Walt Disney World tips for Disneyland Resort locals/regulars
I am planning 2 WDW trips with my family for next year, 1 summer (June or July 2022) and 1 winter (Dec 2022 or Jan ‘23), and none of us have visited Disney World before. We will be staying for 4 full park days in the summer (no hopper, just 1 park per day) and 3 full park days in the winter (with hopper) most likely. However, we live less than an hour drive away from the Disneyland Resort in California and usually go at least once a year (if we don’t buy Annual Passes/CA special tickets).
I wanted to know if there is any tips anyone has for Disneyland regulars for visiting Walt Disney World. If you don’t know, Disneyland Resort has these in common with Disney World:
- Most classic Disney Magic Kingdom rides, such as the mountains (splash, space, and big thunder), Small World, Peter Pan, Dumbo, Jungle Cruise, Buzz Lightyear, Pirates, Haunted Mansion, Autopia/Speedway, Teacups, etc.
- Reskins of WDW rides, like Radiator Springs being similar to Test Track, Junkyard Jamboree being similar to Swirling Saucers, Grizzly River being similar to Kali River Rapids, etc.
- Other miscellaneous rides like Soarin around the World, Toy Story Mania, and Little Mermaid.
- Galaxy’s Edge with both ROTR and Smugglers.
Any rides we can skip or deproritize since we have it close to home? Any rides we should ride anyway because of the minor differences? Any other tips for someone who is familiar with Disneyland when visiting Disney World?
