A list of puns related to "Amerigame"
I don't want to step on anybody's toes here, but the amount of non-dad jokes here in this subreddit really annoys me. First of all, dad jokes CAN be NSFW, it clearly says so in the sub rules. Secondly, it doesn't automatically make it a dad joke if it's from a conversation between you and your child. Most importantly, the jokes that your CHILDREN tell YOU are not dad jokes. The point of a dad joke is that it's so cheesy only a dad who's trying to be funny would make such a joke. That's it. They are stupid plays on words, lame puns and so on. There has to be a clever pun or wordplay for it to be considered a dad joke.
Again, to all the fellow dads, I apologise if I'm sounding too harsh. But I just needed to get it off my chest.
Do your worst!
I'm surprised it hasn't decade.
For context I'm a Refuse Driver (Garbage man) & today I was on food waste. After I'd tipped I was checking the wagon for any defects when I spotted a lone pea balanced on the lifts.
I said "hey look, an escaPEA"
No one near me but it didn't half make me laugh for a good hour or so!
Edit: I can't believe how much this has blown up. Thank you everyone I've had a blast reading through the replies π
It really does, I swear!
Hi everyone!
I think it might be time for me to buy a eurogame. Iβve wanted one for a long time, but never could really figure out which. So I thought Iβd make like buzzfeed and crowdsource my solutions.
MY TASTES
Chocolate. When looking at my collection (video and board), the two central elements that endear me to a game are:
Mechanical/narrative synergy. Two of my favorite games of all time are Mass Effect and Twilight Imperium. In both cases the gameplay and narrative strengthen each other - the gameplay connects to and enhances the story, the story is congruous with the decisions and actions taken in the game.
Immersion. I donβt care whether I am in medieval France or in orbit around a dying star - does the game make me feel like I am there?
Fringe benefits (Important, but not central) Science fiction theme, gorgeous art & art direction, good graphic design, replayable for a long, long time.
MY COLLECTION, arranged in descending order of favoriteness
These are the upper echelon. Games that successfully married theme and mechanics, and had amazing replayable children.
The second tier. Games that I love, will always want to play, but are not quite as enjoyable as the first lot. The common reason in this case is that each of these does something that the upper tier does, but not quite as well. Netrunner & Horus Heresy are 1v1 thinkfests, for example, Runewars is TI but less sprawling, etc
These are the games that are easy to teach yet remain deep and replayable - this tier is the strong stable of games that my group plays, since their tastes do not run as heavy as mine.
Here we have the negotiation/alliance games. They are great, but I feel like there's nothing they do that Twilight Imperium does not do better. Also their player counts are quite restrictive.
Games that for some reason or another do not manage to make it to table. Fleet Captains and Descent are a bit too fiddly to set up and play for the return they give, Death Angel is much better solo or 2 player, Risk 2210 I have not played in years.
EUROS I HAVE TRIED
Agricola - I really didnβt like it. I understand that there is a deep game here - strategy, moves, countermove

Nothing, he was gladiator.
Dad jokes are supposed to be jokes you can tell a kid and they will understand it and find it funny.
This sub is mostly just NSFW puns now.
If it needs a NSFW tag it's not a dad joke. There should just be a NSFW puns subreddit for that.
Edit* I'm not replying any longer and turning off notifications but to all those that say "no one cares", there sure are a lot of you arguing about it. Maybe I'm wrong but you people don't need to be rude about it. If you really don't care, don't comment.
When I got home, they were still there.
What did 0 say to 8 ?
" Nice Belt "
So What did 3 say to 8 ?
" Hey, you two stop making out "
I won't be doing that today!
Hello /r/boardgames! As the title says I've been actively engaged in the hobby for almost a year and this is my collection!
(The ones you probably can't tell are: Star Realms in the small deck box, Welcome to the Dungeon, Dead Man's Draw on top of Brimstone and Carcassonne in Greek)
I was drawn into the hobby at first by an old DnD board game, followed by Zombicide which was my first purchase. As you can see my humble collection mainly consists of ameritrash games and I have to admit that I enjoy thematic games with good looking components and art. I also value player interaction and/or possibly conflict. I like all of my games, but my favourites have to be Star Realms, Forbidden Stars, Shadows of Brimstone, Arcadia Quest, Blood Rage and Fury of Dracula in no particular order.
However, I feel it's time to branch out to some eurogames! I liked the drafting in Blood Rage, the deck building in Star Realms, the deterministic combat in Dracula etc and I would like to experience more mechanics (worker placement etc). It would be great if the game featured an engaging theme and beautiful art / graphic design. Player conflict is optional, but in any case I'd prefer it not to be "multiplayer solitaire".
I've done some homework and I'm thinking that I could ease the transition with games like: Dungeon Petz (spot on?), Lords of Waterdeep (too light? thin theme?), Argent: The Consortium (too complicated?). Kemet is also a sure purchase at some point. The thing is, I wouldn't want to get a lesser experience just because I went for a thematic and/or visually pleasing game. And that's where you come in!
TL;DR Ameritrash gamer looking to branch out to some "thematic", good looking eurogames possibly with some player interaction or even conflict, but hopefully without compromising the experience!
Thanks in advance for your time!

This morning, my 4 year old daughter.
Daughter: I'm hungry
Me: nerves building, smile widening
Me: Hi hungry, I'm dad.
She had no idea what was going on but I finally did it.
Thank you all for listening.
