I’d never heard or seen such a high note.

I've always had X quads and I've always just set both pitch and roll the same, eventually getting that perfect tune. With a stretched X though... I know to get that awesome tune, obviously both pitch and roll are going to be a bit different with the PIDs, I'm just not sure which would be a bit higher than the rest. I would think roll would have generally lower pids, while pitch would have higher pids?

I know pianos are often stretch tuned to deal with inharmonicity --- are some instruments tuned to the piano in order to match pitch when far away from 440?

Seriously. I would really like to know what series of decisions led to such a mismatched vibe on this set.

Obviously there is so much that goes into creating a skin/cosmetic pack, more than I will ever know or care to know. But how did a rap song get matched up with this skin?

I'm asking seriously. If a developer or anyone with industry experience can step in to fill in some blanks, I know others would appreciate it as much as I would. How do problems that seem so obvious in hindsight get past the radar like this?

It feels like epic had made a deal with the artist to include some of his work in a new cosmetic set, and were forced for some reason to put in into this set. I can't think of any other good reason for this decision.

And yes, I get it, I am beating on a (very) dead horse, but if the community makes enough noise about this Epic will respond, and my best case scenario is they replace the track that plays while using the emote. You can keep the track in the bundle, I'm sure plenty of people enjoy the song, just change the emote.

Feels like a trip through my childhood, but I can't point out the individual tracks flashing by...

It’s been a perfect storm for me of being able to essentially listen in full all day while working from home, and the randomness of the tracks makes it so exciting to listen in. Hearing songs from fifteen years ago that I’ve completely forgotten about, hell, even the meme-y songs have been a laugh.

For the last two years I’ve been more of a RRR/Double J/Spotify listener as I’ve grown out of Triple J, but I’ve never resented them for continuing their ethos, and I still find great new music on there all the time.

But this week especially has been something else. If there’s a way for them to measure this (ratings, reactions, whatever) then I’m sure it would show a massive boost, particularly in the 25+ age bracket.

Can this please not be a one-off? Maybe even bringing back Super Request in some form on a weekly basis? This has been compelling, can’t-miss radio – and thats something I’d never thought I’d be saying in 2020.

The R/NBA Panic Index Project

Overview

Last week, I posted to way too many team subreddits to try to create the 2021 NBA Panic Index Christmas-ish Edition. This project aims to determine panic across the NBA community on Reddit and identify once and for all what the most pessimistic NBA fanbase is. And no, it’s not the Lakers… mostly.

First, some context.

The Hockey Guy, a well-known Youtuber in the hockey world, has a series called the “Panic Index.” He rates every team in the NHL on how much panic exists in their fanbase and the pressure to perform in the current season. This quickly became a popular series, so I looked to create a similar index for my favorite league, the NBA. However, The Hockey Guy almost watches hockey as a job, aka at least part of every NHL game on almost every night. Being a grad student, I don’t have a ton of time to watch my local Bulls, much less the entire league on a nightly basis.

Thus, I decided to crowdsource an answer.

R/NBA doesn’t allow the posting of polls, at least without permission from the moderators. Thus, to collect data, I went to each of the 30 team subreddits and asked If people could answer a short questionnaire about panic within their fanbase. Most posts worked well and collected many responses. A few team subreddits, however, don’t allow polls and a bot removes them as soon as they’re posted. To get around this, I posted about my polls’ existence to a daily chat (if such a thing existed) and allowed each user to provide their opinions on up to 2 teams. These 2 tactics gave me the necessary data.

All in all, my poll contained 3 questions about your favorite (or 2 favorite) teams:

-On a scale of 1 to 10, how concerned are you about your team's ability to meet their goals/expectations for this year? These may be wins/losses, playoff appearances/wins, individual achievements, player development, talent acquisition, coach/front office competency, etc. 10 is very concerned, 1 is no concern.

-On a scale of 1 to 10, how critical is it that your team meet their goals/expectations mentioned above this year? 10 is “super critical and people will get fired/traded if we come up short” and 1 is “while we want to accomplish our goals, we’re a few years from putting meaningful pressure on the team to perform well.”

I'm looking for a sampler plugin that allows me to load samples and does the following.
- Time stretches samples to maintain a similar ADSR when played at different pitches
- Built in unision

Basically I'm after Serum but with better/cleaner sample loading and less wave table.

