I chose the people to carry water/shit for the bailiff of rattay and now he won’t speak to me. I think it was because I picked the girl to carry water but I am not sure. Anybody that knows exactly which people make him mad?

Per the title, is this allowed?

To break down what has happened. My mother owes our water supplier just over £1,000. She has a payment plan with them and has been paying it regularly. However, she recently missed a bill by two weeks, but did pay it in the end. They did not send any notice of non-receipt of payment to my mother.

She has suffered from small TIAs since I was a child, she has had five in total. This has affected her memory. For those who don't know, a TIA is a form of a stroke. My father had a full right-side stroke early this year and it took a little while to get the financial situation under some semblence of control.

So myself and my brother still live at home, taking care of our father and mother. I do work full time, and everything I own is owned by myself. My brother is my dad's full-time carer, though, so does not work. We have vehicles outside of our front door so I am worried they will just clamp and tow the vehicles (I own a motorcycle).

Is there any recourse we can take other than not answering the door to, and not speaking to the bailiffs? I can't really aford to throw £1,000 towards the water supplier and the ungodly fees a bailiff would charge on top.

Decided to dig deeper after seeing a post about tech and finance being better career paths than medicine. In terms of lifetime career earnings, I feel medicine strikes a great balance between high wages and interpersonal impact. Though the grass may be greener during medical school, we'll catch up eventually. (Although this doesn't account for stock options and bonuses that certain professions may have)

I don't want to step on anybody's toes here, but the amount of non-dad jokes here in this subreddit really annoys me. First of all, dad jokes CAN be NSFW, it clearly says so in the sub rules. Secondly, it doesn't automatically make it a dad joke if it's from a conversation between you and your child. Most importantly, the jokes that your CHILDREN tell YOU are not dad jokes. The point of a dad joke is that it's so cheesy only a dad who's trying to be funny would make such a joke. That's it. They are stupid plays on words, lame puns and so on. There has to be a clever pun or wordplay for it to be considered a dad joke.

Again, to all the fellow dads, I apologise if I'm sounding too harsh. But I just needed to get it off my chest.

Anyways, I (25f) have a two year old son from a previous relationship. After I gave birth, I was asked about birth control. I said, “Yes please” and now I have Nexplanon, a birth control that gets inserted into your upper arm. I was told it lasts 3 years.

Cut to now, my fiance (27m) told me he wants a baby. I said I did too, (just not now) and that I’d get my Nexplanon out after the three years are up and I won’t replace it. This wasn’t soon enough for him, he wanted me pregnant NOW. I stood firm and said I’m not ready to have another baby, I want to be a little more stabile, money wise and in general.

Fiancé was mad and we got into a big argument. I brought up my son and told him my son sees him as a father figure, that we already have a child to take care of while my birth control runs its course. All of a sudden he started shouting at me, saying he wanted a baby that’s biologically his and that every time he looks at my son he gets angry. I asked him why and he told me it’s because he sees my ex in my son. (My son looks a lot like his father.) He then went on to tell me he doesn’t feel like a parental figure to my son, he has no personal attachment to him. He says it’s because my son isn’t biologically his and he resents us for this.

Hence, the baby talk. He wanted my arm implant out immediately. I said no way, I’m not ready for another baby yet. We continue to argue about this until I’m finally tired and frustrated, so i say I’m done arguing and just head into our bedroom.

An important fact to know is that I take medication to sleep, a pretty strong medication with a high dosage. It knocks me flat on my ass, the Sandman comes and slaps me across the face so I’m down for the count.

• Personal Loan 1 = £295pcm (remaining balance £11,000)

• Personal Loan 3 = £70pcm (remaining balance £1120)

There are also odds and ends that I don't have exact specifics for to hand and we of course spend the occasional money on takeaways, toys for our daughter (2yrs) etc but nothing overly extravagant and there are also things like Streaming subscriptions etc.

As you can see we are not totally screwed and with a low mortgage price which will be fixed at that price forever (private mortgage) things really aren't bad. We are lucky in many many ways.

Pre-pandemic we would always end the month with about £800 in the account which would roll over to the next month and either get used up when a big purchase was required such as filling the heating oil tank or a car going wrong (which we have been really unlucky with the last few years) or it has gone into improving our home. We live in a 1600's farmhouse which still requires a good amount of work and any maintenance is always expensive. For reasons I cannot go into we cannot move or remortgage, but to be honest we are happy here and the house is 85% fine.

Recently however, due to the increase in prices + the increasing demands of a child we are ending the month with around £250-300 left in the account. This is still not a terrible place to be compared to some, but we have no savings, no emergency fund and we live in a house which is a ticking time bomb for things going wrong. We also have things that we would like to do in future which cannot be done on credit and will require saved chunks of money but the cash isn't there.

I'm 26F and looking to improve my personal finance situation. I have money sitting in a current account that I don't touch. Considering a LISA but is there anything better?

Quick breakdown of my current finances:

• £4k in my main current account. This is where my salary is paid and all daily expenses/rent comes out. No arranged overdraft on this account.

• £4k in a Help to Buy ISA. 1% interest rate which I'm not happy with but want to stick with it for the bonus. I consistently put in £200 a month from my main current account.

• £2k in a separate current account. I mostly put cash gifts e.g birthday in here. I don't touch this account ever. I want to move this into a higher interest account/investment but not sure which one? Arranged overdraft of £200 I think (never used it).

• £600~ in Wombat micro investing. On about a 20% return. This was to test the waters with investing. Considering closing this account and combining with the £2k into a different investment.

I'm also concerned about my credit score. It's marked as 'average' I believe. I want to buy a house in the next 5 years.

I've never been in any debt whatsoever, aside from student loans. Never touched an overdraft. Never had a credit card or a store card. Never used buy now pay later.

I am fearful of debt and credit due to having the bailiffs round as a child. As a result I'm very financially conservative which is preventing me from building a good credit rating. What are some safe options for using credit to my advantage?

Edit to add: I would put more into my Help to Buy account but £200 a month is the maximum allowed. So I'm open to regularly saving more in a different account as well.
