that well. But, the pressure's too great. There isn't a wellcap in the world that can hold it back.
And why should one fight against love, anyways?
Love is everything. You. Are everything.
