I'm making an 7" McFarlane Ultramarine vet and all I have it Vallejo Ultramarine. What's everyone's opinion on it? Thank you
I recently got back into the hobby and wanted to pick up what I left as a 12 year old. I happily painted my macragge box set marines when the most terrible thing happened. I ran out of my ultramarines blue. To my horror I discovered that this Colour no longer exists, GW replaced it with macragge blue, which looks completely different.
I tried what I could to replicate the colour, the new GW altdorf guard blue was the closest thing but it looks jarring next to what I already painted.
Pls fellow Smurf’s, can you tell me what colours/brands I should get to get my ultramarines blue colour back?
Pen is in B condition, has been very lightly used and inked once. Selling since I don’t use it as much as my other pens. Includes original box.

As I'm still a beginner in the WH40k world and miniature painting as a whole I'd like to share my observation after spraying Space Marines with Citadel Macgragge Blue and Army Painter Ultramarine. I've seen some posts in the Internet that the latter one is a bit cheaper and could be used as a replacement for the former one. Also, maybe this will help other beginners to choose the paint by how it look/how they feel.

Starting from left side: Macgragge Blue, Ultramarine, Macgragge Blue, Ultramarine.
Macgragge is more matt than Ultramarine. Ultramarine looks like it has more greyish in it, somehow less "saturated". More bright colors are looking more - I would say, energetic or healthy. On the other hand, less saturated colors are more comfortable for the eyes and more battlefield tested.
Of course, the most important thing is that painting should be fun so everything depends on you and your imagination - remember, just have fun and use colors you like the most.
