A list of puns related to "Seafarers International Union Of North America"
Wanting to know because i think free training includes pay right
Passing by the Bluesfest setup on Thursday and seeing all the LiUNA signs I thought it's probably some corporation which runs travelling festivals. Then I learned LiUNA is http://liuna.ca Labourers' International Union of North America.
Now I'm wondering what a union has to do with Bluesfest. Are they sponsoring it? Why would a union spend money on that? Or, is it fundraising for them?
Iβm scheduled to start the apprenticeship program on Monday and I was looking for anyone who has recently completed it for questions/advice.. anyone?
Howdy all! Posted a week or two ago about getting into the industry. I found a school that will help with MMC application and are proposing I take two classes for international travel as per the seafarers union, a STCW safety cert. and vessel personnel security duties. Any other major unions out there with different requirements I should know about? Any certifications or specializations you think I should pursue or know about? Iβm trying to get as marketable as possible for the industry. Is there any specialization that is hurting for people, or industry need I could fill?
Additionally, Iβve got some military and security experience so I was thinking about specializing in vessel security. Anybody aware of the market for jobs like that? Or would I better off just doing general certifications?
Thanks for your input!
Recently there's been huge discussion about film technician labor unions specifically related to safety issues, after the big "Rust" on-set shooting scandal. This is actually part of industry-wide problems: we're at the height of peak TV, and there's so much demand it's outpaced the supply of trained workers...so studios frequently just supplement it with untrained workers, and people get hurt. They push stage crew to the limit, including stunt crew.
In North America, the union for the USA and Canada is "IATSE" - International Alliance of Theatrical Stage Employees, and IATSE was already threatening a strike these past few months due to pervasive safety violations in the industry.
Game of Thrones filmed primarily in Northern Ireland, but also in Croatia, Spain, etc. House of the Dragon will be moving to England, but still within the UK, and returning to Spain. Now their new headquarters is Leavesden Studios outside London, home of DC Comics and Harry Potter movies.
What labor union, IF ANY, did GoT have? Comparable to IATSE? And what's the situation for House of the Dragon?
