A list of puns related to "Zatanna"
I know the relationship is one of the big ones in the comics, but what I love about YJ is that they put characters in new situations and relationships to show them in a different light.
I'd really like Constantine to be a teenager and join the Team, kind of like Zatanna when she was aged down in S1. His mentor could be Zatanna, I'd be curious as to that dynamic, but I want him to be his own character.
Plus, we've already seen them together in the animated movies. Maybe he could be in a relationship with Zachary Zatara instead. That'd be a cool change for this earth.
Do you think there is a chance of Dick and Zatanna getting back together and do you think they should?
She trained the three to be better magicians and with the ulterior motive to share the helmet with them.
However she did ask (the two of) them and they did agree. This is a grey area whether they really wanted to or not, but she didnβt trick them or lie.
The world needs a doctor fate and Nabu has already drained the most of Giovanniβs life force in just a decade.
This solution is good for Zatanna and Zatara, but also for the earth and doctor fate.
When she first had the idea of her students replacing her fathers place as Nabu, this is what caused child to come to earth right ? Does anybody know why? I get that it was an act of love but was it because that could imbalance things orβ¦
Donβt get me wrong I loved the arc, but I wish we got to see more of Zaranna. I do understand that this arc introduced a lot of history and new characters.
I mean the whole final fight Zatanna was just holding up a shield. I hope we get to really see more of her powers, and Dr. Fateβs.
What happens to her when she says Shazam?? Why is it such a big problem?
Edit: Ok thank you everyone for your replies! Honestly, I forgot that whole scene where Dr Fate was testing them... It feels like a month ago or even more lol
Cons:
I found it anti-climatic that Traci's realized all of a sudden that she could make Flaw's crack bigger, it felt very convenient. I would have liked it better if Mary'd destroyed Flaw after absorbing her friends' powers, making Zatanna's decision to outcast her even more important (or to be honest, anything that was better written)
Despite having 5 episodes, I found this arc to be the most rushed so far, mostly because they tried to fit a lot into it
Zatanna was a passenger of her own arc and not the star. I'm not expecting all of it to revolve around her, but she felt two-dimensional. Savage, Klarion, Dr. Fate and even Khalid and Mary were better showcased.
Pros:
The bus' time travel resulting in Connor's revelation was very well-done
I enjoyed both the Savage's backstory and the protegees fighting their own fears
Mary's dark arc is lovely. I didn't expect it and what I appreciate the most about it is that it's a nice metaphor for addiction: she never stopped craving power, she just found other ways to get her fix
Contrary to what I've seen around here, I'm really glad Beast Boy's depression arc is slow... the pacing feels right to me and more realistic
Zatanna showing a bit of selfishness in the end saved her story from being a total failure for me
I think that's all I'd have to say. I hope Rocket's arc is not the last one because it will probably tie other story points too and leave less to her. Just give her a proper storyline. Ideally for me: Rocket - Kaldur - Nightwing
Did anyone else think that Dr. Fate was pretty weak, all things considered, during Zatannaβs arc?
I understand that Child had the complete backing of the Lord of Chaos, which was what made her character have such a presence on screen. As such, I enjoyed, and understood, seeing her put up such an effortless for all of the other magic users. However, I personally think that Dr. Fate should have been able to put up more of a fight, especially when Child lost the backing of the Lord of Chaos. I thought that the final fight wouldβve been more Dr. Fate vs Child both with nearly equal backing of their powers, so to speak. After all, this isnβt like in Season 1, when Fate was out of practice. He has been on the mortal world for many years. Does anyone else think the same?
I believe Zatanna is completely wrong for basically making these young teenagers / young adults pursue magic training all so she can see her father. I understand it's her dad and all that, but she should not be doing this at the expense of other young adults who may not be well developed enough to make life changing decisions at that age.
Zatanna, while she has good intentions at times, still has a history of just complete deceit. Another example is letting Artemis believe she could talk to Wally one last time even though we aren't even sure Artemis was really going to go to evil magicians to talk to the dead.
Before anyone says I hate Zatanna, I am ONLY trying to discuss her character throughout the season as her adult form.
Does anyone else not really like Zatannaβs arc? We are three episodes in and I feel like thereβs still be little progress in the main arc of the episodes to stop the chaos lords. Like the proving the kids were ready for the fight was alright but I am not that invested in their characters so it wasnβt super interesting to me. I wish we got to see more of Zatannaβs internal struggles because I feel like sheβs being sidelined in her own arc! She feels so two dimensional which makes me so sad because she is one of my favorites. Overall Iβm finding the arc to be meh so far. I think the fight between the chaos lords is super interesting but it has been half-baked. Iβm hoping the last episode is action packed and fun. So far, Artemisβs arc is my favorite, then Meganβs, then this one. Thoughts?
Man, I want a Justice League Dark spin off with Z as the main character. I just love the gothic/ occult aesthetic from the magical sector of the DC Universe. Plus I would pay to see an Earth 16 version of John Constantine.
Zatanna is the daughter of the world's greatest magician and escape-artist, Zatara, who also trained Bruce Wayne before he became Batman. After her father's passing, Zatanna became a world-renowned magician using every trick her father taught her and more. After being framed for stealing money from the Gotham Mint, Batman helped her clear her name. Years later, Zatanna gained the ability to use real magic which allowed her to join the Justice League as a superhero. Although she has only had real magic for a short amount of time, she is considered one of the greatest magic users the League has to offer.

ILLUSIONS
Zatanna learned the art of illusions from her father, Zatara. This is not real magic but simple slight of hand tricks and smoke & mirrors to create the illusion of magic for her performances.
