A list of puns related to "Triple Deity"
I was doing research π§ on her and realized that she was also known as goddess of fertility, childbirth. The coincidence is that my husband & I are currently βtryingβ. I wanted to ask you all if you knew of her needing βher own placeβ to worship ? Or will she be okay on an altar with others? Thinking of maybe getting her own little shelf.Just curious since I donβt want to insult her in any way or form.
Thanks for your help! BBπ
I've been practicing Wicca for a few years now. My deities were Diana and Pan in the beginning, however, I started just to see them as the Triple Goddess and the Horned God in a Celtic culture perspective, without using a deity's name/image/characteristic as I was used to. For me now, they're more like symbols than specific historical named Godness/God such as Danu, Brigid, Cerridwen, etc.
I was wondering is that makes sense? Can I work with the Goddess and God like that? I'd like to know your thoughts about this topic :)
My belief system centered around the Goddess and the God as the female and male forces of the universe. Deities werenβt part of the equation for me. But as I started practicing, I encountered specific aspects of the Goddess that I vaguely associated as simply βmotherβ or βcroneβ. Then a deity (Selene) started coming to me in meditation with the same energy I associate with βmotherβ. Now I am struggling to understand things and I need help of more experienced practitioners.
How do deities fit in as aspects of the triple Goddess? I am trying not to get confused. Are they separate? Are they the same? When I call on the triple Goddess or pray or her or honor her, am I honoring Selene also? When I call on βthe Croneβ, am I calling on Hecate by default (for example) if she is the deity I associate with the Crone?
To start honoring Selene, do I need to light a separate candle for her in addition to the Goddess candle? Leave separate offering⦠etc?
This long theory is explaining how I view the story of Genshin Impact. It is based on both the Pale Princess and The Byakuyakoku Collection.
There are already lot of theories about this recently. This one is presenting the story of Genshin by decomposing it into 4 main eras.

Full disclosure: This was initially made as a comment in another post, however I thought other people might want to see what I see, rather than it get buried. You will also have to forgive the shit photo-of-a-screen images I have included, unfortunately Netflix blocks screen recording, so screenshots just come out blank for me. It also contains spoilers of the book, and the show. It also might be a TL;DR for a few.
Why is Voleth Meir in the show, and why is she actually a better character than we give her credit for:
There are lots of theories around what Voleth Meir is, or more importantly who she is. The show presents her as a demonic entity, that had a murderous penchant, and was impossible to kill. The history is that Witchers of Yore were able to entomb her in a magical prison. The obvious question is - how in gods name did Witchers do that? They don't have access to magic anywhere near powerful enough to do something of the sort. Who can? Sorcerers and Mages.
We first 'meet' Voleth Meir in the elven temple in Episode 2 (everyones favourite), although we have precursory insight into them when we see Ciri and Vesemir talking about her weapon in the Kaer Morhen armoury. Ill speak on the weapon later.
The elven temple scene is far more rich in very subtle detail, not only about Voleth Meir, but also the connection of the elven races to the larger picture. As Fringilla and Yennefer walk in, they admire 'runes' on the wall. It is supposed to show the history (which the elves reaffirm is longer for them) of the continent - the lead up to the conjunction of spheres, and the arrival of monsters. We see Griffin and humans fighting, What look like basilisks, an exodus by sea in longships, and vampires. It all makes sense that monsters would be present in the temple/prison of an ancient, unkillable monster, right?
Except, when Yennefer and Fringilla first look at the runes, there is an image of two elves, which Yennefer says are separated by chaos here. What it actually shows us, is two distinct people, one with an eye above them, and one surrounded by hills and leaves, separated by a *monolith with what looks li

Sarahβs backyard wasnβt big, and it was separated from her neighborβs by a measly picket fence. Easy to jump over for a hasty getaway, since I wasnβt about to go through the house and risk being seen. Luckily her neighbor didnβt have any dogs, and didn't even appear to be at home actually, so I ran through their yard and emerged on another street.
With no destination in mind, I wandered the town for a while as I planned my next move. First things first, I needed to contact Markus, but he wouldnβt answer his phone. I tried calling him over twenty times, only to be met by his voicemail.
βYouβve called detective Markus. If I didnβt answer, Iβm either busy with work, Iβm sleeping, or Iβm dead. Leave a message after the beep and Iβll call you back either when Iβm done with work, when I wake up, or when Iβm resurrected.β

And just to be sure, I sent him a text as well.

