EW2 just didn't click with me and I felt disappointed on the direction it took. It felt really vanilla and bland. Like the development played it safe.

So who thinks EW1 was better? Or if not better, at least more unique? Especially the opening few levels where you had no idea what the F was going on.

Rebuttal 1: Even though YHVH created evil within the world, this does not mean that YHVH is evil. He offers salvation to all through Jesus, by means of which people may escape the evil in the world that YHVH has caused.

Reply to Rebuttal 1: How can a non-evil omnipotent being create evil in the world? At minimum, such a being’s goodness is beyond human comprehension, and at maximum, such a being must be dismissed as evil. Furthermore, there are complications in how the salvation is offered.

Part 3: YHVH actively sends this evil against people. This is the action of a manipulator and/or sadist who will knowingly cause people to suffer.

For this cause God shall send them strong delusion, that they should believe a lie. 2 Thessalonians 2:11

In this passage, YHVH is said to send delusions against people so that they will not believe the Christian message, condemning themselves to an eternity in Hell. From a human perspective, a being who tricks or makes people believe wrong things so that they will suffer is evil.

Rebuttal 2: Even though YHVH creates evil and sends deceptions against people so that they will be condemned to Hell, YHVH is merely punishing people who have already chosen not to believe the Christian message.

What can I say, I am completely blown away by this gem. It has now turned into one of the best experiences I've had in the recent past. A must for any horror fans and worthy buy for gamers in general too 👏🏾👏🏾👍🏾👍🏾

PROS:

• Superb Story which ties things up almost pitch perfectly.
• Sebastian is finally a 3 dimensional and interesting character/lead.
• Cleaner presentation in almost all departments be it Story, Mechanics, Characters, Graphics etc., etc.,
• It has something for everyone.1st half for pure survival horror fans, 2nd half for people who liked the action of the first game and/or RE and well written emotional story arc for fans of strong story-driven experiences.
• Great stealth mechanics.
• Great creature designs.
• Some genuinely unnerving, creepy moments and characters.
• Amazing sound design and background score.
• Unpredictable twists and just the right amount of call back to the 1st game.
• Challenging but never as sadistic/cheap as the 1st instead is fair in its difficulty.
• Beautifully written and acted final cutscenes.

CONS:

• The open-world is not quite properly executed. The laws/rules are not uniform enough for eg: u just can't make a jump which u normally would if the game doesn't want u to go there. A lot of places reminded me of old games with their invisible walls.
• The gunplay and especially the aiming on consoles is not ideal, it needed to be tighter.
• While the writing is mostly great there r still a few instances when the tonal changes are not perfectly executed ( minor gripe )
• Supporting characters r just ur standard videogame archetypes.
• The final boss is boring and would have preferred if the game went for a more horror-themed vibe/boss than ur standard action game boss.

All in all even with some flaws, it's an art.

Which is a better all around game? Looking to get into something. The original Evil Within was decent, however, I wasn't into the whole pyschodelic thing.

So Mobius is gone, Sebastian is happy with his daughter and Ruvik is off in Leslies body probably dissecting some people in his basement and so apart from the fact that Joseph is still alive and that STEM switched back on at the end of TEW2 I don't really know what else they could do with the story and I also just can't see and Evil Within game without Sebastian as the lead so what do you guys think?

So, I recently bought a PS4 and I've been playing a couple of great games. Yesterday, while visiting a store, I found a sequel to one of my favorite games of the previous generation... Yes, The Evil Within had its problems, but when you love a game's atmosphere and gameplay so much, every negative sort of fades away. It had its "cheese" but in a charming way.

A brutal, twisted and imaginative game for sure, I've beaten it three times (Survival, Nightmare and Akumu), plus each of the Kidman DLCs twice (I didn't find The Executioner DLC captivating so I ignored it). Upon coming across The Evil Within 2, I knew I had to buy it, even after knowing that I could get disappointed because I had heard the game just isn't as scary or creative as the original. Well, I am at the beginning of Chapter 4 and here are my thoughts so far:

- Gameplay is solid. It took a bit of effort to get used to this somewhat slow moving speed, but all is well now.

- I usually don't like open world games, unless they have a truly unique concept that can keep me invested. That's why I bought Horizon Zero Dawn and Death Stranding but I can't get into games like Far Cry. The concept of a "horror open world game" is a novelty for me, so I am loving the thrill of risking my life and resources in search of hidden goodies. I enjoy linear games more, but I can see this game merges both concepts, so I have a good feeling.

- So far, the new enemies are generally not as charming as The Haunted, but they accomplish their role. On the plus side: the buzzsaw abomination seems like it could be an interesting opponent when it inevitably returns; the camera killer is very creative and I can't wait to see more of him; also, I'm glad I am taking my time, because I faced off against an enemy I am pretty sure is totally optional (at least for now), which is that ghost lady (the DualShock 4 sound trick really got me, thumbs up for that).

- Story is more straightforward. I am sure it will gain more layers though I am not expecting a lot of them. It's certainly less mysterious than that of the first game though.

That's it for now, I am really enjoying this game. Playing on Nightmare and I've died a few times while experimenting and every death counted towards making me better at the game. It feels balanced.

I've just bought a DLC for this game by mistake and I do not need it. So I was thinking maybe one of you guys need it. Comment on this post and I will choose one of you guys :).

I just finished the second one, and finished the first one a couple weeks ago. I’ve been so invested for all this time, there’s a piece of me missing now I swear 😭

But wow. The entire first game I complained I wanted more character development. Got that in the second, and then some. I’m so happy!!

I just replayed The Evil Within 2 again since launch and i REALLY enjoyed my time with the game. I started a fresh game and beat it in about 14 hours and 30 minutes.

I've been reading through this threat and i don't really see a lot of positivity for this game. I also love the first game. But it's way harder for me to replay due to the technical problems (Have it on PS4 and the framerate is horrendous.)

I really enjoyed my time in Union again. I think the atmosphere is top notch here. Stefano is one of the best villains out there and even though theodore was less stellar he's still pretty intimidating. The TEW1 boss rush is one of the best sections out of the game.

The open world aspect was actually really cool imo. It felt like exploring Silent hill kinda. And the sidequests actually had cool rewards. Anima quests were good.

I also quite like how they did resource management aswell. It really pays off to explore. And even though there are plenty of resources. You do need to actively look for them.

The soundtrack in this game deserves a special mention. Thought it was excellent.

I liked TEW1 and it's lineair approach a lot. It reminds me of Resi 4 but with super natural elements. It had a really creative use of space and imagery. Ruvik was a really good antagonist and His decent to madness was enjoyable to watch. The kidman DLC was also great expanding on the story of the base game.

TEW 2 really added to it imo. Some people say the switch from directors was jarring. But i think they really fit nicely together.

I hope we get a 3rd entry at some point because i really love this franchise. ( i only wish the 1st game ran better, after playing the 2nd game and Resi games in the resi engine it is impossible to switch back to 1 )

This game's textures are really low-res in a lot of places. I think a texture upscale could really make it shine.....at the same time, it does run on id tech 5. So I'm wondering is the mega texturing going to a problem?
