A list of puns related to "Visitor Center"
Apologies if this is off topic for this sub, but thought Iβd ask you guys firstβ¦
Hs anyone assembled their own knife at the visitor center in Switzerland? Iβm going on vacation, thinking about doing it, and wanted to hear how it went from someone whoβs done it before.
I also think it would make for a great personalized gift for my groomsmen in my upcoming wedding. Do you think theyβd let me make a bunch of them at once? Like 8-10?
Planning on arriving around 5:15 AM but wonder if I should do earlier. I'm also debating biking up but Google Maps says that will take about 50 minutes so I'd probably get there around the same time whether I biked or took the shuttle...
I canβt imagine why, but the church is taking down the North Visitor Center. It was a staple in my childhood and mutual activities. I have several positive memories from that place. I wonder how the active Mormons feel about this?

We are wanting to stargaze at the visitor center but just wondering if clouds will obstruct the view, or if at the 9000 feet altitude the visitor center is above the clouds?
ETA: Also, wondering if the new moon is an absolute must. We are currently on the third quarter of the moon and we are wanting to visit soon before we leave the island.
I wanted to share something that happened a few weeks ago. I'd been debating whether or not to make a PSA style post for awhile, but finally decided on doing so.
I've been ascending Baldy via Bear Canyon for years. Per the rangers' recommendation/permission, I'd been parking in the back lot of the Visitor Center each time. Walking to and from the lot requires walking down ~100 feet of Hill Ave, which has a 'Private Drive -No Outlet' sign posted.
There was an older white woman (~60) in a white SUV, turning out from Hill as I was turning onto it by foot, after having finished my hike. I'd reached the entrance of the Visitor Center back lot, when the lady threw it in reverse, and quickly drove back to me, with her window down. She asked me Are you lost? Do you need help?, which I thought was kind of weird to ask someone who's calmly walking along in a soft shell, B1 boots, and internal frame pack.
I politely responded No, I am fine. Just walking to my car, thank you. She suddenly became irate, What is your name? What is your address? You're not allowed to be here! I calmly reiterated that I was walking to my car after finishing a hike, and that I had permission from the Ranger to be there.
At that point, I was getting a really bad vibe, and realized that the woman didn't quite seem to be all there. I mumbled have a nice day and just walked away from her, through the back lot entrance, to my car.
As I was loading up my car, the woman stayed put, with her car obstructing the single entrance/exit to the lot. I saw that she was on her phone, intermittently looking over at me. I became increasingly sketched out. Was she calling some people to come over and beat me up?
I took my time loading up, hoping that she would leave, so there would be no confrontation due to her blocking my exit. Luckily, she did. I guess she had more important things to do than sit around in her car for 15+ minutes to harass a hiker.
I just wanted to share this experience with everyone. Be safe, deescalate these kind of encounters if at all possible. Have a plan to defend yourself, in the case that it's not an option.
For context, I am doing my first sort of solo trip out to California and am trying to spend one day in Yosemite before my flight back home. I found a trip from the Fresno Airport with YARTS to the visitors center. I wanted to book a guided group hike that meets for departure at the Ahwahnee front desk and I would need to get from the visitors center to the hotel. I saw they werenβt far apart and may have to walk there since no shuttles are operating. Does anyone know how doable that is?
I was just parked outside of the Visitor Center and I received a parking ticket. However, the balance on the ticket was $0, should j be worried about paying that or no?

The purpose of this would be to help with traffic issues. Shortly afterwards, a prominent public servant suggested that maybe people would ignore the panel discussion. See the start of page 2: https://doorcountytourismzone.com/uploads/meetings/6-3-2021%20final%20minutes.pdf
If you read it, note that Van Lieshout on page 1 appears to be mistaken about what is required. https://docs.legis.wisconsin.gov/statutes/statutes/66/vi/0615/1/fm does not require room tax money to benefit lodging providers zone-wide. Rather the law forbids projects which only benefit one lodging operator and not any competitors. His concern is similar to Robillard's that they would end up "giving money to the County to do a bunch of stuff". So they were concerned that the county would decide to divert room tax money which is currently spent on ads and instead direct it to "Tangible municipal development" used by "transient tourists and reasonably likely to generate paid overnight stays" .
Right before they got taken down by Rexy, the raptors took some time before trying to attack. Why is that? Is it pack mentality, were they waiting for one another? Were they missing the big one, the leader who would have likely drawn first blood or something? Were they sizing up their prey? What was it? What do you think?
I've got little kids (6 and 7) and we can be patient with getting a pass to drive the road.
But what I want to know is... can we at least access the visitor center, get our passport stamped, do the junior ranger stuff, and do any of the 0.5 mile hikes that are just inside the entrance?
It seems silly to restrict access to those, just as it seems silly for us to require a pass that one of y'all can get more use out of than our family.
Thanks
Hello everyone! I am planning an itinerary for my trip to Zion in early June and did not successfully end up with shuttle tickets for our first day. Does anyone have any recommended trails or activities that are within the entrance / visitor center area? I am not opposed to taking an ATV tour or driving to scenic areas my first day. I plan on hiking Angels Landing / West Rim Trail on day two and the Narrows on day three before heading to Bryce Canyon. Thank you for the input and recommendations!
Planning to get to Zionβs visitor center really early, park the rental car and then walk into into Sprindale to get some breakfast and come back by 9 am. Will they let me re-entry that way, showing my car pass?
We are planning on visiting GNP in a few days but were unable to get a GSRET. We were planning to enter the park before 6 AM to avoid the ticket checks.
Does any know if can we spend the entire day in the park or camp overnight provided we make it through the gate before 6 AM?
Will we be able to visit the visitor centers to get further trip planning help without a GSRET?
Any suggestions on where to visit that we can avoid the crowds and not need a GSRET?
Thanks!