With that taken care of, I needed to decide where to hide. I still lived with my parents, and their house was obviously out of the question. It wouldβve been the first place Sarah checked for me. Without a place of my own, and with few friends that also still lived with their parents or in college dorms, my options were down to nothing.

I did tell her that Dad was away, so maybe my lie would buy me a bit of time. It was also across town, so at the very least it would put some distance between me and her. I reached it half an hour later on foot and tried to call Dad, but he wouldnβt pick up either. Straight to voicemail. Same with Mom, whoβd usually answer her phone even at work. I banged on their door, I tried calling both of their phones again and again, all to no avail.

First of all, dad jokes CAN be NSFW, it clearly says so in the sub rules. Secondly, it doesn't automatically make it a dad joke if it's from a conversation between you and your child. Most importantly, the jokes that your CHILDREN tell YOU are not dad jokes. The point of a dad joke is that it's so cheesy only a dad who's trying to be funny would make such a joke. That's it. They are stupid plays on words, lame puns and so on. There has to be a clever pun or wordplay for it to be considered a dad joke.
Again, to all the fellow dads, I apologise if I'm sounding too harsh. But I just needed to get it off my chest.

This will be a much-requested post in which I summarize, in chronological order, my Grand Unified Theories. I will provide citations to my long-form posts where you can find more details and evidence, if it strikes you. Even summarized itβs still pretty long, so Iβm sorry for that in advance (TL;DR ended up being kind of ironic by the time I was finished).
If I do a good job at this, hopefully I wonβt have to clarify anything. If youβre unfamiliar with my theories and reading this, I ask that you check the cited chapters for more details before offering criticism of the timeline! Iβm specifically omitting evidence in order to keep this one brief and easy to follow!
Please note: for brevityβs sake, I will often use a specific date for an event that has a range (i.e. something happened between 2000 B.C. and 1000 B.C. might be labeled 1500 B.C.). Donβt take the exact numbers as gospel! The order in which the events occur and their approximate place on the timeline is whatβs important.
It is also important to note that this will not be an exhaustive timeline. I will mostly only include contextualizing events and things that are a part of my theories.
This will include historical events in both the East and the West, but the labels and terminology for the timeline will be in Westerosi terms.
40,000 B.C. - The world is young. Giants, Lions, Unicorns, the Children of the Forest are all commonplace at this time. The worldβs First Tree, Ygg, is already ancient beyond memory. Hello everyone! I am on my wiccan/witch/pagan/ neopagan exploration. I've found limited information on deities. Who do you "worship"? Who do you connect with? How did you choose them? Etc. Any information is great!
Hello all, today we're going to be analyzing the quickest ways to move around in Skyrim, which can be useful for any playthrough, but especially playthroughs where Fast Travelling is forbidden.
To start, let's get some numbers out of the way:
Basic running (i.e not walking or sprinting) is measured at a raw speed of 370 or 17.3 feet/second.
Swim 'running' is measured at the same 370 or 17.3 feet/second.
Sprinting is measured at a raw speed of 500 or 23.4 feet/second.
Horse sprinting is measured at 600 raw speed or 28.1 feet/second.
With those out of the way we can consider different options or minimizing travel time and maximizing speed.
Maximizing running speed can be accomplished in 2 different ways, either with Khajiit or Argonians. With Imperious, Khajiit move 15% faster at all times. This is a speed multiplier that multiplies the base speeds listed above. The base multiplier is 1.0. After swimming, Imperious Argonians also move 15% faster for 180 seconds. This makes either race move at a rate of 425.5 (19.9 feet/second) while running if the critera for Argonians is met.
Argonians however also move 100% faster while swimming, making their base swimming speed a shockingly high 740 or 34.6 feet/second.
These are all fine and dandy, but we can also add in some spells and perks to the mix to supercharge our travel speed.
The Apocalypse Alteration spell 'Longstride' grants 20% movement speed and 25 extra carry weight while concentrated, and triples it's effectiveness out of combat. While not in combat this raises our speedmult by .6 for a Khajiit or Argonian to 1.75, or 647.5 raw speed (30.25 feet/second). This spell however can be dual cast, which increases it's effectiveness by 2.2x, or an additional 1.32 speed mult for a total of 2.47. This results in a total raw speed of 914, or 42.73 feet/second. Longstride can only be used while walking or running, and not sprinting. Becoming a Werewolf and unlocking the 'Lycanthropic Speed perk' boosts our speedmult by another 10% or .1, for a new total of 2.57, and 951 raw speed (44.46 feet/second).
Back to Argonian swimming however: There is a spell called Reynos' Fins, which increases swmimming speed by 100%, and stacks with Argonians base 100% faster swimming and Lycanthropic Speed, for a 3.1 speedmult, or 1,147 raw speed (53.63 feet/second).
Now we arrive at sprinting, which is best accomplished on a Khajiit, who, with Imperious move 15% faster at all times, but also sprint 40% faster, which is

