I think heโs a director who deserves a spot or two in the collection. Anyone else agree? Heโs incredibly important to Fifth Generation Chinese filmmaking, plus his movies are really good. Profound criticisms of post-Mao China.

I've been on a Zhang kick as of late, and I feel that I don't here his name mentioned a lot when talking about great directors.
I just rewatched House of Flying Daggers and I really feel that movies like that, Hero, and Red Lantern belong in the collection.
He even has a new movie premiering at TIFF this year distributed by NEON, maybe that one gets added?

I saw a Zhang Yimou and Gong Li box set mentioned a while ago on here but since it was from Australia I didn't think much more about it. Yesterday I decided to look into a little more.
For those in the US, the set is region free and is available for pre-order at DeepDiscount for $169 (and free shipping.) Use the promo code DEEP10 and you can get 10% off, which brings it to around $20 a film (same as a Criterion B&N sale) and worthwhile for a limited edition set.
FWIW, looking at rights holders, it seems unlikely that a set this complete will be released in Region A.
