A list of puns related to "Salmo Trutta"
We recommend feeding your African Dwarf Frogs a few (to several) different foods in rotation. This a good way to help them get their nutritional needs met. Some foods make a decent staple, like the frozen Mysis shrimp, packaged in the little cubes and found at many pet stores. Some are treat material, like frozen brine shrimp (found in the same type of cubed packaging at the pet store), and some provide the vitamins and minerals they might otherwise be missing in an all protein diet; like a pellet food formulated specifically for frogs.
Freeze-dried foods and Bloodworms:
These foods are not recommended. A quick google search will lead you down a rabbit hole of forum posts going back and forth, pro and against, these food items. The bottom line for us is that there is a possibility that these foods are commonly associated with internal damage and bloating, and with so many other options available, why chance it?
Frozen foods:
As mentioned above, you can usually locate a freezer in your local pet store that has a variety of frozen fish foods packaged in little cubes. You might be lucky enough to find these: Mysis shrimp, Brine shrimp, Daphnia, Blackworms, and Mosquito larvae. These are all decent staple foods, minus the Brine; which definitely has a bit of protein, but is reportedly missing some other things and therefore should be used as a treat of sorts, vs a staple. For example, I personally use it about every other evening when mine are sitting in the bowl and begging for another feed. In the morning I give my 10 ADFs one cube of thawed Mysis; and about every third day they get some crushed up pellets mixed in with either their Mysis or their Brine.
Pellet foods:
When choosing a pellet food, please consider the ingredients. Avoid any listing corn in the ingredients and/or any other vegetable matter. This can cause your frogs to have loose/runny bowel movements and nobody wants that, especially your frogs. You also want to avoid any listing copper and/or zinc high up in the ingredients list. If they are down toward the end of the list, they are minimal amounts and when used in rotation with other foods, shouldnβt be problematic. ... keep reading on reddit β‘Hi everyone, hope you are all doing well! I have another open article of the week, and this is one that we haven't featured in ages, from Freshwater Ecology.
You can find the open access link here: https://onlinelibrary.wiley.com/doi/full/10.1111/fwb.13799
As always, please feel free to discuss this article in the comments below if you like. Questions, comments, or anything remotely relevant is fair game!
Abstract:
Numerous anthropogenic stressors, including river regulation, excess loadings of nutrients and sediment, channelisation, as well as thermal and hydrological stressors driven by climate change impact riverine ecosystems worldwide. In a time when freshwater degradation and the rate of global warming are faster than ever, understanding the potential interactive effects of local and catchment-scale stressors with large-scale climatic conditions is essential to enhance our ability to plan effective conservation, restoration, and mitigation measures.
In this study we analysed a dataset spanning the whole of Sweden using a space-for-time approach to investigate interactive effects of land use, river regulation, and climate on brown trout (Salmo trutta) abundance in streams.
We found that in warmer regions trout populations were negatively affected in catchments with more intense river regulation by hydropower dams (i.e. β₯10 m3/km2 total reservoir storage volume). In such catchments, a 7Β°C warmer mean summer air temperature was associated with an average between 44% and 83% decline in trout abundance. In catchments with less intense river regulation, trout abundance instead increased moderately with increasing temperature.
We also found that brown trout abundance declined with increasing areal extent of urban areas when found in combination with β₯20% agricultural land use. When agricultural land use reached maximum values (84%), brown trout abundance decreased from an average of 13 individuals per 100 m2 in catchments with no urban areas to values β€1 in catchments with β₯5% urban land use. Also, brown trout abundance declined with increasing agricultural land use in catchments with β₯3% urban land use.
Our study brings innovative empirical evidence of interactive effects between river regulation, land use and climate on brown trout populations. From a management perspective our findings suggest that: (1) restoring natural flows (e.g. through dam removal) and riparian vegetation could mitigate adverse effects of climate
Do your worst!
It really does, I swear!
For context I'm a Refuse Driver (Garbage man) & today I was on food waste. After I'd tipped I was checking the wagon for any defects when I spotted a lone pea balanced on the lifts.
I said "hey look, an escaPEA"
No one near me but it didn't half make me laugh for a good hour or so!
Edit: I can't believe how much this has blown up. Thank you everyone I've had a blast reading through the replies π

Pilot on me!!
I am having trouble conceptualizing a data format for discrete choice modeling in Rstudio. I have the following parameters:
Year--> Fish Species --> Location
I had a huge data set that I managed to pare down. I managed to extract species abundance data from it and converted it to a presence-absence by year (1-0). But then the location parameter is hanging in the line and I would need to reformat the dataset to include that. My analysis is centered around maximum likelihood of fish presence-absence in a given location. So how should I even begin to format the dataset for analysis? And if you have any links to a tutorial that can tell me how to do this step-by-step it would be great!
Dad jokes are supposed to be jokes you can tell a kid and they will understand it and find it funny.
This sub is mostly just NSFW puns now.
If it needs a NSFW tag it's not a dad joke. There should just be a NSFW puns subreddit for that.
Edit* I'm not replying any longer and turning off notifications but to all those that say "no one cares", there sure are a lot of you arguing about it. Maybe I'm wrong but you people don't need to be rude about it. If you really don't care, don't comment.
