When Kidd left the team to go play for the Knicks in 2012, Mark Cuban was not happy and vowed not to retire his jersey. Now Kidd is back as the head coach and it looks like Kidd and Cuban are on good terms again. Do you think he will now get his jersey retired?
One idea that's been floating is a throwback to the Minnesota Fighting Saints. Next season is the 50th anniversary of the first Saints season, so the timeline makes sense. Perhaps the Wild ditch the blue and gold colors and just use the classic logo.
There's some controversy about the Wild using the North Stars colors. I do NOT think they will go with them because they just had the reverse retro jersey. I think a good compromise is if the Wild use the North Stars logo on a jersey. Its been 30 years since fans got to see N pointed up to the sky on ice for a meaningful game. Some people will say Dallas owns the right to the logo. Although I think the league owns the logo now. The current Jets have their third jersey as the OLD jets logo. The current Jets have the same connection to the old Jets as the Wild do with the North Stars. The Wild could get away with using Minnesota's first NHL logo.
Lastly, a cream/wheat jersey has been talked about often. The Iowa Wild have a beautiful off-white jersey. The Minnesota Wild could rock as similar looking jersey. Perhaps the two main colors could be cream and red .
Around section 125 or so, you can submit blank jerseys to get mailed away to a company to get the name/number stitched. I gave them a blank home and away a few weeks ago to get Barkov done on both. It wasnβt until later that I found out you could send them directly to Exclusive Pro Sports for stitching (though those take even longer to get done). I ended up sending a couple to EPS to get Huby and Ekblad, but as Iβm patiently awaiting all of those, Iβm now wondering if the quality of the Barkovs I get back from the arena in the next few weeks will be as high quality as the ones done by EPS.
Seeing the new Devils third jerseys, (the new New Jersey jersey?) it had me thinking. I think it would be a pretty cool idea for the leafs to try something similar. Like, having T O R O N T O written vertically across the front, like Pittsburgh has here. Or this Rangers one. Or even what Nashville did for their winter classic.
I dunno, maybe I'm completely on my own here in kinda liking them, but it would be a cool change - still keep the white and blue, no new colours, and see how it would look? Has a neat little throwback feel and would certainly be better than their Reverse Retro jersey's in my opinion.
I was dumb and didnβt buy a reverse retro because I wanted a Mackenzie Blackwood one and didnβt know how to do that. I see people with RR Blackwood jerseys and realize I missed out. Now the Devils have their new black third jersey and I donβt want to miss my opportunity. How can I get one with Blackwoods name on it?