Any ideas?

Darkest Dungeon II Experimental Branch - 0.11.30447 - Torch and Trophy PLAYER PROFILES

Before we get to the main new features we added for gameplay, we also wanted to add the ability for players to have multiple profiles on their machines. Now when you boot up the game for the first time, you will be asked to create a profile by entering a name, selecting what language you want to play in, as well as taking a moment to opt-in to our data collection, before you hit the main menu. If you already have a profile and have been playing since release, no worries! We will convert your existing profile and save to the new structure and you can keep on going where you left off. Want a friend or roommate to try the game out, but don’t want them to tank your run? You can now have up to 10 profiles on a single install of the game, each with their own runs.

Chapter 44 – The fate of the “late” James Aldwin

Several weeks earlier

[As the timer behind him slowly ticked down, James held eye contact with the face on the screen before him, only breaking it to shortly glimpse down at the sheet in his hand containing official answers to the test questions he was providing to his companion behind the camera.

“Hmmm…,” it sounded after a short silence. “Wasn’t it by producing product abundance?”

Nia looked justifiably unsure of her answer while slightly smiling at him through the screen. James didn’t even need to look at the answer sheet to correct her on this one.

“Well, that is one of three ways. And the least effective at that.” he explained. “The answer they are searching for, however, would have been Antisense-Expression.”

Nia moaned loudly and disappeared from the screen before him, presumably having wandered out of her camera’s field of view.

“How am I supposed to remember what methods they used for every single damn organism?” she exclaimed, still out of view, and James could hear her footsteps stomping around her room.

James shook his head, grinning, and put the answer sheet aside for a moment, to give the hothead some time to cool down.

“Aren’t you being a little dramatic?”, he asked while searching the monitor for a sign on which side of her room she currently was. Then he continued, “After all, there are only, like, eight of them. And they are all pre-determined. It’s not like you actually have to learn anything, you just have to memorize it.”

Nia’s head suddenly popped back into view from the left side of the screen and she gave James an angered look. Her dark eyes fixated him through her long eyelashes. Her flat nose was slightly wrinkled and scrunched from her narrowing her eyes so much and she had to remove some braids, that had by now loosened from the tight knot she had tied her dark hair into, out of her face.

Then the rest of her body slowly came back into frame, as she sat back down in front of her camera and put her head in her hands while sighing audibly.

That amazing time when you can spontaneously pick up your axe and throw an-tune chord to underline a point without preparation. When you're walking from one room to another and you can just grab it, run through the chords and the tricky solo of that song you're learning once quickly without even moving from the doorframe.

The ability to just grab it and play lowers the last barrier to play, and in that period i probably find myself practicing five times more often. Because i'm not "sitting down to practice guitar now", I'm just seizing on an impulse, like snacking. That's the true heartbreak of a broken string, because the golden age is over!

I'm hydrated bro, well fed dude, fully stretched, showered...I don't need a break.

If I had tuned out at any point I would have missed the story, missed the DD, not learned how fraudulent the system is.

2022 for me will be a year of engagement.

In 2021 I bought xxx shares, I shopped at GameStop a lot, I DRS'd 95% of my shares, I read all the DD, I watched the ticker everyday.

In 2022 I'm going to buy more on 1/27 and 1/28, DRS to 100%, continue to shop at GameStop, and continue following Superstonk. I will also do more straight market structure research, Dave is making being a market nerd so hot right now.

One change is that I am talking more to my family and friends about financial market structure so everyone is clear on how the system is fraudulent and how it hurts the non-rich. I will talk about GameStop within that context, so people know why I'm in invested in GME and how MOASS is only one part of play.

Now on MOASS. I will stay for the turnaround, the stock will be going up, and I think that between the success of GameStop and DRS that MOASS is inevitable. The debate on the government stepping in is moot to me, I don't care, make them show their hand, fully call their bluff. We won't know if we don't do it. But one thing is for sure, GME is going up in the end.

2022 is gonna be amazing for GameStop and I'm fully dedicated to sticking with the best stock in the world!!!

Can't wait to check the ticker when I wake up at market open tomorrow.