Appears on stage in a puff of smoke with a cart, which she makes disappear and turn into birds
Makes the Gotham Mint disappear and reappear. She did this with a large mirror and hologram
Create sparks using her wand that can illuminate an entire room
Appears in a flash of light and puff of smoke that blinds a bad guy
MAGIC
Sometime after her last meeting with Batman, Zatanna learned how to use real magic. In most cases, she casts spells by saying words backwards, but she can casts some spells by saying them forward as well.
All of the flashbacks for her arc has been a character telling a story to another character. It wasn't until I watched the recent episode that I noticed the pattern.
Episode 1: Phantom Stranger telling a story to Vandal about this first encounter with a Chaos Lord Episode 2: Vandal telling a story to Nabu about the Lords of Order empowering a mortal on Earth Episode 3: Nabu telling a story to Zatarra about how to was a mortal that became a Lord of Order Episode 4: >!Zatarra telling a story to Nabu about how he became a hero!<
Whoever listens to the story in an episode, they then tell a story in the following episode. With this logic, next episode will have >!Nabu!< telling a story to someone, possibly Zatanna, given how >!Zatarra asked Nabu to pass his message to her when he is gone!<.
I've seen that magical characters in Marvel get a lot of good arcs and stories, but I feel that writers who are in charge of Zatanna don't even know basic information about magic or they are afraid to explore and limit themselves a lot.
So I was wondering what would make her more interesting for other people. What kind of stories, adventures and personal things she should go through to make her character rich again.
Personally, I love that originally Zatanna didn't need her voice to make things happen (since that was only to honor her father), and that she was the youngest in the JL (not Bruce's age nor his romantic interest). I'd like her to maybe be true to herself or grow as a homo-magi and use her magic for bad and good, because you know, nobody is perfect and sometimes we are immature so she can succumb to morally "bad" things. What about you?
Do you think Zachary and all of the other magic users from the DC Universe will be in it. Even ones that I donβt know?
Not everyone will agree with this, but I wish the flashback story was told all in one stretch of time. Kind of like Legend of Korra did in the second season or arcane act1. It is jarring to keep switching when it is disconnected to the previous scene. I also think it would help the end of episode 10. This is 100% personal preference, but it is distracting. What are other peopleβs thoughts?
Ever since Season 1 where Zatara dons the Helmet of Fate in Zatanna's place, I've felt so bad for her.
She deserves to be with her father. I respect Doctor Fate's resolve to maintain Order, but he needs to go.
Personally I don't care if Zatanna tricks/manipulates/forces Fate into removing the Helmet or if she finds a suitable replacement, I just want her to be with her father again.
So, are Nightwing and Zatanna no longer in a romantic relationship with each other?
Is it just me or are Zatannaβs episodes (at least so far) not centered around Zatanna but the story. If you know what I mean?
I feel like Mβgann and Artemisβs stories were character-driven, but Zeeβs feels more plot-driven.
Her protΓ©gΓ©s are in these episodes way more than Arrowette, Arsenal, Spoiler, and Halo were in Artemisβs arcs but we arenβt really made to care much about them.
It almost irks me how we keep side-stepping from the main plot to discuss Earth-16βs Savage history. Even though, it sheds more light on Vandal Savage, and itβs pretty interesting (and kinda confusing), I wish it was more about Zatanna.
I hope the rest of the episodes are centered more around her, cause if this is what theyβre doing with someone that had more time to connect with the audience in Season 1, then Iβm gonna be worried about Rocketβs episodes.
Hello,
I wish to partake in reading more into Zatanna. Primarily, her solo story lines, but not exactly sure when or where to start.
I did read the recent JL Dark storylines while I think they were showcasing on the current JL runs. Not 100% when.
But I been itching to see and read up more on her since she's probably the only magic user I like. And I don't think she has been portrayed well in recent media. JL Dark/Apocalypse did do her well, and the old JLU cartoon. Don't like her YJ version.
I haven't checked out her issues? But did she have a new 52 run?
Thanks
Pros:
-Dark Mary - love this idea and her character I wish we got to see more of it in the arc and it would have been cool to see her absorb all the power in the last episode it would create an interesting dynamic and make her outcast more impactful
Klarion - thereβs no good reason for this one I just love his character and all the Klarion content
the alliance between fate and klarion
Zatanna getting fate back
the school bus montage
Cons:
-Zatanna was sidelined in her own arc and I liked that they made her do something selfish in the last ep but this just felt off because we learned nothing knew about her character for the whole arc. Disappointing.
Garfield: too much garfield depression they could cut out half of the scenes and weβd still get a solid idea of what heβs going through. The scenes also ruined the pacing of the main conflict.
Vandal savage arc: the only reason I didnβt like this is because there was so much slideshow telling and not enough showing
-Childβs defeat felt rushed and lazy especially considering that had 5 episodes for this arc.
-the length of the arc: easily could have been cut down to 3 episodes had they cut out garfield scenes and they def could have made the order chaos arc close sooner
Overall: 6.5/10
Making a zatanna charcter and cant seem to find the same body size as her although I have noticed her feet/heels clip through the floor so maybe thats why she seems a different size. Any help is greatly appreciated and would like to be as accurate as possible π
Iβm so happy Mary Bromfield has finally made her way onto the screen and not just in a passing mention. I really hope she suits up at some point in the arc. Canβt wait to see why she left the team and the life behind.
Who should zatanna be paired with I'm basing on DC canon I have seen