"My name is Salazar Erde, codename "Prometheus". I am a leader of the organization known as "Beholder". Our task was to protect humanity from the extraterrestrial threat. Let me tell you how everything has gone to hell, but not without the light of hope in the end.
Since the dawn of our species, when our only weapons were metal swords and crossbows, we found out about the "gods". Strange and bizarre creatures in sleek armor, traveling across the skies on metal chariots of massive proportions. Yet very soon we realized those weren't gods. No good deity would abduct their own creations and disappear in heavens without a trace. Or use them as target practice. Or eat them alive before the eyes of others. Those were celestial demons that prayed on us. That could not be tolerated.
I was there, when we, the founders of the "Beholder", attacked a group of these demons. We knew what they were capable of and prepared accordingly. One of celestial chariots, more rugged than majority, descended on a brightly lit night. These bastards targeted one of the villages, probably eager to get new slaves for their perverse purposes. Our ambush sprung into motion as soon as they touched the ground. Several hidden ballistae launched their ammo and one managed to damage one of the engines, forcing chariot to crash. When demons almost recovered from the shock, we were all over them, gutting their worthless flesh and getting our hands on everything we could take. Many of us died to spears of light or flashes of heat, but in the end we prevailed. And with first victory over the heavenly invaders, "Beholder" was born.
Our numbers grew rapidly. Youth of the village that we saved almost entirely joined our cause, seeing us as demigods who dared to oppose the unstoppable menace. A small group of similarly minded brothers and sisters soon became a squad, which then transformed into a small army and ended up as a mysterious order, skulking in the shadows of human society. As arcane as demonic weapons and artifacts were for us, we studied and used them with care. Metal toothpicks that we started with were replaced with molten-hot sabers, wooden crossbows were thrown away for shinning plates that spitted fire, light and metal. And each chariot we managed to take down was a treasure trove of discoveries. Each benefited our righteous crusade against evil from beyond the skies.
Humanity grew and so did we. But "Beholder" remained in shadows, still more than capable of dealing with the demo

After doing some research I believe the maiden-mother-crone triple goddess has a male equivalent.
Dionysus/Bacchus is the male equivalent of the maiden: In later depictions he was always depicted as a young man. Party animal. Drinker. Psychoactive substances. He's Young, Wild and Free as most young men are.
Zeus/Jupiter: King of the Olympians and defeater of the titans. The one all the greeks and romans paid the reverence to. Noticeably potent with his seed and impregnates multiple women. The father. Also one of Zeus's epithets was Zeus-Heliopolitous which was synchronizing him with the sun god Helios. This parallels the mother the being the moon (Selene) while the sun is the father.
Hades/Pluto: Old age and of course death. The male equivalent of the crone.
This is from the wikipedia page on Jupiter under the subheading "Liber" who was just another name for Dionysus:
Iuppiter was associated with Liber through his epithet of Liber (association not yet been fully explained by scholars, due to the scarcity of early documentation). In the past, it was maintained that Liber was only a progressively-detached hypostasis of Jupiter; consequently, the vintage festivals were to be attributed only to Iuppiter Liber. Such a hypothesis was rejected as groundless by Wissowa, although he was a supporter of Liber's Jovian origin. Olivier de Cazanove contends that it is difficult to admit that Liber (who is present in the oldest calendarsβthose of Numaβin the Liberalia and in the month of Liber at Lavinium) was derived from another deity. Such a derivation would find support only in epigraphic documents, primarily from the Osco-Sabellic area. Wissowa sets the position of Iuppiter Liber within the framework of an agrarian Jupiter. The god also had a temple in this name on the Aventine in Rome, which was restored by Augustus and dedicated on September 1. Here, the god was sometimes named Liber and sometimes Libertas. Wissowa opines that the relationship existed in the concept of creative abundance through which the supposedly-separate Liber might have been connected to the Greek god Dionysos, although both deities might not have been originally related to viticulture.
And this comes from the Dionysus page under the subheading of Hades:
*The fifthβfourth century BC philosopher Heraclitus, unifying opposites, declared that Hades and Dionysus, the very essence of indestructible life (zoΓ«), are the same god. Among other evidence, Karl KerΓ©nyi notes in h

