Wireless wind vane experiences?
Anyone have experience with a wireless solar powered wind vane and display? I'm looking at raymarine r101 or something similar.
I have a 30ft boat with a mast that's about 40" up from the deck. In the 30 years the previous owner had the boat he never took the mast off and I don't want to be the one to do it. So I think I gotta go wireless.

I'm looking to get a wind vane to attach to club boats when I use them. I'm newer to sailing and have a hard time with wind direction in low wind.
I was looking at the 3 options on Sunfish Direct. Any advice/ suggestions greatly appreciated.
Another one from the collection, 1910 Westinghouse DC "Vane". Before mechanical oscillators took over wind mechanisms were the standard. No headwire from the motor to the base either, uses slip rings and brushes instead. If you remove the rubber stoppers it spins 360 degrees.

Best Wind Vane (for Flicka 20)

I was wondering if you could recommend the best, and preferably relatively affordable, wind vane autopilot for a Flicka 20 on long Bluewater passages. My idea was a CapHorn Jean-du-Sud, but any others are welcome.

Is there a best wind vane?
I know that there's no right answer here but can anyone sell me on a self steering system and give at least one reason why its better than the others. Im looking at Monitor Hydrovane and Cape Horn, they all seem the same. Also if ones a better bang for your buck id prefer that over the premium option.

Followup. I taped the wind vane so that it cannot move and still am getting chaotic readings. Taped in place at 2pm and let it stay that way for ~8 hours. Something is obviously wrong with the directional sensor or internal connection. The unit is only 4 months old. Any tips?
Added a mechanical autopilot, a wind vane, to my sailboat! Now you can cruise without worrying about manning the helm!

Does anyone have a wind indicator reccomendation? I've got an Amazon gift card and I'm eyeballing the c vane, but I'd love to hear other ideas.
I hope the game winds up with camp sets that don't just have different appearances, but architecturally unique structures: dormer windows, bay windows, towers, columns, arched doorways, domes, gargoyles, weather vanes, crown molding, etc. etc. etc.
You could make some sick Fallout themed gargoyles.
Weather vanes would be trivial to impliment and could also be in nifty fallout themes.
Some of this stuff is already in the game (dormers, bay windows). Give us access please!
