Religion is often one of the most misunderstood things -often mistakenly seen as a pursuit for God, religion is not a theoretical unselfish endeavor, as it is a- colliding of selfish wishes, fear and community.
Many countries have and are currently seeing a rapid change in demographics(eg Nepal -Christianity went from 1%-10% within 2010-2020 ,South Korea Christianity went from 1%-30% within 3 decades ,Africa christianity went from 1% to 50% within a century -wiping out the indigenous religions)- while many for time immemorial seem to be in a stage of steady continuity - unchanged by outside forces ( Afghanistan has seen a negligible change despite foreign occupation and domination for more than 2 decades, Poland despite the communist regime has seen Church attendance and religiosity stay more or less the same throughout its domination, Even russia for that matter did not see a decline in religiosity even during the period of the Soviet Republic).
India too is seeing a rapidly changing population with large numbers adopting christianity, sponsored in part by the excessive funding coming in through the FCRA($2-3 billion every year). Arunachal Pradesh has gone from 1%-30% within 3 decades 1981-2011, Kanyakumari district has gone to close to 50% within a few decades. Similarly other states such as Andhra Pradesh have gone to 20%(although currently not accounted for by census data, Tamil Nadu has gone to 10%

During his December 24, 2021 press conference, Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan made several statements and assertions on the current situation in Nagorno Karabakh and his vision for its future. He rejected the idea to demand the withdrawal of Azerbaijani forces from any territories, which they captured during the 2020 Karabakh war, including the territories of the former Nagorno Karabakh Autonomous Oblast (the entire Hadrut region, several villages of the Martakert, Martuni and Askeran regions and Shushi city). According to Pashinyan, the Azerbaijani population which lived in the former NKAO (according to the 1989 Soviet Union census, Azerbaijanis made up 22.4 percent of the NKAO population, while the number of Armenians was 76.4 percent) had the right to return, and the capture of Hadrut region, Shushi and other territories created the possibility for the realization of that right. This narrative puts Armenians currently living in Nagorno Karabakh in a perilous situation, as the de facto new line of contact fixed by the November 10, 2020 trilateral statement established a tiny entity which is not viable neither politically nor economically. However, according to Pashinyan, Armenia will not demand independence even for that small entity of approximately 3,000 square kilometers. The prime minister stated that Nagorno Karabakh lost all chances not to be part of Azerbaijan back in 2016. So, if there were no such chances when the territory of the unrecognized Nagorno Karabakh Republic was 11450 square kilometers, there definitely could be no chances now. The prime minister stated that his vision is to see Armenians living in Karabakh safely and securely, which means that Armenia is ready to move forward and sign a peace treaty with Azerbaijan if Baku provides some guarantees for the security of Armenians. Theoretically, it could be a written guarantee put in the peace treaty with no status, or it could be some status of cultural autonomy for Nagorno Karabakh within the November 10, 2020 statement borders, providing Armenians the opportunity to study the Armenian language in Azerbaijani schools or have several hours of daily Armenian language broadcasts on Stepanakert radio.

I had COVID this time last year and it was a mild case.
I'm a HUGE proponent of a person's right to choose whether it be vaccines or abortion.
Anyway, here is a link to my report on imgur (the formatting sucks when I copy paste to Reddit, but I put it below anyway.)
Weβve been told for almost two years now that the only way out of this pandemic is through quarantine, contact tracing, and vaccinations\[1, 2\]. But weβve been getting vast amounts of conflicting information about COVID and everything surrounding it. First the US Government officials told us that masks donβt work\[3\]. Then studies told us they do work\[4\]. Our officials were against vaccine mandates before they were for them\[5\]. Now our rights under the Nuremberg Code, requiring informed consent, are in the process of being violated.
It is my goal to, with this document, give the individual the information needed to make an informed decision as to what they will put in their bodies. This will be quite a difficult task as the pharmaceutical companies are fighting to keep their trial data secret until the year 2076 [A].
To get a sense of how quickly these trials and subsequent EUA approvals have progressed, letβs take a look at the development of three separate vaccines. The DTaP vaccine is a standard recommendation for infants. The Diphtheria vaccine was developed from 1894 through 1914. The Tetanus vaccine was developed from 1889 through 1926. The Pertussis vaccine was developed from 1900 through 1939. They were combined into one vaccine in 1948, after 45 years of independent research and testing[6]. The Hepatitis B vaccine was quite the feat of modern science, as it was the first vaccine to be anti-cancer. This is due to Hep B and C causing about 80% of all cases of liver cancer, which was the second most common cause of cancer death. Hep B was discovered in 1965 by Dr. Baruch Blumberg, who won the Nobel Prize for this discovery. The blood test was developed shortly thereafter with the help from microbiologist Irving Millman. In 1969, they developed the first vaccine. In 1981 the FDA approved a pasteurized version of the Hep B vaccine called Heptavax, by Merck. It was discontinued in 1990 in favor of one