After playing with the 2 most popular mods. I've decided to make a comparison for myself.
I think the results were interesting enough to share with the community so here it goes...
I have tested this mod in my quest to find the best AI mod.
Having 3 games (same seed for each) played by AI only, with different difficulties (Prince, Immortal, Deity). I have used https://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=1916397407 in order to spectate.
tldr for AI+: It makes the AI incompetent at defending itself resulting in a constant war with either no winners where they got nothing else going for them (science, culture, ...) or a single winner that controls everything.
tldr for Real Strategy: It adds to the game, but doesn't change it all that much. Civs focus more on 1 type of victory now and they will do rather well even if they compromise in other aspects. Also the AI is too defensive minded when it comes to combat (If this is improved and the diplomacy victory type changed a bit the mod would be close to perfect)
tldr for the basic AI: It's alright. It has the fundamentals to use the game mechanics well, but not focus on anything makes it usually fall behind the player (This is probably why they have decided to go with added bonuses for the AI based on difficulty)
I have added some pictures here: https://imgur.com/a/xl07Pom
Combat:
-With AI+ the AI just wants bloodshed 24/7. They will build more offensive units (siege, rams) and will be fairly competent at attacking other cities. Also after they conquer a city they tend to defend it for a while (they also build walls in the conquered city). BUT this mod makes the AI atrocious at defending itself. They will not defend their capital, and just try to take another city from another civ from a different part of the map where they cannot even hold the city after they capture it. Also they seem to never want to build walls. They just spam siege units, then move them outside of the city(lol?) so the enemy can oneshot it with a melee unit... This behavior is really noticeable with barbarians, where the AI will just build a trebuchet then move it to another city(not firing a single shot), abandoning the attacked city. *See pic 1
Because of this the AI will always be very poor considering other resources and unfortunately this will just result in you being able to steamroll them because while yo

Understanding the Ashwamedha Yajna
This is probably a relevant topic to discuss as polemicists of the Hindu tradition have begun taking one of the controversial aspects of the Ashwamedha sacrifice as a tool to denigrate and disparage the Hindu tradition. But what is the traditional narrative regarding the Aswamedha yajna and what relevance does it have in contemporary Hindu society? Let us investigate .
The historical and theological context
The earlier corpus of Vedic literature(the Samhitas, brahmanas) dealing with ritual sacrifice falls into the category of karmakanda (which places greater emphasis on the mode of action as a means to salvation), while the later texts such as the Aranyakas and Upanishads constitute the jnanakanda (which emphasises esoteric understanding).
Vedic society, during the age in which karmakanda was prominent, centred around a ritual known as Yajna.
The rites in the karmakandha are followed to produce specific temporal rewards which are materialistic in nature. Since they are temporary rewards, they represent a lower mode of worship than the jnanakanda. This mode of ritual is done via appeasement or propitiation of limited beings known devas and is not to be equated with the Bhakti directed towards the Eternal Brahman as found in the jnanakanda. In the Brihadaranyaka Upanishad:-
3.8.10. βHe, O GΔrgΔ«, who in this world, without knowing this Immutable Being, offers oblations in the fire, performs sacrifices and undergoes austerities even for many thousand years, finds all such acts but perishable; he, O GΔrgΔ«, who departs from this world without knowing this Immutable, is miserable. But he, O GΔrgΔ«, who departs from this world after knowing this Immutable, is a knower of Brahman.β
There are three types of ritual practices which are described in the Vedas:- the Nitya karmas (necessary rites), the Naimitika karmas (the occasional rites) and the Kamya karmas (desire oriented rites).
The Nitya karmas are to be followed on a daily basis to produce the necessary results required for expiating sin. According to Vedanta, the Nitya karmas are to be performed without desiring the outcome of the ritual-such a process is known as karma yoga. These rites are also known as nishkamya karmas as they are done without any objective in mind. The non performance of the Nitya karmas invites sin on the individual. ex:- Agnihotra.
The Naimitika karmas are occasional rites -examples include the Upanayana for the initiation of Vedic educ