Experimentation

Blood dripped from the carcasses hanging from the ceiling. It leaked into the drainage system on the ground, the floor made out of rusted steel. The blood left a metallic scent in the air that invaded the nasal cavities and left a bad taste in your mouth. BipBap was used to it. He’d been used to the smell for over a century now. In a rare moment of humility, he’d opted to wear a more conspicuous outfit, putting on a simple long-sleeved black shirt, dress pants and nice shoes. Better to walk around Roarhaven in. People tended to ignore you unless you gave them a reason to notice you. He’d left his cane in his spare bedroom down here, and his more regal looking clothes stored in a cupboard. Before the siege on the High Sanctuary, he, with the help of Quiver Runh and Zafeer, had dragged his most precious and illegal items down here. His basement. They’d found nothing. Of course they hadn’t. Stupid, unimaginative folk that Vesuvius had surrounded himself with didn’t come close to BipBap’s intellect. They hadn’t found the entrance that led down here. Here, he was safe to conduct his experiments.

He strode into a large circular room with a metal table in its centre. A metal arm stretched out from the floor, ending with a large spherical glass case with rubber at the lid. On the metal table was the man that Bones had tasked Splinter Note into retrieving. Naked with his mouth taped shut, BipBap ignored the man. I was watching this video from Jens Larsen (who is now may main guitar mentor and prophet lol) and I discovered that there are many ways to finger all the scales.

In that video Jens talks about the CAGED, the 7 position and the 3NPS (three notes per strings).

I personally use the CAGED system because it is the only one I have been taught, but I'd like to explore the other two.

Just out of curiosity I'd like to know from you guys what system you use or you use most and why. What are the pros and the cons of your preferred system?

The sun beat down on Caden as he made his way through the narrow, winding alleys, its harsh light baking the paved streets enough that he could feel it through the soles of his boots. He wrapped his cloak more tightly about his shoulders, its drooping hood casting a dark shadow over his face. There were few who would brave the streets these days, he only encountered a handful of people who were going about their business, all of them sticking to the shadows of the buildings as they skirted the glare. The white and beige facades of the timber-framed structures seemed to glow such that he found himself averting his eyes, their narrow windows protected by wooden shutters in the vain hope of keeping out the pervasive heat, their towering brick chimneys long idle. He could see the heat haze coming off their sloping, tiled roofs, making the air above them shimmer like a mirage. They had been fashioned to ward off rain and snow, not to endure these temperatures.

Where once the city had been overflowing with greenery, now the patches of grass were yellow and sickly, the once-proud trees wilting. Caden remembered a time when each and every home had sported window boxes that overflowed with lush flowers, their bright colors, and their wonderful scents raising the spirits of the townsfolk. Now, they lay empty, the gardens left untended. There were no bees buzzing from blossom to blossom anymore, no butterflies fluttering on the breeze.

It was noon, but that term was slowly losing its meaning. The days grew ever longer, the sun lingering in the heavens, the cloudless sky as deep a blue as he had ever seen it. How long had it been since he had felt the rain on his face? When exactly had the seasons ground to a halt, plunging the world into an unending summer? It doesn't matter if you're still hung over from a three day bender or been sober for years, if you just woke up or have already completed a sober day. For the next 24 hours, lets not drink alcohol!

This pledge is a statement of intent. Today we don't set out trying not to drink, we make a conscious decision not to drink. It sounds simple, but all of us know it can be hard and sometimes impossible. The group can support and inspire us, yet only one person can decide if we drink today. Give that person the right mindset!

What happens if we can't keep to our pledge? We give up or try again. And since we're here in /r/stopdrinking, we're not ready to give up.

What this is: A simple thread where we commit to not drinking alcohol for the next 24 hours, posting to show others that they're not alone and making a pledge to ourselves. Yesterday was Thor's Day and here we are at last at Frigg's Day (here she is, spinning the clouds). The Norse goddess Frigg is often associated with love, as is Venus, the planet after which is named the fifth (or sixth, depending on your count) day in most Romance languages (vendredi in French, venerdì in Italian) as well as in Japanese (きんようび, kinyōbi) and Hindi (शुक्रवार, shukravāra).

I've always been fascinated by the days of the week, by the very fact that days have names and we repeat these names over and over again