So it was hardly surprising when a protest erupted in Nicosia outside the capitol buildings when Britain brought more soldiers to the island. In response, the British deployed soldiers to defend the buildings and make sure things didnβt get out of hand. They were accompanied by a detachment from the Lithuanian Foreign Legion.
Andrius scarcely remembered life in the homeland, as heβd been barely seven when his family fled, but he had heard enough stories of red barbarity from his parents to know why theyβd left. He knew that the communist menace had to be stamped out wherever it was found, lest it make its way to their new home and destroy everything they held dear. As soon as he became an adult, he enlisted in the Foreign Legion. It wasβ¦ not what heβd expected. Rather than fighting communism around the world, Andrius mostly patrolled the towns of Cyprus intimidating Turks, and occasionally exchanging shots with a few radicals in the woods. Still, he supposed it was still worth something, defending the home of free Lithuanians from those dogs.
Heβd just been transferred south when he was called to the Nicosia protest. He didnβt expect too much - he heard they were armed, but the Greeks were much more civilized than the Turks. Surely it wouldnβt get out of hand. But when he arrived, Andrius was shocked to see the crowd waving red flags. Half their country was occupied by the godless Communists! Surely the Greeks would know better than to support those monsters! But no, here they were. Now that he looked closer, he could see symbols of the communist AKEL, and while he didnβt speak much Greek, it was pretty clear that they were chanting something red.
Wait, look there! Was that one pointing his gun at him? A communist wouldnβt hesitate to kill in cold blood - he had to defend himself! Andrei pulled up his rifle and fired.
To the commissioner's relief, it appeared that London had finally realized that they could not continue ignoring Cyprus. They deployed eight battalions and the 1st Dragoons regiment, totalling around 30,000 men, to the isle of Cyprus, as well as calling upon the 20,000 strong Lithuanian Foreign Legion to put down the rebels. Were this a conventional war, it would be more than enough to overpower them. Unfortunately, the guerilla tactics employed by the rebels allow them to punch above their weight.

Folks, we've finally done it. Just over a year and a half since we hit 1 million, we've now crossed the 2 million subscriber threshold and we cannot thank you all enough for continuing to read and post on the subreddit as we approach our 8th anniversary. Internally, we've been excited about this news approaching as we've got a lot of plans we're hoping to get set in motion soon, so let's run down what we've got in the works.
It's been over a year since we opened up the gates for flair submissions, as we've got plenty of modmails from various users since then with flair requests so folks: we will be opening up the gates once again. Starting on October 2nd, we will host a flair submission thread, with a request thread a day or two before if you don't possess the tools to make flairs. Oh and remember the automod flair contest we didn't end up doing? We'll be hosting a proper competition this time around where we will decide a winner, so be on the lookout for that sometime around early October!
It's been over 2 years since our last census, and with over a million new subscribers since then, it's time to update the census as u/zenits will be hosting a new one starting this Friday, September 24th!
We haven't hosted a town hall since the beginning of the year, so we'll be opening up the floor for a more official discussion at the beginning of October, but if you've got any feedback or questions feel free to ask them here too even though this thread is more or less a celebration for hitting 2 million!
It's been almost 4 years since our last essentials chart went up, and it's time for an update. We'll have more information soon regarding dates, rules, etc., but we will be updating the chart starting early next year, as we'll be looking to add records from the 1980s, 1990s, 2000s and the entire 2010s. But before we update the essentials...
We first gotta wrap up 2021, as we'll have various end of the year activities scheduled like the return of the r/indieheads Album of the Year Write-Up Series (a more official detailed announcement will be coming in a few weeks so get those pitches ready!), our EOTY lists for Song of the Year, Debut of the Year and Album of the Year, and more!
Of course, AMAs are gonna keep on rolling throughout the rest of the year, as we've got som

A common refrain I hear from communists is that U.S. prisons were comparable to the gulags, like from this neanderthal:
> The use of gulags in the Soviet Union was as a way of punishment for crimes, and even then most survived the gulags. The death rate was the same as many prisons in the West at the time.
https://archive.md/PBjJj
A lying communist? Color me surprised. Anyways, thatβs complete bullshit. Itβs hilarious how often American leftists dispute death tolls supplied by the very governments that were responsible for causing those deaths in the first place. Declassified Soviet archives shed light on the true number of those outright executed in the gulag:
1921-1953: 799k executed
1934-1953: 740k executed
1937-1938: 687k executed (Great Purge)

Wheatcroft, 1999 (https://archive.md/aybUk)
Applebaum, 2004 (https://archive.md/DNx4e)
Ellman, 2002 (https://archive.md/a4lDK)
Milne, 2002 (https://archive.md/K8h92)
While most of the executions were concentrated during the Great Purge (1937-38), the average annual execution rate over roughly a two decade span (β34 to β53) was over 40k executions of their own people per year. The United States hasnβt executed that number of Americans in the entirety of its existence. In their 2017 tally of the total number of executions in the U.S. since 1700 (somewhat anachronistic, I know), Time determined that 15,787 individuals were executed. The USSR executed 50x as many of its own people in ~3 decades (1921-53) than the U.S. did in more than 3 centuries (1700-2017).
And before the naysayers claim that the USSR had the greater population, it needs to be said that the difference isnβt so pronounced as to justify the much higher average annual execution rate (to which no twenty year span in U.S. history really compares even when adjusted for population size). The Soviet census of 1937 taken just before the Great Purge, when the bulk of the executions would take place, estimated a population of 162 million, compared to the United Statesβ 129 millionβroughly 80% of the Soviet population.
There is no comparison between the two, peri
