A list of puns related to "Tetrahydrofuran"
Sorry if this is a stupid question. Iβm a college student with limited knowledge of organic chemistry. Iβm doing a tissue clearing experiment and following a protocol that says to adjust the pH of 50%, 80%, and 100% tetrahydrofuran to 9 using triethylamine. How do I measure the pH when organic solvents are involved? I tried to do calculations using the pH values of each solution from Sigma Aldrich, but when I use pH paper to test my solution, the pH is way too high. This makes sense, as the THF solutions are made with dH2O, so 50% THF contains more water than 80% THF so the pH paper would give different readings.
Am I thinking about pH incorrectly?
Also, nobody else in the lab has experience with these organic solvents, so Iβm kind of figuring it out on my own. Iβve looked everywhere online and just canβt seem to find a solution.
>TETRAHYDROFURAN, ANHYDROUS, >=99.9%, INH
Hi. Just wondering what INH stands for? This is from Sigma Aldrich. First time purchasing chemicals for my lab work (I'm thinking it surely can't have to do with Isoniazid (INH), the drug, as the Google searches indicate) In the process of familiarising with the nuances when purchasing chemicals (chemical grades, whether they are standards etc,).
Would also appreciate a reference to these acronyms from Sigma Aldrich website or otherwise if you can assist. Thank you.

Under basic conditions, I know that the alkoxide ion forms and then an substitution reaction occurs to form the ring. But how would the alkoxide ion form under neutral conditions without water acting as a base? Would the lone pair on the alcohol oxygen just form a bond with the carbon with the Bromine, causing the Br to leave, and then would a deprotonation occur via the Br anion to form the tetrahydrofuran?
This is my first job after getting a masters in organic chemistry. We also weigh all of our APIs and products at a balance that is not in a hood. In general there is bad air circulation in the lab and Iβm really worried. I want to look for a new job but Iβm afraid that all Pharma companies in NJ work like that.
THF is furan, but with four additional hydrogens. It has no double bonds, whereas furan has two.
The product arrived in a nasal 10ml spray with 130mg/10ml.
With zero tolerance 5 sprays will have me nodding. It is not very euphoric, but it's not trash either.
It takes around 40 min to kick in and plateaus for around 2 hours. Next 4 hours just have pain killing properties. Plugging has a near instant comeup.
Overall Not as good as acrylic, but pretty okay still. It is caustic to your nose though.
Rating among Fent analogues: 7/10
Rating overall: 5/10
