Fair Trade is Free Trade. All government trade deals should make sure that American business, labor, and taxpayers are getting the best deal and won't be hurt. And trade deal that gives more power to other countries isn't free trade. Free trade is where both parties are on the same level and treat each other fairly. If one country has an unfair advantage that isn't free trade.
The Egyptians, the Phoenicians, the Greeks, the Carthigians, the Romans, even the Vandals (I think). Countless wars were fought across the sea, either by navies on it, or by armies transported across it. Just as important, it was a hub for trade across all these entities. So how did the Arab conquests of the seventh century affect this process?
Apologies if this is an overly broad question.
Paradox could simulate 19th century mercantile by having inter country trade barriers. Making it cheaper for a factory in England to import dye from India rather then the much closer dye production in France. Just because the two kings sorta dislike each other and refuse to cooperate. Breaking down this barriers through negotiations and synchronizing regulations could reverse this effect greatly reducing shipping costs and bringing prosperity to both countries.
This is for my last assignment in my economics class.
