A list of puns related to "1968 Democratic Party presidential primaries"
Has a president running for reelection ever been successfully primaried by a politician of his own party and replaced on the ticket?
There was talk of Republicans primarying Trump in 2020, but that didn't happen, because Trump was too popular with Republicans.
In a universe where the United States has a Prime Minister and the two main parties are the left-wing populist Labor Party and bourbon liberal fundamentalist Democratic Party, the union is at a a divide. Europe is in a Cold War that America is not associated with and does not wish to be associated with, and the Socialists in China were just crushed by the nationalist government with the help of the United States and Spain. Democratic U.S. President Walter Judd is eligible to seek a third term, and has hinted he will try to at the Democratic Convention, but he's said to not compete in the primaries. At the Democratic Convention, who would win their nomination for President?
Todd Edwards is the junior senator for Iowa since 2014, who identifies as a Paternalistic Conservative and left-wing populist inspired by Theodore Roosevelt, William Jennings Bryan and Huey Long.
List of presidents since Watergate, which caused the new party system:
Summary of Ronald Reagan's term, also in 1987 congress passed a law that made presidential primaries happen in one day in every state for a party (but the party got to choose when that date would be)
With an incumbent president being term-limited, his party has had many people announce their candidacy, including the vice president, who some in the party are wary of. The president, Ronald Reagan, has not made an endorsement.
George Bush: George H.W. Bush is the incumbent vice president, but he is much less popular amongst Americans than his boss. Despite this, he follows the conservative guidelines: having the Pledge of Allegiance and prayer in schools, keeping capital punishment, creating a Human Life Amendment, low taxes, and gun rights. When the Iran-Contra affair became public, Bush claimed that he had been "out of the loop" and unaware of the diversion of funds, which has lead many of the liberal Democratic-Republicans to not trust him, believing that he was indeed aware of the affair. An endorsement from Reagan would almost definitely secure him the nomination, but Reagan still remains silent.
Paul Simon: Paul Simon has served as a senator from Illinois since 1985 after being elected by a very slim margin in 1984. Describing himself as a "pay-as-you-go Democratic-Republican", Simon represents the liberal wing of the DRP, and is a vocal critic of Reagan's foreign policy. He is famous for constantly wearing his horn-rimmed glasses and bowtie. He is also seen as a reform candidate: he has attacked opinion polls, saying that politicians practice "followership" instead of "leadership" by casting votes based off of public opinion instead of what they think is best for the nation, and he has attacked the growing occurrence of obscenity and violence in the media, which has gained him slight popularity amongst socially conservative Christians, specifically evangelicals. He is very popular amongst suburbanites.
Bob Dole: The first ever Democratic-Republican vice presidential nominee, Bob Dole has served as a senator from Kansas since 1969, and is the current leader of the Senate Democratic-Republican Conference an
... keep reading on reddit β‘President Biden has chosen not to run for re-election, citing his age and finally staying true to the claim he made in 1987 that "It's time to pass the torch to a new generation of Americans." Biden's presidency has seen the withdrawal from Afghanistan, which was viewed as mishandled by most Americans, the passing of infrastructure bills, and above all, a near full recovery from the COVID-19 pandemic. Now, his chosen successor is, of course...
Vice President Kamala Harris of California

Harris' key point as she campaigns is the Biden administration's largely successful actions taken against the coronavirus. These include vaccine mandates implemented earlier into Biden's term, with narrow approval from Congress in 2022, and the eventual lifting of most restrictions. She is running with a safe, moderate stance on most significant issues, such as the expansion of the Affordable Care Act, universal background checks on all firearm purchases, and the protection of the environment to combat climate change.
Governor Phil Murphy of New Jersey

Murphy is considered to be the candidate of the party's more left-wing faction and has served as Governor of New Jersey since 2018. He has repeatedly criticized Harris' candidacy, arguing she and her administration have not taken enough to steps to combat some of the nation's most significant issues. Murphy supports Medicare for All and the Green New Deal, arguing progressive change is needed to ensure the welfare of America's citizens. He also advocates for a ban on the death penalty and the legalization of marijuana. Harris argues that Murphy's policies are too idealistic and should not be in the interest of voters during such a highly contested election.
The reason this scenario is a national nightmare will be revealed soon...

In 2016, the Republican primary had nearly 20 candidates running for the presidency and we saw how many of these candidates with similar platforms split the vote, allowing Donald Trump to rise to the top of the race.
The Washington Post is speculating on up to 40 candidates running in the 2020 primary for the Democratic party. With this exorbitant number of candidates entering the race, has there been any serious discussion within the DNC to implement ranked choice voting during the primary process?
This is NOT an endorsement of any particular candidate.
Reminder if you are registered as No Party Preference, you need a crossover ballot to vote in the upcoming Democratic Presidential Primary.
Edit: No Party Preference is NOT the same as Independent! There is a registration for the American Independent Party that will not allow you to vote in any non-Independent Party primary.
vote for your preferred candidate for the democratic nomination for the 1968 U.S. presidential election. If youβre a Republican, you can vote here if you want, the polls are open, but a republican primary is posted and linked in the comments.
I would like to preface this by mentioning that I am not an American.
However, it seems like Elizabeth Warren seems to have strong advantages over some other Democratic Party candidates:
The only major disadvantage I can see that Warren has compared to some other candidates is that she never served in the military.
Correct me if I am wrong, but Elizabeth Warren seems to be between Biden and Sanders in terms of political positions. How hasn't this played to her advantage?
I have encountered Warren supporters on Reddit who assert that she failed to get the nomination because "America isn't ready for a female president", but is the answer really that simple?

I really like voting systems and am running a mock primary using First-Past-the-Post voting, Approval voting, Score voting, and Ranked Choice voting to see how the results compare using the different voting systems.
Voting will be open for like a week. Then I'll post results.
All are welcome. If you would like to participate, please fill out a ballot here: https://eSurv.org?s=MCLLGJ_9c2478e5
