in the weekly discussion for this week (on unpopular opinions regarding shinee) i mentioned in my post something about how many blingers feel as if they do not have a solid place in the fandom anyone. this is a pretty universal feeling anymore for blingers β far more universal than some would assume. rather than rambling on, these are some of the areas that have been highlighted frequently to me in conversation with other blingers:
- feeling as if we do not have anything to look forward to anyone as a blinger.
- having a hard time digesting newer group promotions β and feeling guilty about it.
- not being able to listen to shinee's new music or watching new content with them β and feeling guilty about it.
- having a hard time digesting any shinee content (group or solo, old or now) β and feeling guilty about it.
- feeling jealous when watching new solo content from the other members pop up β and feeling guilty about it.
- feeling left out when group promotions / new releases happen.
- being upset at the way sm has handled the treatment of jonghyun, his legacy and ot5 since last summer.
- being upset when jonghyun is left out of casual conversation and jokes in relation to shinee.
- discussion about the future of shinee (both in terms of career and their personal lives) being upsetting.
- being upset that everything about jonghyun is linked back to his passing.
- being tired of constantly having to defend jonghyun against people who are disrespectful toward him.
- being worried that jonghyun will be mentioned less as time goes by or people forgetting about him, and now knowing how to deal with that possibility.
- feeling as if you cannot speak up about your feelings because you're worried that you'll be seen as "negative".
this is just the tip of the iceberg. there is a lot more that could be added. this idea was developed after a private discussion and suggestion by the wonderful roserenity! hopefully it can help any of you who need a place to vent, or just want to talk to others about their feelings. please be respectful of how everyone feels in here. i don't want it to be a place where anyone is afraid of sharing their feelings out of worry that they'll be regarded as negative or anything of that sort. of course, shawols with other biases are welcome to comment and share their feelings in here (including those who are ot5 and do not classify a bias, and those who have multiple biases in the group).
Merry belated Christmas everyone! I was lucky enough to spend Christmas Eve this year with Taemin at the first day of his fanmeeting. I've been a SHINee fan since 2013 and they (and especially Taemin) are the reason I started listening to Kpop! Tuesday was the first time I've ever seen one of the members perform and I've been super crazy about Taemin these last few months so it was even more exciting!
Before the Show
I live, like, 5 minutes from the venue, so I walked over around 12:30 to get in line to buy merch. I had been to NCT 127's fanmeeting 3 days earlier at the same venue andddd the decorations outdoors and inside were almost identical, just the backdrops and names changed to fit Taemin's fanmeeting aesthetic. Thanks SM. Merch had only opened an hour and a half earlier and some of the items were already sold out. I ended up buying the SHINee lightstick, a phone strap, one of the Christmas cards, and the photocard set. And with the phone strap I received a random photocard. I was SO CLOSE to buying the slippers but they would probably be way too small so I held back.
I went back to the venue around 6:30 and picked up my ticket and took some pictures. They are super diligent about checking the validity of your ticket and fanclub member status so if you're ever tempted to buy an SM artist fanmeeting ticket secondhand... I say don't try it. When entering the venue everyone was handed a bag with a Christmas themed headband, a card from Taemin, a pack of stickers, and a balloon. Again, the sticker pack and balloon were the same ones (just slightly different design) given out at 127's and WayV's fanmeetings. What am I gonna do with all these balloons SM??? We also got a red ribbon and a slogan for the fan event of the day. The ribbon was to tie a bow around our lightstick and the banner said "A happy good EVEning with Taemin" in Korean.
My seat was on the second floor, not the best but I could still see, especially when Taemin was at the extended stage. Since it's a fanclub only fanmeeting, they're very strict about not taking photos or videos and I didn't want to risk it, so unfortunately I don't have any photos from the night, but there's plenty of videos on twitter if you want to see any of the performances!

Okay so I will admit I have been listening to electric a lot lately. It comes on in my SHINee mix playlist always as I am walking home. The part that drew my to the song was the funky beat. In particular the electric zapping sound followed by what I can only describe as boinging.
I am interested to know what SHINee songs stood out to you with there beat?

Hi! Because of SHINee announcing their new album, I decided to finally deep dive into their discography. My lazy ass is looking for SPOTIFY playlist that has chronologically Shinee music BUT excludes repackages (but includes new songs, excludes songs that were already released previously) and excludes live versions and excludes japanese versions of korean songs (i want to hear original japanese songs, i dont care about remakes). Do you know about any? I could technically stop being lazy but I kinda dont want to. I am currently listening to their 6th album and its so far amazing (currently playing Retro).

This is not a whoβs you bias or you favourite question. Because we love all the members equally here! I ask this question because I really respect Taemin as an artist. He has this uniqueness about him that I am drawn too. The way he crafts his music is very delicate and well done. The way he dances too is very much the same some other artist when they dance it just feels clunky and they are dancing because they have to whereas Taeminβs dance always adds to the meaning of the song. When he is on the stage he makes it his own. He is cheeky and loves to have fun. He is very critical of him though which makes me quite upset because he is so talented and it feels as though he doesnβt see that sometimes however every time he comes back it is better then the last!
