The main objective of psychedelic therapy is to create optimal conditions for the subject to experience the ego death and the subsequent transcendence into the so-called psychedelic peak experience. It is an ecstatic state, characterized by the loss of boundaries between the subject and the objective world, with ensuing feelings of unity with other people, nature, the entire Universe.

As a psychology major aspiring to research and be a part of the coming/present psychedelic renaissance, this is fucking awesome.
I'm curious to know if theres anywhere in the world where I could get LSD therapy done. I'm looking for LSD therapy by someone Grofian, or even approved by Grof.

The Way of the Psychonaut explores the life and work of Stanislav Grof, Czech-born psychiatrist and psychedelic psychotherapy pioneer. Stanβs quest for knowledge and insights into the healing power of non-ordinary states of consciousness, influenced the discipline of psychology and profoundly changed many individual lives. One of those transformed by Stan is filmmaker Susan Hess Logeais. The documentary utilizes Susanβs personal existential crisis as a gateway to Grofβs impact, from the micro to the macro.
Susan and Stan begin with a series of interviews that reveal his journey from material scientist to a spiritually aware explorer of the deep psyche. Interviews combined with re-enactments of Stanβs most remarkable therapeutic sessions bring to life the development of his theories. Additionally, a multi-layered visual story provides a framework of meaning to Susanβs personal exploration of Stanβs techniques and discoveries. The result is a powerful glimpse of what is possible for all of us.
βThrough his experiences, Stan gained a profound trust in the wisdom of the higher self, and discovered the lasting impact of unconscious memories from the birth process to influence a personβs life. In the process, Stan unlocked a way for renegotiating these experiences and liberating people from their traumas.
As the story expands, interviews with luminaries create a conversation between Stan and those most pivotal in his life; Michael Murphy, who invited him to Esalen as Scholar in Residence; Fritjof Capra, who introduced Stan to Quantum Mechanics and recognizes him as the only one to offer an experiential approach to understanding those concepts; Richard Tarnas who co-founded archetypal astrology with Stan during his ten years at Esalen; And Rupert Sheldrake, who remembers how Stan introduced him to a world where he could freely explore ideas without fear of retribution.
But when the focus turns to the present moment, Stan laments societyβs desire to shun the shadow and embrace the positive. Only when we learn to work out our conflicts within, will we co-exist peacefully with each other and the planet. The film ends with Stanβs rebirth after the death of his wife Christina. After her death, Stan wonders if his time has come as w

I am reading Stanislav Grof's "When the impossible happens". I am intrigued by a quote in this book where he says "It is well-known that the population of the areas that lie beyond the polar circle has a strikingly large incidence of psychic phenomena." This is in a chapter titled "THE RAINBOW BRIDGE OF THE GODS: In the Realm of the Nordic Sagas", where he is in Iceland. I am really curious as to what this means. I have never come across any stories or statistics that says more incidents of psychic phenomena are seen north of the polar circle. Does anyone know more on this?

Im realy intrested in starting to read s.grof. i need help in choosing the book to start with. Any reccomandations?
Possibly due to the presence psychedelic levels of DMT at normal birth, and inadequate levels during Cesarean births due to too little stress-hormone-induced DMT output.
This post is my tribute to a book which - in my opinion - all psychonauts ought to know: Stanislav Grof's LSD PSYCHOTHERAPY.
The author of this book has spent more than fifty years of his life studying the depths of the psychedelic experience. During these years, he personally conducted more than 4,000 psychedelic sessions in the context of psychotherapy. LSD Psychotherapy is a summation of everything he has learned during the process.
If you need a comprehensive introduction to the world of psychedelics, this book will serve you well.
To make you understand why I think so highly of it, I collected some of the greatest passages from the book and will share them one by one as comments to this post.
hope you will like it, cellux
I got an itch to do some reading about the psychology of psychedelic experiences and Grof is a name I see all over the place so I took a look at what he's published. Apparently his last book was titled "Healing Our Deepest Wounds: The Holotropic Paradigm Shift" which, going on just the title, sounds really imbecilic and self-help-y. Obviously not a fair judgement of the book but I'd be interested in opinions from people who've done some reading in the genre. I don't have any background in the subject beyond a couple of 100 level psych courses so research journals are probably going to go over my head but I'm looking for something with a more academic bent. A fun read is a plus but I'd prefer something that's a little dry but sticks to the facts over McKennaesq "stoned ape" type speculation.
Is Grof what I should be reading? If not, who is a good author for this kind of thing? If so, where should I start?
Hello, fellow explorers of inner space!
I'm just about to finish Stan Grof's The Adventure of Self-Discovery, and I've always been a fan of the idea of Stan Grof's work (altered states of consciousness leading to psychologically/emotionally cathartic experiences), but actually reading the detail in which he describes these phenomena and learning about the process is quite amazing.
I've never tried holotropic breathwork, but my psychedelic and meditative experience match closely with Grof's descriptions of archetypical non-ordinary-consciousness experiences, and I honestly think his model of psychological healing may be closer to the truth than any modern psychological/psychiatric method.
Let's discuss!
