The FSB of Russia has published archival documents about the atrocities of the Nazis in the Tver region of the USSR during the Second World War. It's very scary to read. I will give here only a few paragraphs in English.

The occupation of the Kalinin (now Tver) region by the Nazis lasted only two months from October 17 to December 16, 1941. However, during this time, the Nazis tortured and killed many civilians here.

On January 5, 1942, in Kalinin, liberated by the Red Army, in one of the courtyards in two cellars of burnt sheds, the bodies of ten men and three women were found.

"The found corpses were mutilated beyond recognition," the certificate said. Forensic experts found that women and some of the men were strangled, and the jaws of all the victims were crushed with a blunt object. Five people had their eyes gouged out.

A few days later, in Kalinin, in a vegetable garden on another street, a pit with 21 bodies of the dead was found. On examination, it turned out that 11 corpses had their hands twisted back and tied with scraps of electric wire, 12 people had eyes gouged out, soft tissues on their faces were smashed, upper and lower jaws were crushed, teeth were knocked out, and two had ears cut off.

"In mid-December 1941, in the village of Salygino of the Burashevsky village council of the Kalinin district, the Germans threw the inhabitants of this village alive into the fire of Loshkova Ksenia, 62 years old, Kuznetsova Maria, 80 years old, and Kudryavtsev Ulyan, 70 years old, because they prevented the Nazis from setting fire to them. own houses, "the document says.

On December 17-18, 1941, retreating under the blows of the Red Army from the village of Danilovskoye, the Germans completely burned it down, having previously robbed the entire local population without exception and driven the inhabitants to their rear by 15-20 kilometers.

"Then they separated the men and drove them further, and the women and children were offered to go back. When the women and children, gathered in a heap, went in the indicated direction, the Germans opened fire on them, as a result of which there were many killed and wounded," reports.

On the same days, the Germans retreating from the vicinity of Kalinin drove into one place the entire population of several villages of Nekrasovsky, Borisovsky, Ryazan and Lvov village councils, after which they took away able-bodied men and adolescents, and the rest of the people, a total of about two thousand people, among whom were mothers with babies children and old people, drove into the floodplain of the Tmaka
