Can’t sleep thought: If the United States (and elsewhere) became democratic socialist, the church would quickly fade away.
Based purely on anecdote, when I was on my mission (St Louis, 97-99) the only people interested in the church were very poor. I never had an investigator who was above the poverty line. My assumption is, when you have means to live even remotely well, seeking god and answers isn’t wanted or needed. If everyone’s needs were met, there’d be less of a desire for religion.
Curious if others have similar or conflicting ideas?

When I was a kid, at church we often recited the Pledge of Allegiance to the Flags (both US and Christian), and I never knew what they were saying for the Christian one, so I always said, "I pledge allegiance to the Christian flag of the United States of America" and then continued the US pledge 😅
