A list of puns related to "Salt Water Taffy"
So I found one brand of taffy but I think itβs a store brand, and the flavors are a bit different than the non vegan ones Iβve had in the past. The biggest brand taffy town is unfortunately not vegan and I wanted to know if there are any similar brands I can try.
I just can't get salt water taffy to turn out right. The last batch I tried making tasted PERFECT, but I only made it 5 minutes into pulling before it was rock hard and inedible. One batch I made tasted exactly the way I wanted but seemed too liquidy. I waited 15 minutes and not only was it still liquid, but it was still incredibly hot as well. A lot of recipes I found online say it should only need to cool for 5-10 minutes, but that hasn't been the case in any of my attempts. I'm testing my candy thermometer right now to see if that's the issue, but I also have no experience making taffy and may be making some other crucial mistakes. Does anyone on this sub have any advice?
Had it for the first time today and holy crap that stuff is delicious and my absolute favourite texture to eat. New favourite for sure!
It's difficult to find here in Australia so will have to learn how to make my own.
I'm looking to make some vegan salt water taffy as a surprise for my significant other for her birthday. Most of the recipes I've found would just need a butter substitute which shouldn't be hard but I've never actually made it before. Has anyone here ever tried making this/have any advice for me?
Happy Turkey Day! My mom and I were wondering whatever happened to that amazing salt water taffy stand at the OC Fair in the building with the cinnamon rolls and all the product booths. Does anyone know the name or brand? Or even the story of why it went away? Many Thanks!
Hey everyone- years ago I bought the Salt Water Taffy candle from Yankee Candle and It is one of my absolute favourites and it brings back sooo many memories! I was wondering if anyone knew of dupes in either candle or bath/body product form?
The notes are as listed below:
Top: Lime, Orange, Red Berries
Mid: Salt Water Taffy, Marshmallow, Sugar Cane, Brown Sugar
Base: Vanilla Cream, Warm Caramel, Molasses
I'm looking for a place that makes traditional salt water taffy on premises. I did some googling and found quite a few candy stores selling it, but no one claiming they actually make it. I want the good old fashioned recipe that's made with basically butter, sugar, corn syrup, and cornstarch. The stuff that comes in bulk bins is made with hydrogenated rapeseed/cottonseed and other cheap ingredients and tastes plasticy and gross.
Any ideas??
I'm sure many in this sub have been to Marini's in Santa Cruz. I used to love watching the machine pull taffy as a kid...
ETA: I wasn't able to find anyone in the area making taffy from scratch so I scoured the internet. I found a company out of Oregon called Ainslee's who makes theirs using real butter, which for some reason (probably cost) is an incredibly rare find.
Given how this thread was downvoted it doesn't seem like a treat too many people care about, but I'll post a review once I've gotten it. π
